Finding the Path Home to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Lu Yumei, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the suffering of the human realm to the peace of the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on December 2, 2024.

Lay Practitioner Lu Yumei speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am so deeply grateful to Practitioner Su for guiding me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. When I finally beheld the Buddha, all the suffering I had endured throughout my life could finally be laid down. The Buddha allowed me to feel nothing but warmth and compassion, and that presence smoothed out every jagged edge within my heart.

I am also profoundly grateful to my nephew, Chunming. It was through his help and support that I was finally able to emerge from the depths of my suffering. Now, the path ahead of me is filled with nothing but brilliant light.

The Return to My True Home

My heart has finally opened up. The magnetic field emitted by the Buddha is so incredibly beautiful and serene. Having arrived here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I feel as though I have returned to my true home. My heart is overflowing with a sense of complete satisfaction and peace.

For the longest time, I was trapped—truly imprisoned by my own mind. I was stuck in the midst of interpersonal conflicts and life events that I felt were unfair or unsatisfactory. I would dwell on them constantly, and those painful scenes would play over and over again in my mind like a broken record. I asked myself so many questions, desperately trying to find an answer, trying to find a way out. But the more I tried to force it, the more I struggled, the deeper I sank. I blamed myself for not being good enough, for not handling things better.

Breaking Free from the Cycle of Suffering

Only now do I realise that these persistent, negative thoughts were the very things torturing me, causing me such immense pain and misery. A part of this was also due to my karmic creditors seeking retribution; they would seize those moments when I was lost in thought to pull me deeper into the darkness.

I understand now that the root of all these problems was my own attachment. I was completely unable to break free on my own, no matter how hard I tried, until the Buddha came to my aid. After the Buddha saved me, my entire being was filled with light and boundless energy. My heart began to open in ways I never thought possible.

A Smile Born of Liberation

Now that I have arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, a natural smile has returned to my face, and my heart has become vast and expansive. All the things I once found impossible to let go of have simply vanished. This transformation is so profound that even I could not have imagined it.

Although I still have family in the human world, I am now willing to let go of those attachments. Orbiting within the Buddha-light and the resonance of the Buddha-name, I sincerely hope that my family will also have the Causal Conditions to know that they should follow the Buddha. Living in the human realm is far too exhausting and filled with too much suffering. Therefore, seeking liberation is the only true path.

I am so thankful to Chunming for helping me find this bright, clear path. I hope that you and all our family members find peace and success in everything you do. I look forward to the day we meet again in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.
