Disciple Shi Faxi respectfully invites Namo Amituofo to provide compassionate teachings for the fourfold assembly of disciples. Namo Amituofo graciously responds, calling upon the disciple to record these words for the benefit of all beings.

The Unceasing Cycle of Birth and Death

The years pass in a fleeting rush, and time flows on with an unceasing, rhythmic constancy. It does not pause for the people of this world, yet the cycle of birth and death continues unabated. The cycle of reincarnation turns without asking for the permission of worldly beings. The laws of and cause and effect are absolute, and they continue to pass their definitive judgment upon every soul.

The ten realms of existence are determined by the state of one's heart and defined by the nature of one's . Because the consciousness still clings to a sense of home and belonging within the cycle of rebirth, one remains trapped. There is no true liberation and no ultimate resolution to be found while the heart remains attached to these illusions. These false appearances are like a child tightly clutching a toy, refusing to let go, and it is this very attachment that creates the heavy burden of karmic sins. Every consequence—whether it be merit or demerit, disaster or fortune—is entirely self-created.

The Lotus Path in a Muddy World

We walk through the Saha world, and every step we take feels as though we are wading through thick, clinging mud. However, it is possible to step out of this mire and bloom like a lotus flower, with every step becoming clear and pure. This transformation depends entirely upon the heart and how one begins the process of purification. As Practitioner Su has rightly stated, one must be purely good and purely clean, seeing all beings as one body without division.

To maintain purity within a world of turbidity, and to further clarify that turbidity, is the essence of saving beings. This path requires that you have no discrimination, no attachments, no rigid views, and no wandering thoughts or strange delusions. When your work is done, you must ensure that your actions are not contrary to the Truth. All thoughts should return to the original emptiness of .

The True Test of the Vow

Devote your heart entirely to the mission of reaching the of Ultimate Bliss. Do not allow yourself to deviate; keep your focus on the direct path. The journey may be bumpy or have its twists and turns, but if your Faith and Vows are strong, there is no need for fear. If your purpose is to save the world or to spread the , you will surely receive protection on your journey.

Many practitioners struggle with being drowsy, but this is not merely a physical need for sleep; it is a test of your vow. If your vow is weak, or if your sincerity and faith are lacking, you will inevitably fall into a state of mental cloudiness. The spirits that surround you can see your heart clearly. They know whether you are true or false, and they will either respect you or despise you based on your actions. Every person must fulfil their own duties with authenticity; otherwise, one is merely a person of empty vows and wild delusions.

A Direct Flight to the Western Pure Land

How can you expect to serve the spirits and resolve the grievances of others if your own practice is not sound? The path of practice should be joyful and free from unnecessary pressure. Simply move forward with a broad and open heart. This journey toward the Western Pure Land is a direct flight, with no intermediate stops. It is a straight path dedicated to saving the world.

You must possess both virtue and conduct. As disciples of the Buddha, you must practise this path well and cease all fearful thoughts. Do not speak of illusory matters. Instead, focus entirely on purification, and then add even more purification to your practice. Be diligent and maintain a clear, authentic mind. When the time comes for beings to enter the Pure Land, the gates to the West will be opened. This journey is a continuous process; as long as you do not stop, you will succeed. Walk straight ahead, be resolute, and with a courageous heart, you will surely reach your destination.
