This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Gu Dexin, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transition from the suffering of the lower realms to the peace of the Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on November 26, 2021.

Lay Practitioner Gu Dexin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am truly sorry to have caused everyone such worry, but I am now safely in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

I am filled with immense gratitude for the compassionate Namo Amituofo and the great Practitioner Su! These past few days have felt like a dream—it all feels so surreal, as if I am still drifting through a dreamscape. Yet, it is real. It has truly, undeniably happened. I have been saved! I have truly returned to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss!

A Debt of Gratitude

Thank you, Liping, for remembering me, your uncle-in-law. Without your help, I would still be suffering in the hells right now. Looking back, my life feels as though it just began; in the blink of an eye, these few years have come to an end. I took nothing with me when I left, save for a body burdened by heavy sins.

It was here, under the guidance of Practitioner Su, that I slowly began to awaken. By listening to the talks given by Practitioner Su, I finally understood what the Truth is, and what the true principles of life are. I understood none of this before. Living a life without this knowledge is the most meaningless existence of all. Yet, in the past, I never felt this way. I did not think I was living in vain; I felt that I was living each day with purpose and stability. How truly ignorant I was! I allowed my life to slip away so easily, never to return.

The Loneliness of the Afterlife

I lived in this world for decades, but after I passed away, all that remained were the memories and longing of my family. My heart was filled with such agony, and the retribution I faced after death was even more excruciating. In truth, when I was undergoing my , I could no longer recall the events of my past life. It felt too distant, as if it belonged to an entirely different world.

I was terrified and utterly helpless. I knew that no one could come to save me; I had to face those cruel tortures alone, confronting my own cycle of rebirth and the bleakness of my future. I imagine this is the feeling every person experiences after death, is it not? It is a truly profound and crushing loneliness.

A New Beginning

Now, I have been saved. I am filled with such surprise and ! The moment I regained my clarity, I wept uncontrollably. My heart is overflowing with gratitude. Thank you, Practitioner Su. Thank you, Liping. Thank you to everyone who helped me.

With deepest bows, Gu Dexin."

Namo Amituofo.
