In this thirteenth instalment of his ongoing series of talks, Practitioner Su delves into a profound and essential topic: the nature of emotion and desire. How do these forces shape our journey through the cycle of rebirth, and how can we transcend them to find true peace?

The Veils of Emotion and Desire

Emotion and desire are the primary anchors that bind us to the six realms of rebirth. They are the subtle, often invisible, currents that pull our away from the clarity of our true nature. When we allow ourselves to be governed by these impulses, we find ourselves trapped in a cycle of suffering, constantly seeking satisfaction in a world that is inherently impermanent.

The Path to Liberation

To leave suffering behind and find happiness, one must learn to observe these emotions without becoming attached to them. This is not about suppressing our humanity, but about transforming our perspective. By aligning our lives with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, we begin to see that true fulfilment does not come from the satisfaction of worldly desires, but from the purification of our body, mind, and spirit.

The Sanctuary of the Buddha's Name

Practitioner Su reminds us that the most effective method for this transformation is the practice of chanting Namo Amituofo. By keeping the Buddha's name at the forefront of our minds, we create a sanctuary of stillness. In this space, the turbulent waves of emotion and desire begin to settle, allowing our original nature to shine through. This is the path to and Buddhahood, a journey that is open to all who are willing to practise with sincerity and faith.

Let us continue to work diligently, purifying our hearts and minds, so that we may one day return to the of Ultimate Bliss. May we all chant Namo Amituofo all the way.
