Thus Have I Heard: Teachings of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju
A Message from the Thrice Yearning Ceremony in Australia
October 30, 2019
Thus have I heard. This sacred phrase, which heralds the commencement of so many profound teachings from the Buddha, invites us to pause and reflect deeply upon our own spiritual journey. On the thirtieth of October, 2019, during the held in Australia, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offered these compassionate words to guide our practice and illuminate the path ahead.
The Fleeting Echoes of
How many times have we stood before the Buddha and heard the ? Though our hearts were deeply shaken and moved in those sacred moments, we often find ourselves returning to our old habits and patterns once the ceremony concludes. We wake up for a brief, shimmering moment, only to fall back into the deep slumber of samsara. We are awake for a fleeting instant, yet we remain lost in the dream for the rest of our lives, drifting through the cycles of existence.
The Stillness Beyond Delusion
When will we be completely free of all delusions? That is the moment we will finally find true and lasting peace. In our state of delusion, we cry, we laugh, and we shed tears over the transient illusions of this world. However, in the state of true peace, the boundaries of dissolve; there is no distinction between you and I. We are one, united in the vastness of the Dharma.
The Path of Diligent Practice
Thus have I heard: when we realise the oneness of all things, we attain true freedom. Hearing the Dharma is merely the beginning of our journey; we must put these teachings into practice in our daily lives. Only through diligent practice can we increase our merit and realise the infinite meaning of the Buddha's teachings. Let us strive to move from confusion to awakening, from the wrong paths to the Right Way, and from impurity to the purity of the of Ultimate Bliss. May we all walk this path with sincerity and devotion, guided by the light of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
