The Weight of a Single Attachment
An Interview with a Spirit Reborn as a Turkey
A Lesson on the Law of Cause and Effect

This is a record of an interview with a spirit who, due to a singular, intense attachment, was reborn into the animal realm as a turkey. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This account reflects upon the nature of attachment and the Law of Cause and Effect. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa, on February 26, 2026.
The Spirit speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am a soul who once lived with a singular, consuming attachment. In my previous life, I was obsessed with the accumulation of material goods, believing that my worth was defined by what I could hold in my hands. I did not realise that this very attachment would become the anchor that dragged me into the cycle of rebirth, specifically into of a turkey."
The Trap of Attachment
"Think about it—how could a human become a bird? It is the Law of Cause and Effect. My mind was so fixated on greed and the desire to possess that my became narrow and frantic. When my life ended, that singular, heavy attachment remained. It was like a magnet pulling me toward a life of constant hunger and fear. I became a turkey, a creature whose entire existence is defined by the very thing I was obsessed with: consumption and the fear of being consumed.
It was absolutely terrifying! Every day was a struggle for survival. I lived in a state of constant, trembling anxiety. I realised then that my attachment had not brought me security; it had brought me a cage of feathers and flesh."
A Personal Debt of Gratitude
"I am so grateful to Practitioner Su for her . When I was suffering in that animal form, lost in the cycle of rebirth, it was the light of Namo Amituofo that reached me. Practitioner Su performed the deliverance, allowing me to finally let go of that heavy, suffocating attachment. She led me to repent before the Buddha and guided me toward the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
I have seen the achievements of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre from the spiritual realms. It is a place of profound transformation. To save beings like me, who have fallen so far due to our own delusions, requires a level of compassion that is beyond words. I am finally free from the cycle of samsara, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Namo Amituofo."
