A Journey from Darkness to the Light of Namo Amituofo
An Interview with Lay Practitioner Chen Yahui
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Chen Yahui, a friend of Lay Practitioner Lu Honglian, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the human world. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on February 14, 2025.
Lay Practitioner Chen Yahui speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Today is the day I have decided to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have already been guided by Practitioner Su to meet the Buddha. The Buddha is right before me—so immense, so profoundly compassionate. My heart is filled with such gratitude, such overwhelming gratitude. I have been chanting the Buddha-name continuously, for I do not know how else to repay the Buddha's grace. I am also deeply grateful to my friend for helping me receive Chao Du, helping me to leave suffering behind. I do not know how to repay such kindness; I can only offer you my highest , wishing you all the best in your future endeavours. I am truly grateful for your goodness.
The Sudden Transition from Life to Death
When I recall the moment my spirit was led to the Buddha-land, I could not help but burst into tears. I had finally emerged from the darkness and the terror, and for the first time, I saw the light. For so long, I had been trapped in the very moment the accident occurred. At that time, I felt a massive force rushing toward me. I tried to dodge it, but I could not escape. My was blurred, and it was only after my spirit arrived at the Buddha-land that I clearly realised I had lost my life. That is why I wept—I wept for all the things I had not yet finished, I wept because I had not said goodbye to my beloved family, and I wept because I was not prepared. How could everything happen so suddenly?
Understanding the Law of Cause and Effect
I wept for several days within the Buddha-land before I finally calmed down enough to listen to the sutras. It was then that I understood the process of my life ending was actually the repayment of a debt. The debts I had incurred in the past were meant to be repaid in this lifetime. I kept counselling myself, urging myself to wake up and let go. In this process, I came to understand many things, and I saw more clearly how I had been trapped in the cycle of reincarnation. Although I have only been in the Buddha-land for a very short time, it feels as if I have recovered many memories of my past, and I can see the karmic connections I have had with every member of my family.
A Message of Peace to the Living
I am so fortunate to have had this Causal Condition to meet the Buddha and to understand all of this. I know that my family and those who knew me are still lingering in regret and sorrow. I want to tell them that I am doing very well now. I am in a world of infinite beauty, living a life far better than I ever did before, so please, do not worry about me. I am truly fortunate to have arrived in the Buddha-land, a place of infinite perfection. Now, I only hope that my family and everyone I know will be well in every day to come. If you miss me, please chant this phrase: 'Namo Amituofo.' Consider it a message that I will surely receive.
If the Causal Conditions allow, I hope you will all chant the Buddha's name more often so that, in the future, you too may come to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. There is no suffering here, none at all. I am so grateful for all the conditions that helped me. Please set your hearts at ease regarding me, and I wish everyone who knew me all the best. With palms joined, Chen Yahui."
Namo Amituofo.
