A Journey Home to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Huang Decheng, the husband of Lay Practitioner Yang Zhuzhen. He sought deliverance through the compassionate aid of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on July 26, 2024.

Lay Practitioner Huang Decheng speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I have arrived safely in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I know my wife has been waiting for this news, so I am rushing to tell her now, to put her heart at ease.

I, disciple Huang Decheng, kneel and bow my head in profound gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I am filled with such immense joy right now because I know that I have finally attained liberation. My heart is so still—incredibly peaceful and comfortable. I have never felt this way before; it is truly, deeply comfortable! I thank Practitioner Su for guiding me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, sparing me from further reincarnation and suffering. I never imagined such a thing could happen, and I am so grateful to Practitioner Su. I also want to thank my wife, who has been my partner throughout this life. Thank you for remembering me and for saving me."

The Transition from the World of the Living

"After I left the world, I was all alone. I did not quite realise that I had already passed away because I was still in my own space, doing the things I was familiar with. It was as if I were trapped in a loop of my own habits. So, when I heard Practitioner Su calling my name, I thought it was just someone I knew. I never expected it to be Practitioner Su.

Practitioner Su helped pull my spirit out of that space and then guided me into the Western Dharma-Nature Land. After that, I found myself sitting on a lotus flower. At first, I did not understand what was happening, but as I listened intently to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks, I slowly began to realise that I had passed away and had been saved. It was the person before me—the one whom so many spirits call Practitioner Su—who rescued me and brought me here. I do not know how to thank Practitioner Su enough, so I can only continue to chant Namo Amituofo and listen earnestly to the Dharma talks."

A Final Wish for My Family

"I do not worry about my loved ones in the world of the living anymore, because I now understand that everything is destined. Even if I were to worry, it would be of no use. I only hope that my whole family will chant Namo Amituofo, and that everyone I know will do the same. No matter how good the world of the living may seem, it cannot compare to the beauty of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. You must chant Namo Amituofo to return to the Western Land. Do not remain attached to the world of the living; this place is the best of all.

I do not know if they will feel what I am saying, but I only hope to see my family in the Western Land. That way, they too can leave suffering behind in this lifetime.
