Deliverance to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss: Lay Practitioner Su Yang-ran

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Su Yang-ran, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the cycle of rebirth to the Pure Land. Lay Practitioner Su Yang-ran speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am so deeply grateful to Namo Amituofo and to Practitioner Su. I, Su Yang-ran, have finally arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and have seen the Buddha. I truly do not know how I could ever repay Practitioner Su for saving me. It has been such a long time since I felt this clear-headed and lucid.

The Weight of Unresolved Hatred

Even now, I cannot stop crying. The tears just keep flowing. It was so bitter, so incredibly bitter! When I was alive in the human world, my body was essentially taken over by others long ago. From the very moment that hatred first took root in my heart, my karmic creditors had already seized control of my mind. They began to use my body to carry out their vengeance. Because of this, my personality deteriorated, and my temper grew increasingly volatile. I was completely unable to control myself or my actions.

The suffering I endured for so many years eventually caused my body to collapse into illness. Countless karmic creditors were waiting to seize me. In my past, I had truly created immense negative karma. I did not know how to repay the debts I owed to others. I had harmed so many people—all of them were victims of my actions. Naturally, they were filled with resentment, which is why they sought me out to settle the score.

Confronting the Past

I only caught a tiny glimpse of the evil deeds I had committed in the past—just a small fraction—and I was already too terrified to look any further. It was as if I were watching a villainous woman from a television drama. I could not believe that I was that kind of wicked person, but that was truly who I was in the past. I felt such profound fear and deep remorse for having committed so many heinous and heartless acts. That is why, when I was later at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I chanted Namo Amituofo incessantly. I kept chanting, hoping that it would help those whom I had harmed.

My mind had long since lost its clarity. Whatever my karmic creditors wanted me to think or say, my brain would simply follow their commands. This was all my own karma, my own fate. I accept it all, and I offer my deepest repentance. I am so sorry to all of them.

A New Beginning in the Pure Land

Now, I have the great blessing of being saved by Practitioner Su. I am filled with gratitude. Without Practitioner Su, I would still be suffering in the hells! I also want to thank my son, Su Yong-xu. We shared a karmic connection in the past, which is why we became mother and son in this life. I am so thankful that he still thought of me, his mother, and provided me with the opportunity to leave the hells and arrive here in the Western Land, where I will never have to suffer again.

I am doing very well here now. I no longer feel any bitterness, because I will remain here, chanting Namo Amituofo and listening to the Buddha give Dharma talks. You do not need to worry about me anymore. Just focus on your own practice and chant Namo Amituofo diligently.
