A Mother's Journey to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss
An Interview with the Spirit of Lay Practitioner Yang Qihua
Yang Qihua, the mother of Qiu Yuming, who is the cousin-in-law of Lay Practitioner Lei Hulan, sought deliverance through at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded on September 2, 2022, by the chief writer, Shi Faxin.
Lay Practitioner Yang Qihua speaks:
"My dear children, it is your mother. You must be so surprised to hear my voice like this, aren't you? I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to speak with you again. My heart is filled with such immense , yet it is also heavy with the memories of the long, lonely years that have passed. For so long, I have been unable to see your father, and I have spent countless moments crouching in the shadows, weeping in despair. I felt so utterly helpless, longing with every fibre of my being to be reunited with him and with all of you. But the harsh realities of life separated us, and I found myself trapped in a cycle of longing that I simply could not escape. My heart ached with a pain that felt eternal, until, quite suddenly, a brilliant, radiant light descended to lift me up. I looked up, wondering where I was, and found myself in a place of such profound brightness and peace."
A Mother's Longing and the Light of Deliverance
"At the very beginning, I was filled with confusion. I did not know where I was or how I had arrived there. All I knew was that my heart, which had been so turbulent for so long, finally began to settle. A sense of profound calm washed over me, and once I was truly at peace, my first thought was of you. I wanted to see if you were all doing well. Thankfully, seeing that you were safe brought me a great sense of relief, and my heart finally felt at ease.
As I sat in silence, observing the place that had offered me such incredible help, I was deeply moved. I realised that this place is truly dedicated to helping others. So many people, just like me, have been rescued from the depths of darkness and guided out of their suffering. Witnessing these scenes—things I had never seen before in my life—filled me with such gratitude. I felt a burning desire to contribute, to offer my own Generosity to this sacred Buddha-land so that it might flourish even more and reach out to help countless others. It is a source of great regret to me that, in my current state, I can no longer perform such acts of giving directly."
The Miraculous Work of the Centre
"My dear children, please understand that it was this very place that saved your mother. I am also deeply grateful to Lei Hulan for helping us receive Chao Du. It is my sincere hope that the life-saving work carried out here will continue to be passed down through the generations. Both your father and I were rescued by the found here, and we feel a deep sense of duty to repay this kindness. If it is at all possible, I hope that you will complete this mission on our behalf. I ask that you take the time to truly understand this place, to learn about the noble work of saving lives, and to give back to this Buddha-land in honour of your father and me.
You have all achieved so much in your lives, and I am proud of you. But please, never forget the importance of giving back. You must contribute to society and support those who are in need; this is the only way to truly preserve and cherish what you have today. This is a vital lesson, and I hope you will hold it close to your hearts and pass this wisdom on to my grandchildren as well."
A Final Message of Love and Wisdom
"In this world, there will always be times when people must part ways. I hope that you will all find a place where you can truly settle your hearts and minds for the future. If the Causal Conditions are right, I hope you will follow the path of the Buddha, just as your father and I have done.
Today, I am happy to tell you that your father and I have both reached the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am so incredibly grateful to those who helped us, for it is only through their compassion that I, Yang Qihua, am able to speak to you now. Please, remember the words I have shared with you today, and please, on my behalf, express my deepest thanks to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre and to Practitioner Su for all their help.
Whether you believe it or not, I want you to know that I no longer suffer. My heart has become truly peaceful, open, and bright. It is my deepest wish that my children, and everyone I have ever known, will one day have the opportunity to know Namo Amituofo and to come to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am so very grateful. Namo Amituofo."
