This is a record of an interview with Huang Liancong, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the cycle of suffering to the peace of the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on July 23, 2021.

Huang Liancong speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. My heart is filled with such immense . Initially, I was hesitant about whether I should go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. But now, having seen how truly magnificent it is, I have absolutely no regrets. Coming here was the right choice—it is truly wonderful! I, Huang Liancong, kneel in gratitude to the Buddha and to Practitioner Su. Thank you, Practitioner Su, for guiding me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Without your , I, Huang Liancong, would never have been able to escape; I would have been trapped in suffering forever. I am so grateful, so deeply grateful! I also want to thank my dear daughter-in-law, Lian-a. If it were not for her remembering me, her father-in-law, I would never have had the chance to encounter Practitioner Su. Thank you!"

The Clarity of Truth

"Over these past days, I have come to understand so much. Things that I did not comprehend before, I can now see clearly. I have finally realised that the laws of and cause and effect are absolute in this world; not a single drop of one's actions can ever be escaped. My current state is a world away from the life I lived in the past. It is truly remarkable how different existence becomes once one has passed away. If you were to ask me about my past life, I find I cannot say much. For a very long time, I remembered nothing at all. It was only by listening to the here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre that my mind slowly began to awaken."

The Futility of a Worldly Life

"My entire life passed by just like that. What was my life actually for? It was merely for the sake of a family, and looking back, it feels so unworthy! I did not understand this before, and who could have known? One only realises the futility of it all after death. The suffering was mine alone to bear; my family could not share in that pain. Everyone is the same in this regard. That is why I am so grateful that my daughter-in-law invited Practitioner Su to guide me, allowing me to avoid being reincarnated into further suffering. I do not want to be a human again. Being human is incredibly arduous—the physical pain of alone is enough to break one, not to mention the struggle of raising children and supporting a household."

A Message to the Living

"I want to tell my daughter-in-law and my children: life is truly short. We never once stopped to consider where we would go after we died, simply because we did not understand. But now that I have experienced that suffering myself, I know that where one goes after death in the cycle of rebirth is the most important matter of all. You must listen to my words and practise the Dharma; it is of the utmost importance. By listening to the teachings here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I have come to understand many principles, and my entire being has changed for the better. It is a pity that you cannot see me now; otherwise, I would love for you to see how I look. I appear so much younger, and my face is always beaming with a smile. I am happy every single day.

Thank you all. I am doing very well now, so please, do not worry about me!"

Namo Amituofo.
