Deliverance to the Western Land: The Testimony of Lay Practitioner Huang Pingmei

Lay Practitioner Huang Pingmei, the mother of Lay Practitioner Zhong Fuying, sought deliverance through Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having successfully transcended the cycle of rebirth, she now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview, which captures her reflections on her journey through many lifetimes and her final liberation, was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on May 12, 2023.

Lay Practitioner Huang Pingmei speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Today, I am truly filled with gratitude and deeply moved. This emotion comes from the realisation that my spirit has been waiting for this very day for such a long, long time.

I have been trapped in the cycle of rebirth for aeons, taking on the form of a man, a woman, an animal, and even a ghost. Throughout this process, I have experienced far too many emotions—too many highs and too many lows. I felt as though I could never stop this endless turning. Most of the time, I chose to lose myself in the roles I was playing, and because of that, I was never able to truly wake up in any of my lifetimes.

The Burden of Roles and the Reality of Suffering

In this current lifetime, I played my roles with great sincerity. I worked hard to be a good daughter, a devoted wife, and a loving mother. Yet, in every one of these stages, there was so much suffering mixed with the joy. There were countless moments where I chose to swallow my pain and keep it all inside. I was afraid that if I spoke of my struggles, I would only cause afflictions for others or spark unnecessary conflicts.

My relationships with my husband and my children were all tests for me. I was fortunate enough to overcome these trials one by one. But eventually, I grew old. In the end, I still had to face the inevitable reality of birth, aging, sickness, and death. No matter how afraid I was, and no matter how much I did not want to be separated from all of you, the time for separation finally arrived.

The Truth of Samsara

It was only when my daughter performed the Chao Du for me, guiding my spirit to the radiant Buddha-land, that I could finally see the truth of these many lives clearly: every single person is caught in the cycle of rebirth.

My dear children, your mother has finally ended her cycle of rebirth at this moment. But what about you? I truly hope that you, too, can wake up. There is no need to calculate or fight over anything. Do not pursue things that you cannot take with you into the future.

A Mother's Final Wish

Once the role of this lifetime is finished, where will you go? If your spirit is to find a place of true rest, only the Buddha can help you. This is not superstition. I hope you will take the time to understand this deeply. I hope that once you know these truths, you will also be able to help others understand the great importance of achieving liberation.

In the future, I hope to see all of you in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo."
