A Father's Journey to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Wang Dashu, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the human world. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on February 24, 2023.

Wang Dashu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Greetings to all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. I am Wang Dashu. I am filled with such immense joy to be here today in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. My heart is truly overflowing with happiness. Beyond my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su for his great compassion, I must also thank my daughter, Wang Chunming, for arranging my Chao Du. It is only because of her that I have been granted the opportunity to arrive at such a magnificent and sacred place.

A Message to My Family

Here, I am not only filled with joy and gratitude, but I also wish to take this precious opportunity to send a message to my family back home. My dear children, it is your father speaking. The fact that we were able to encounter Practitioner Su and his mission to save the world is a testament to the small acts of Goodness we performed in our daily lives. It is because of those seeds that these Causal Conditions have finally manifested. You must all seize this opportunity! Chunming already knows to look toward this path, and I hope the rest of you will follow her lead.

The cycle of reincarnated life in the human world is truly, truly painful. Having walked that path until the very end of my life, I can tell you with certainty: I never want to return to that cycle of reincarnation again. Now that we have found this golden opportunity, we must all hold onto it tightly. Do not let go. If you follow this path, we will all be reunited here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss in the future.

The True Meaning of Life

In my own life, I did not achieve anything particularly grand. I did not have the heart or the capacity to help beings in the way that Practitioner Su does. But here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I have watched Practitioner Su and every single person there. They are all working so incredibly hard, pouring their very lives into their practice, and dedicating their hearts to helping all beings. That is what a truly meaningful life looks like. Chunming, I know you will read this letter from your father. You must tell the others—everyone should come here to study the Dharma. The Buddha is truly here, and the Buddha has the power to save everyone. We no longer need to suffer.

Do not spend your entire life struggling for the sake of this physical body, only to end up burdened by spiritual obstacles and illness in your final days. As your father, I do not wish for any of you to suffer. Each of you has your own life to lead, but I pray that you walk on the right path. You must make the right choices in life. I will be here, waiting for all of you.

We must all be grateful for the compassionate protection of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Namo Amituofo."
