The World's Greatest Deception

This is a record of an interview with the late Koo Chen-fu, who sought deliverance through the compassionate Chao Du rituals at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having transitioned from the world of high-stakes diplomacy and business, he now resides in the spirit realm and reflects upon the nature of his life, the hidden influences of spiritual attachments, and the ultimate truth of existence. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Facie, on August 8, 2019.

Koo Chen-fu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Koo Chen-fu. Having walked through the corridors of power, observed the rise and fall of fortunes, and witnessed the intricate bits and pieces of human life, I have come to a singular conclusion: the human heart is truly deep and unfathomable. When a person is placed in a volatile environment, the fluctuations of their character are immense. You can never predict how they will act or what they will do. This is precisely why I had to be so incredibly cautious, observing and scrutinising every person's thoughts and methods just to navigate the world.

The Illusion of Control

Now, after such a long period of purification and reflection, I have finally realised that in many instances, a person is merely a vessel. We are replaced, controlled, and ultimately unable to be the masters of our own lives. When you possess high academic qualifications, vast wealth, and immense power, can you truly be certain that you are still yourself? Looking back at my own past, I now understand that because of my constant calculations and ceaseless thinking, I attracted many sentient beings whose character, emotions, and personalities were in sync with my own. They came to attach themselves to me. Those decisions that seemed so perfect at the time were not actually judgments I had made myself. Without looking back to observe and explore the root cause, one would never know the truth of the matter!

Human beings are truly pitiable. We come into this world and spend every single second living in fear and trembling—all for the sake of survival, money, power, and status. We strive for things that we cannot take with us when we leave. Of course, everyone knows this deep down, yet we are constantly deceived by the illusory environment of the Five Desires and the Six Dusts. We are naturally drawn into the roles we play in this grand performance. This is the world's greatest deception. It constructs everything we think we want so convincingly that we become trapped, unable to pull ourselves free. Without a powerful awareness, one will naturally continue to dream within a dream, weaving a script known as the six realms of rebirth.

Now, I have finally been given an opportunity to walk out of this dream. It is like a fleeting business opportunity in the middle of a high-stakes negotiation—it appears for a moment and then vanishes. One must grasp it firmly. Walk out of this century-old deception, stop drifting with the tide, and become the master of your own true destiny. Take control of your life. Namo Amituofo."
