A Father's Journey to the Western Pure Land

Lay Practitioner Wang Xilin, the father of Lay Practitioner Wang Hong, sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Following his passing, he was successfully guided to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview, recorded on December 2, 2022, captures his reflections on his journey through the laws of karma and cause and effect, and his heartfelt message to his daughter and the world.

Lay Practitioner Wang Xilin speaks:

"My dear children, your father, Wang Xilin, has finally arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I close my eyes and breathe in the deep, sweet fragrance of this pure realm. At this moment, I no longer need to wander through the cycle of rebirth and suffer greatly. I am here in this land where there is no conflict, and I truly hope that my family will one day reunite with me here. I am so fortunate that your mother and I were able to follow the Buddha together today. My spirit is now incredibly clear and bright. I am deeply grateful for the compassion of the Buddha, and for the help provided by Practitioner Su of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre."

The Weight of Karmic Debt

"Wang Hong, my daughter, I have felt your filial piety. Thank you for continuously performing Chao Du for me ever since I left you all. It is true that the karmic debts I owed were substantial. Even while I was still alive and suffering from illness, many karmic creditors were already surrounding me. They manifested different spaces for me to see, appearing like a series of dreams, one scene after another. These karmic creditors encroached upon me bit by bit until the moment I passed away. I wanted to hide, but I could not. It was I who attracted these karmic creditors through my own actions—whether it was my anger, my dissatisfaction, or my inability to let things go. One group after another came to find me, and my body had to endure the consequences of these actions."

Facing the Laws of Karma

"After I died, I was dragged into the hells to receive my retribution. That was what I was owed, and I have no complaints. The laws of karma and cause and effect are crystal clear; it was something I had to endure. Whether you believe this or not, children, your father has walked that path. I am very calm about it now—what is owed must be repaid. Perhaps it was because of this that you, Wang Hong, were able to find the Buddha, which allowed you to save me and significantly reduce my suffering. My spirit was brought to the Western Land of Dharma Nature at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre for purification. My mind has gradually become clear. No matter what happened in the past, I no longer dwell on it. I cherish this moment of clarity, as I can now follow the Buddha's good affinity."

A Father's Final Guidance

"Wang Hong, do not dwell on the past anymore. One must look forward. I know your heart. Now that I have settled down following the Buddha, I hope your heart can also find peace. Study the Buddha's teachings well, and help those around you who have karmic connections to do the same. Remember, do not force things too much, and do not be too headstrong in your personality. I hope that you will achieve spiritual success in this lifetime so that you can help those who are in need."

A Message to All

"Take good care of the family, focus on chanting Buddha's name, and do not let your mind wander. Everything is well with me now. What I have told you is also a message for everyone else. I must now focus on learning from Namo Amituofo. If you have the opportunity, you must sincerely resolve conflicts with your own karmic creditors and perform Chao Du for them. Do your best to do this, and do not end up like your father, leaving this world with a heavy burden of debt. Remember to study the Dharma diligently. I send my blessings to everyone I have ever known."
