The Fleeting Nature of Time

Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded by Venerable HaiZe. Have you noticed how friends you have not seen for a while now show signs of age or illness? Consider the children who were once small in your arms; they are now growing into boisterous, active youths. As you observe these changes in others, how do they perceive you in return?

Reflecting on Your Practice

Have you made progress in your practice? Have your skills matured? Has your face softened with ? Has your Wisdom increased? Have you worked to change your ways and reduce your negative habits? Have you learned to be grateful, letting go of complaints and anger? Have your Six Roots and your body, mind, and spirit undergone purification? Have your spirits been elevated? Is your chanting of Namo Amituofo effective, remaining uninterrupted by external disturbances? Is your hope for rebirth in the firm, sustained by your constant chanting?

The Cumulative Effort

Any positive transformation you experience is the result of the bits and pieces of effort you have accumulated as time slips away. It is not something that can be achieved quickly or by mere luck. As time passes, the suffering of beings has not diminished; in fact, it increases day by day. This is because the hearts of people have not changed, the plague remains, and demons are everywhere, causing people to live in a state of anxiety and suffering.

A Call to the Students of Hsiang Kuang

At this moment, students of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre should cherish this period of pure practice within the centre. If you have no faults, continue to advance. Every minute and every second, walk alongside Namo Amituofo. Never depart from Namo Amituofo. Let your Buddha-name, your heart, your practice, and your vows be one with Namo Amituofo. Time waits for no one. Use your time to cultivate Goodness. Follow Namo Amituofo to save yourself and to save all beings, ensuring that this life is not passed in vain. Namo Amituofo.
