A Wake-up Call from Beyond the Veil
An Interview with the Spirit of Liao Yingwei
A Message to his Friend, Lay Practitioner Wang Jinbo
Liao Yingwei, a friend of Lay Practitioner Wang Jinbo, sought deliverance through the compassionate intervention of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. This testimony was recorded on May 22, 2020, as Liao reflects on his transition from the suffering of the world to the peace of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Liao Yingwei speaks:
"My old friend! This world is nothing but a dream—have you finally woken up yet? Where are the wife you once cherished, the daughter you once held dear? Where are they now? I am like a wisp of thin smoke drifting through the air. Who would ever know that one of these wisps is actually me? I am Liao Yingwei. Who remembers the name Liao Yingwei? If it were not for your courageous wife who reached out to save me, who knows where the soul of Liao Yingwei would be languishing today? You are still slumbering in the dream, but I have already awakened."
The Illusion of Worldly Attachments
"My dear old friend Wang Jinbo, please, stop being so lost. The family you love so dearly right now will eventually have to leave you. What is it in this world that you are most reluctant to let go of? There are so many things, aren't there? I know there are many attachments that keep you tethered to this life. But you must let them go. None of these things truly belong to us. If you wait until the very moment of death to finally wake up, it will be far too late to say anything at all."
The Reality of Suffering
"I am here all by myself now. It has been a long time since I was a person of this world. You saw what I looked like in my final years—was that even like a human being anymore? Do you know what the most foolish thing about being human is? It is living a life that barely resembles a human existence, yet still desperately wanting to continue living as a human. You are getting old now, too. You cannot walk as you once did, you cannot eat much, and the chronic pain in your body makes you suffer through endless torment. Even though these days are incredibly difficult to endure, you still drag yourself through them, day after day. This body will eventually have a day when it stops functioning entirely. Have you ever stopped to think about what will happen to you when that time comes? Please, I urge you, chant Buddha's name with all your heart!"
The Path to
"Your wife is truly exceptional. Given my current status, it is only right that I refer to her as Practitioner Su; she has truly become a Buddha. Do you realise that? She made the right choice. Learning the is truly the most important thing in existence. Without the teachings of the Buddha, it would be impossible for us to ever wake up from this long, dark slumber. Regardless of whether you believe these words of mine, you should at least trust your own wife, shouldn't you? I am so deeply grateful to her. Without her rescue, I could never have reached this place of peace. You, too, must wake up. Please, chant Buddha's name diligently."
This interview message was recorded by the chief writer, Buddhist disciple Shi Fajing.
