Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Turmoil: Chinese Leadership and Sentient Beings with Karmic Affinity
Rectifying Body and Mind

In July 2018, the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre held a magnificent assembly in Hong Kong. Over the course of five days, offered essential teachings to guide all beings toward the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. As the light of the Buddha enters the world, it seeks out those spirits who have long been lost in the darkness of ignorance, offering them a clear path to return to their original, luminous nature. This is a time of great spiritual harvest, where the benefits of the Dharma are made manifest for all who are connected by karmic affinity.
Many souls have wandered in the darkness for countless lifetimes, trapped by fear, confusion, and the heavy weight of their own attachments. Namo Amituofo teaches that the exit from this suffering lies within one's own heart. By returning to the light of your true self, you can find the peace that has long eluded you. You are encouraged to take hold of this precious opportunity, make your vows, and follow the Buddha-light home. This is not merely a lecture, but a magnificent spiritual course designed to help you find your way back to the source of all light.
On the second day, Namo Amituofo addressed the common attachment to the physical body. Many beings remain trapped in the cycle of rebirth because they cling to their human form, believing it to be their true self. However, this body is merely a temporary vessel, a borrowed skin that will eventually fade. Whether you are currently in the human world or the spirit realm, you must realise that these forms are transient and ultimately empty. To continue to cling to them is to remain bound to the cycle of suffering.
Namo Amituofo urges all present to stop wandering and instead focus on the path of the Buddha-name. Do not let your spirit be distracted by the fleeting dust of this world. True connection is found in the Dharma, not in the temporary ties of human relationships. By understanding the emptiness of these attachments, you can begin your journey toward the Truth. You are encouraged to see through the dream of life and align your heart with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
On the third day, the focus shifted to the turbulence of the human mind. Our personalities and mental habits often create ripples that obscure our true nature. When you are caught in the grip of your own desires and self-centered thoughts, you drift away from the path of awakening. Namo Amituofo teaches that to maintain a pure heart, one must be vigilant against the subtle movements of the mind. When you encounter challenges, do not let them become obstacles; instead, use these moments as tests of your sincerity and your commitment to the Dharma.
By practising the cultivation of , Concentration, and Wisdom, you can calm the waves of emotion and return to a state of clarity and stillness. When your mind is in sync with the Buddha, the confusion of the spirit will dissipate. You must learn to be the master of your own mind, ensuring that every mental note is aligned with the Buddha-name. This is the path to true liberation, where the spirit is no longer tossed about by the winds of emotion.
On the fourth day, Namo Amituofo spoke of the preciousness of time. Years flow by like a dream, and once they are gone, they cannot be reclaimed. Many people live their lives in a state of confusion, unaware that they are caught in a web of their own making. You must grasp the present moment to awaken from this dream. The Buddha-path is open to you, but you must be willing to discard the dust of the world. Do not let another lifetime pass in ignorance; the time to act is now.
By establishing a firm resolve and chanting Namo Amituofo with a sincere heart, you can break free from the cycle of rebirth. The Buddha is waiting for you to turn your heart toward the light. Every moment is an opportunity to purify your and align yourself with the Buddha-vows. If you are truly sincere in your desire to return to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, you must be diligent in your practice and unwavering in your faith.
On the final day, Namo Amituofo spoke of the Pure Land of Lotus, a place of ultimate awakening and the true home for all beings. Throughout your many lives, you have worn many skins—human, animal, and spirit—but your true nature remains constant. It is time to stop asking why you suffer and start asking how you can serve. To truly benefit from the Dharma, you must cultivate , a vast mind-capacity, and absolute sincerity. These are the qualities that will lead you to the Buddha-land.
Namo Amituofo calls upon all disciples to continue their diligent practice. Whether you are in Hong Kong or Australia, the path is the same. By following the Buddha-vows and dedicating your life to the salvation of others through , you will find that you are never alone. Walk with the Buddha, and you will surely reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. May all beings find their way back to the original light, and may your practice be a beacon of hope for the entire world.
