The Twelfth Letter of the President of the Buddhist Association of China

If the world were to lose the Buddha’s teachings, it would truly be destined for destruction. Yet, even today, when the Buddha’s teachings still exist in name, our world remains on the brink of decay. The Buddha’s teachings have, in many places, ceased to be the true . The pure goodness and pure thoughts that the Buddha’s teachings are meant to cultivate are rarely found in the hearts of people today. Instead, selfishness and the pursuit of personal gain have become the norm for everyone.

The Erosion of True Practice

Those who claim to study the Buddha’s teachings are often no different from the secular world. Many monastics appear to treat their robes as nothing more than a uniform, merely going through the motions of reciting the sutras and chanting Namo Amituofo without the necessary depth of heart. I, Zhao Puchu, have always spoken with directness and clarity, for without such honesty, I would be unable to guide others effectively.

It is a source of profound sorrow for me to observe that among the vast number of monastics today, there is not one who is truly prepared for rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss. That those who have dedicated their lives to the path are unable to lead others to liberation is a matter of the utmost gravity. Everyone seems to be living within the confines of their own selfishness, and no one is willing to look clearly at the reality of the situation.

The Urgent Reality of Our Time

I must tell you all with the greatest solemnity: the current situation is such that not a single person is currently on the path to achieving rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This includes you, the reader who is looking at this letter right now. However, there is a glimmer of hope. Because you are reading this, you have already become aware of this stark reality. How many others are still wandering in the dark, unaware of their true condition?

I call upon all good men and women who see this message to cultivate great and share this truth with everyone. We must acknowledge the fact that, as things stand, rebirth is not being achieved. I, Zhao Puchu, have come forward to speak these words because I wish to offer a final opportunity for those who are still willing to make a sincere effort for the sake of their own future after death.

A Path to Genuine Deliverance

If you are truly concerned about where your soul will go, you must take action now. I am currently at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. If you come here, you will learn exactly what must be done to rectify your practice and secure your path to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Do not let this moment pass in vain, for the time to awaken is now.

Recorded by the Buddha’s disciple, Shi Fajing.
