The Sacred Duty of Transmission

To carry forward the legacy of the is to combine spirit with responsibility. When you possess the virtues, knowledge, experience, skills, or natural abilities passed down by your ancestors or teachers, and these gifts can benefit all beings, you have a profound duty. You must continue to teach and pass these treasures on to those who follow. This ensures that the wisdom of the Dharma is transmitted from generation to generation, never to be interrupted.

This is even more vital when we consider the great matter of leaving the cycle of rebirth behind and attaining liberation from life and death. We are speaking of the Dharma Gate, which allows us to enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The One Vehicle Buddhism is the supreme teaching that leads one to realise one's true nature and attain Buddhahood.

The Responsibility of the Sangha

Within the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, where Namo Amituofo truly abides, every individual carries the responsibility to inherit the past and inspire the future, ensuring the Pure Land teachings continue to flourish. This is especially true for the Sangha Jewel, the community of monks and nuns who serve as the pillars of the Dharma.

At this moment, you must be fiercely diligent in your practice. You must focus on the purification of your body, heart, and spirit. Seeking the time of your own is the most concrete action you can take to carry forward this legacy.

Living the Teachings

Carrying forward the legacy is not merely about what you say or what you think in your heart. The most important aspect is to practise what you preach and to lead by example. You must possess a heart of and a sincere vow to save yourself and to save all beings.

  • Embodying Compassion: Your actions must reflect the love and mercy of the Buddha.
  • Saving Beings: You must actively work to help others leave suffering behind and find happiness.
  • Authentic Practice: Do not let your practice remain only in your words; let it manifest in your daily life.
