Long before time could be measured, a Buddha was born into the world named Lokesvararaja Buddha. During the forty-two kalpas in which he lectured on the Dharma, there was a king of a great nation named King Se-Rao. After listening to the Dharma taught by Lokesvararaja Buddha, he understood that the human body is temporary, but the spirit does not die. If one lives an ordinary life, once the body's time is up, the spirit will automatically emerge with nowhere to go, much like the ghosts that now populate the Earth. He also understood that this body is actually the ultimate technology. Through practice, the body's cells can be free from aging and illness, just like Practitioner Su, who is eighty years old but whose body does not age or get sick. Knowing that humans should use this limited body to elevate their spirit, King Se-Rao renounced his throne and became a monk, taking the name Bhikshu Dharmakara.

After becoming a monk, Bhikshu Dharmakara practiced with great diligence and continuously purified himself. He summoned a courage far exceeding others to change his habits and personality regarding the seven emotions, six desires, wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep, and he broke through the trials of drowsiness in practice to enter higher dimensions. He followed the teachings of Lokesvararaja Buddha completely, and regardless of any bottlenecks or difficulties, he upheld the belief of living entirely for sentient beings, breaking through the trials of the body.

One day, Bhikshu Dharmakara went before Lokesvararaja Buddha to ask for the Dharma, saying: "Disciple wishes to have a heart like the Buddha's. How should I establish an incomparable and supreme Buddha-land to receive beings from the human realm and all sentient beings, allowing them to practice in a pure environment?"

Lokesvararaja Buddha knew of Bhikshu Dharmakara's profound and vast vows. Knowing that the human realm lacked education and was heavily possessed by spirits, he spent one billion years introducing and explaining the immeasurable and boundless Buddha-lands. After listening to Lokesvararaja Buddha's explanation, Bhikshu Dharmakara made an incomparable and supreme vow. He spent five kalpas fully understanding the merits and supremacy of the immeasurable Buddha-lands, and carefully planned the blueprint for the Buddha-land he would establish after attaining Buddhahood—the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Afterwards, Bhikshu Dharmakara went before Lokesvararaja Buddha to report, and based on the blueprint of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, he made forty-eight great vows. He vowed that if even one of these vows was not fulfilled, he would not attain Buddhahood.

After that, Bhikshu Dharmakara spent an immeasurable amount of time practicing diligently, completely free from the seven emotions, six desires, wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep. He worked hard to propagate the Dharma, helping sentient beings break through delusion to reach Awakening, and completely gave of himself to fulfill his forty-eight great vows. Finally, ten kalpas ago, he attained Buddhahood with the name Namo Amituofo.

Since attaining Buddhahood ten kalpas ago, Namo Amituofo has, in accordance with his original supreme vows, continuously received and led sentient beings with karmic affinity—including those from the Dharma Realm, the universe, the galaxy, Earth, humans, animals, plants, the physical world, and spirits—to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss to practice. An immeasurable and incalculable number of beings have already entered the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, living lives of endless lifespan, immeasurable light, and infinite happiness.

Why does Namo Amituofo reside at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre?

After thirty years of diligent practice and continuous effort, Practitioner Su purified herself and recovered her innate natural abilities. Her eyes opened, and she could see the spirit world that people cannot see. Seeing the suffering of beings in the spirit realm with no one to save them, she and several like-minded practitioners established a Buddhist study group—the Hsiang Kuang Chamber—after years of collective chanting. They led the public to learn the Dharma, receive Dharma education, recognize Namo Amituofo and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and understand the cycle of cause and effect. Seeing the helplessness and suffering of people facing birth, aging, sickness, and death, she spent years helping everyone resolve the hatred accumulated with sentient beings from past lives. Ten years ago, her legs were attacked by these beings, and the tendons in her left leg were torn, making it difficult to walk. She suffered on behalf of others without complaint or regret.

Even though her body endured extreme pain, because of her faith in the Buddha and her complete trust in Namo Amituofo, she did not use medication or see a doctor, and continued to teach everyone to study the Dharma and recognize Namo Amituofo and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Furthermore, with extreme compassion, she resolved the grievances between people and sentient beings, helping many people resolve the grievances with the beings attached to them, relieving the aging and illness brought upon people by these beings, and performing deliverance for these beings to go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, sparing both people and beings from suffering.

A living Buddha suffering for others

Practitioner Su is full of compassion and wisdom. Although her legs are injured and walking is difficult, and her body suffers for others, she has no complaints or regrets. Even while enduring extreme physical suffering, she continues to suffer for others. Such unity of heart, vow, and action with the Buddha moved the teacher of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, Namo Amituofo, to come to the Hsiang Kuang Chamber. Practitioner Su led everyone to establish the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre according to Namo Amituofo's instructions. Since then, Namo Amituofo has resided at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia.

Because Namo Amituofo resides at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, under the education and guidance of Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su, we cultivate a pure and kind heart, develop the natural abilities innate in everyone, and are able to converse with the Buddha and all things. This helps people stay away from the suffering of aging, illness, and death, and also helps beings in the spirit realm and ghosts leave the ghost realm to enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

During the three-day Thrice Yearning Ceremony held every week, after Venerable Hai Yuan of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre converses with the Buddha, she receives teachings from Namo Amituofo. Under the explanation of Practitioner Su, these can be conveyed to all spirit and human beings attending the ceremony, including those from the Four Sacred Realms, the heavenly realm, and even beings and demons who have come seeking deliverance.
