A Final Plea from the Beyond
The Third Letter of the Late Venerable Master Wei Chueh
Recorded on June 8, 2017
This record was documented on June 8, 2017. Following the publication of three previous articles detailing the messages from the late Venerable Master Wei Chueh, and noting the continued silence from the Chung Tai community, the Venerable Master has chosen to issue this final, urgent teaching to address the concerns of his former students and monastics.
A Call to the Chung Tai Community
Venerable Master Wei Chueh speaks:
"To the monastics, volunteers, and students of Chung Tai: Can it be that you remain truly indifferent to the calls of Wei Chueh? I have come to realise that the direction of our past education was insufficient and perhaps even misguided. We neglected the gate, the practice of chanting Namo Amituofo, and the cultivation of the skills necessary to ensure rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Even if one’s meditation skills are profound and deep, if one cannot achieve rebirth in the Western Pure Land, one will inevitably fall back into the six realms of rebirth. All that effort will have been in vain. This is a matter that I, Wei Chueh, deeply regret."
The Reality of
"I have paid the price of entering the hells myself to gain this . I am desperate to tell the people of Chung Tai: do not mistakenly believe that because you have practised, you are guaranteed rebirth in the Western Pure Land. Do not assume that a single thought or ten thoughts of the Buddha at the moment of death will be easy to achieve. When the time of death arrives, your karmic retribution will manifest, and you will find yourself unable to control your own mind. If even a single subtle, stray thought arises, not only will your hope of reaching the Western Pure Land be extinguished, but the retribution of the hells will be waiting for you.
Why is it said that the gates of hell are crowded with monks and Taoists? For monastics, to disregard the Pure Land Dharma gate, to fail to teach beings, and to fail to attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss—this is the cause for the retribution of the hells. Remember this! Remember this well!"
A Final Request for Accountability
"These are the truthful words of Wei Chueh. I hope to receive a response from Chung Tai, rather than being ignored or dismissed as mere internet gossip. To treat this lightly would be a grave error indeed. Venerable Jian Deng should address this matter, and I deeply hope that a representative from Chung Tai will make a journey to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. May the Buddha’s prevail. Namo Amituofo!"
The sorrowful words of Wei Chueh of Chung Tai.
This message was recorded by the chief writer, the Buddhist disciple Shi Fa Haize.
