A Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss: Lay Practitioner Huang Jinzhu

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Huang Jinzhu, who sought to be saved at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition and her message to her loved ones. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on July 7, 2023.

Lay Practitioner Huang Jinzhu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Huang Jinzhu, and I am filled with such profound gratitude. I am deeply grateful for the compassion of the Buddha, and I am grateful to Practitioner Su for creating such wonderful Causal Conditions for me. I truly do not know how to find the words to describe the depth of the thankfulness I hold in my heart.

Right now, I feel incredibly pure. All the rights and wrongs of the human world, all the things I could not let go of—they are all gone. In every single moment, I am now enjoying the beauty of this Western Land."

A Message to My Family

"I want to speak to my family: it was my daughter, Lirong, who helped me connect with these good Causal Conditions. Lirong has always been such a good, obedient daughter to me. If she shares my words with you, you should believe her. More importantly, you should believe that I am now in a realm where there is absolutely no worry. Many people in the human world do not believe that such a place truly exists. But I want to tell everyone: the beauty here is far greater than anything you could ever imagine. Everyone is equal here. Anyone can come to the Western Land, but you must first return to a heart of pure Goodness.

The Moment of Being Saved

When I was being guided by Practitioner Su, I chanted the Buddha-name loudly, and I saw the Buddha immediately. I have described so much to you because I truly hope that all of you will believe, and that you will seize this rare and precious good Causal Condition while you have the chance.

I know that you all still have things you cannot let go of, and people you are still attached to. But I have become a living example—a manifestation—to let everyone know that there is still this path of being saved available for you to take.

The Truth About Spiritual Practice

My husband—your father—has also arrived in the Western Land with me today. We are each living the lives we enjoy here in the Western Land, and in the future, I will continue to learn diligently from the Buddha. Since arriving in the Western Land, I have realised that I cannot simply 'bless' or protect the people I care about from afar. Learning the Dharma and chanting the Buddha-name are things each person must do for themselves. Being able to reach the Western Land ultimately depends on your own efforts.

Life in the human world is becoming increasingly difficult. I see that you are all living through such hardship, and so often, you are burdened by far too many afflictions. You must remember: whenever you have afflictions, you must chant the Buddha-name. The Buddha can help everyone remove all obstacles. Do not think that this is superstition. You must have faith—have faith in the Buddha, and have faith in yourself. Only then will you achieve a good result.
