A Father's Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Wan Lechun, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his life and his transition to the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on December 10, 2021.

Lay Practitioner Wan Lechun speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Wan Lechun. Looking back at the life I lived in the human world, it now feels like nothing more than a wisp of smoke caught in a gale. When the wind blows, the clouds are scattered, and they vanish into nothingness. That is how my earthly existence feels now—it is gone, as if it never truly was. My children are still in this world, and my grandchildren are here too. This lineage, passing from one generation to the next, is the only proof that I once walked upon this earth.

Life as a Passing Cloud

These are my current reflections on the nature of life. I feel a deep, burning need to share this truth with all of you: Life is truly like a floating cloud. If it were not for the Truth and the reality of this Pure Land, I would have vanished like a dream, leaving no trace behind. It is only through the grace of the Buddha that I have found a place where I truly belong.

My dear daughter, Yongxiu! As a father, I understand the weight of the life you have carried. In this human existence, one must learn to let go. Do not cling to the burdens of the heart. Whether worldly affairs seem to go your way or not, do not take them so seriously. Learn to let go—it is better for you, and it is better for everyone around you. If you look closely at everything in this world, you will realise that there is nothing that cannot be let go of, for in the end, every person must eventually depart.

A Father's Final Guidance

Your descendants will have their own blessings. I am so incredibly happy to have arrived here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. My own heart now follows the Buddha in practice. My current state of mind is one of profound purification; I no longer think of the affairs of the world. I only wish to use this opportunity to tell you, Yongxiu, and all my many descendants, that I am here, and I am doing wonderfully.

In the days to come, I hope you will all follow the path of the Buddha’s practice and come here to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have already walked this path, and I have tasted every bitterness and sweetness that life has to offer. As the ancients used to say, 'The words of the elderly are precious.' I want to tell everyone: you must practise! You must find the right path in life! Now I know that one must never hold onto attachments to worldly things.

The True Education of the Buddha

Practitioner Su is here, and what she is doing is the true education of the Buddha. Everyone must come together to learn, to change, and to transform your own lives. Yongxiu, as a father, I know that you have raised your children well. Now, you too understand the importance of learning the Dharma. Remember, do not let your heart be filled with too many doubts. Trust in the choices made by Zhonghua; this path is the one that can truly help everyone.

I am already in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I hope that one day, we will all be reborn together in this Pure Land. I am so grateful for the compassion of Namo Amituofo, and I am deeply thankful to Practitioner Su. Namo Amituofo."
