Transforming the Environment: A Teaching on Self-Mastery
Teachings from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju
The Quest for True Autonomy
To all beings, do you long to be the master of your own life? Do you yearn to be free from the influence of external environments, and instead, gain the power to transform those environments yourself? Many of you wish to be liberated from the heavy burdens of , yet you find yourselves trapped by the invisible forces of the past. Do you hope to live without being pulled away by and other beings, which often leads to entering different dimensions of existence or falling into states of deep and confusion?
These situations are common in our daily lives. They are, in essence, the manifestations of the cycle of rebirth, appearing within the currents of karma. They are inevitably accompanied by the sufferings of birth, aging, sickness, and death. When people find themselves caught in these circumstances, they often fail to notice that anything is wrong. They do not realise that these states can be transformed, and instead, they accept them as the normal way of existence.
The Struggle Between Host and Guest
The root of this problem lies in the relationship between the true self and the beings that reside within us. Although these beings are merely guests, and you are the rightful host of your own body, the situation has become inverted. Because the host's personality—often driven by ego and attachment—is so prominent, it attracts karmic creditors to manifest before us. Eventually, the host is overwhelmed by the sheer number of these guests.
In this state, the guests usurp the position of the host, and the true master is relegated to the status of a guest. This is why your body becomes difficult to control and why you find yourself constantly swayed by external environments. When is no longer under your own command, the heart loses the strength to drive your actions. Consequently, your conduct may deviate from the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, leading to the creation of further negative karma.
The Path of Spiritual Fragmentation
When the spirit can no longer find peace within the body, it may begin to drift away. This causes the heart to lose its sense of security, the body to feel like a stranger, and the spirit to become scattered and chaotic. This is truly a state of profound suffering. However, you are fortunate. At this very moment, you have encountered Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Through their compassionate guidance, you are provided with the necessary support to restore your life:
- They assist in resolving conflicts and performing for the beings you have invited, allowing your body to finally find peace.
- They help to retrieve your three hun souls and seven po souls, ensuring that your spirit is once again whole.
- They provide the blessing of the Buddha-light and the power of the Buddha-name, giving your heart a reliable refuge.
Returning to the Original Nature
Through this support, your body, mind, and spirit are guided back to their original state, allowing their inherent capabilities to manifest once more. When you reach this level of clarity, you gain the ability to transform the environment rather than being controlled by it. This is the manifestation of the true self's original meditative concentration. You must continue to move forward in this direction, with unwavering faith and diligent practice.
