From the Rabbit Realm to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

An Interview with the Spirit of Gao Arong

Gao Arong, the father of Lay Practitioner Gao Yiting (formerly known as Gao Zhilan), sought spiritual deliverance through the compassionate efforts of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. This interview, recorded by Venerable HaiZe on October 15, 2021, captures his profound transition from the cycle of rebirth in the animal realm to his ultimate arrival in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

Gao Arong speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Zhilan, my dear daughter, it is your father speaking. Today, your mother and I were guided by Practitioner Su to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. We have only just arrived, and I am completely stunned. How could a place be this beautiful? It truly took us by surprise! Every time I witnessed the assembly, I saw so many beings seeking to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. In my heart, I knew that it must be a wonderful place, but I never imagined it would be this magnificent—far better than anything I could have ever conceived. It is radiant, vast, and everything is shimmering with light!"

A Daughter's Filial Piety

"Originally, I thought that if Practitioner Su were to lead everyone back to Taiwan one day, you would be able to come and see us off. However, it seems that a return to Taiwan will not happen in the short term, so we have come here first. In a way, this also settles a matter that has been weighing on your heart. Father knows that you are a filial and sensible daughter. This time, you knew to help your father and mother seek Chao Du; you have done so well! If you had not, I would still be a rabbit right now!"

The Inescapable Laws of

"I never expected that I would fall into such a state. It was a beam of light that pulled my spirit out of the rabbit's body and brought me to the . Only then did I realise that I had been reborn as a rabbit. Perhaps it was related to the fact that in my past life, I had caught rabbits and eaten rabbit meat. The laws of karma and cause and effect are inescapable; not a single bit can be avoided. It is fortunate that you encountered Practitioner Su, for only then was there a way to help your father escape the animal realm. Otherwise, who knows how long I would have been trapped in that rabbit body!"

The Path of True Cultivation

"Practitioner Su is a practitioner with great cultivation. That you were able to meet such a true practitioner is a sign that you must have accumulated and done good deeds in your past lives. Being a human is not an easy thing. Since you are already chanting Namo Amituofo, once you have met a true practitioner, you must hold on tight and follow their guidance. Otherwise, a lifetime passes by in the blink of an eye, and you will not know where you are headed in your next life. If you chant Namo Amituofo now—and chant it well—you will not need to rely on others for Chao Du in the future; you will be able to come to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss yourself. Wouldn't that be wonderful? Relying on others is never as certain as relying on yourself; that is where true hope lies."

Gratitude and Final Reflections

"While living in this world, we must trust the people we encounter, whether they are good or bad. When we meet good people and receive their kindness, we must know how to be grateful. When we meet bad people, we should also thank them for helping us eliminate our karmic obstacles. This is your father's personal experience: live your life well, and practise chanting Namo Amituofo well."

"Your mother and I are so happy to have such a sensible and filial daughter; this life of yours has been lived with true value. You must take good care of yourself. As Practitioner Su often teaches us, we should strive to be free from aging and illness, and once we reach the Western Land, we will no longer face death. If you can achieve this, then your study of the Dharma will not have been in vain. This is what I learned from listening to Practitioner Su's Dharma talks, and I find it to be very profound. Thank you, Namo Amituofo, Practitioner Su, and everyone at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Namo Amituofo."
