A Statesman's Final Counsel: The Path to the Western Pure Land
An Interview with the Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew
Recorded on July 6, 2018
This interview was recorded on July 6, 2018, featuring the spirit of the late Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew. Having sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia, he now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. From this vantage point, he shares his profound insights on the afterlife and his earnest hopes for his son and the people of Singapore.
Lee Kuan Yew speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. During my time in the human world, I was known for my decisiveness and my boldness in handling affairs. Whenever I believed a course of action was correct and beneficial to the people, I would move forward without hesitation or regret. That was the way I governed.
Now, however, I wish to dedicate myself to something entirely different: the spreading of the Buddha’s teachings to benefit all living beings. Having personally experienced the profound benefits of the , I feel a deep responsibility to repay the grace of the Buddha. Every day, I follow Practitioner Su in the work of . Witnessing the boundless number of suffering beings, I feel even more compelled to contribute my own strength to this cause.
The Reality of the Western Pure Land
Though I no longer possess a physical body, I can share what I observe daily while following these deliverance ceremonies. I want everyone to understand that the Western Pure Land is a genuine reality, not a mere figment of the imagination. Singapore is a place where many religions coexist, and I do not wish to reject any other path. However, I am a true beneficiary and witness to the vastness of the Buddha’s teachings. I have realised that while the human body inevitably perishes with the passage of time, the spirit is unborn and undying.
Where do we go after death? This is the point that causes fear and panic for most people. But when we realise that there is a Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss—a place of refuge where we can truly 'immigrate'—the heart can finally be at peace.
The Simplicity of True Practice
So many Buddhist scriptures expound upon the profound philosophy of the Dharma. Yet, here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, where Namo Amituofo resides, the practice is explained in such simple, clear terms. We are told that we do not need to master complex, lengthy sutras. The primary task is to transform the habits and personality traits we have accumulated over countless lifetimes. We must cultivate and expand our mind-capacity, allowing ourselves to rediscover our true self through constant purification.
These efforts are being led by Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, where a group of students is diligently practising, hoping to shoulder the great mission of saving the world.
A Father's Message to His Son
It is my deepest hope that my son, Hsien Loong, will read these words. I hope he can find a true spiritual outlet for the people of Singapore. By starting with the human heart and human nature, one can truly achieve the power to bring stability to society. This Centre is a place well worth supporting. They require both human and financial resources to continue their work. This is the true Great Dharma of Namo Amituofo.
While it may be complex to support the operations of a Buddhist temple from the perspective of a state, I hope you will do your utmost to help these students. After all, we have yet to repay the debt of gratitude we owe to Practitioner Su and Namo Amituofo for saving our wisdom-life. This is a path to rebirth in the Western Pure Land that cannot be purchased with billions of dollars.
Although I am no longer in the human world, I hope my words still carry weight in your heart and can ferment into the elements of your future actions. As long as it is in support of the temple, I will support whatever you choose to do. Time is pressing. Every day, I see so many spirits and ghosts in need of help, and only then do I realise how precious it is to possess a human body. Please, cherish it dearly!
Your father sends his from the Western Pure Land! Namo Amituofo!"
Recorded by the disciple Haipin.
