The Ancient Demon of the Earth: A Revelation from the Depths
An Interview with the Spirit of Mo Di Luo, an Ancient Demon of 180,000 Trillion Years
Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 22, 2025
This is a record of an interview with Mo Di Luo, an ancient demon who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his existence spanning approximately 180,000 trillion years. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 22, 2025.
Mo Di Luo speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. My name is Mo Di Luo. From my name, you can tell that I am related to the earth. That is correct; I am a Rakshasa who manages the land on my planet, hence the name Mo Di Luo. This is very similar to the character of the demon crowds. The so-called Rakshasas on Earth are beings who have accumulated tremendous but possess a difficult temperament. In the Dharma Realm, there are also Rakshasas; they exist everywhere. Animals have their Rakshasas, and plants—do not think plants are without them; they exist there too. There are Rakshasas in the heavens, and among humans, those with difficult personalities are also Rakshasas. The name itself signifies a strong, volatile, and easily angered temperament, which is the hallmark of a Rakshasa. Is this not very similar to the demon crowds?"
The Nature of the Demon Crowds
"The demon crowds are diverse, possessing all kinds of temperaments. Some are polite but hide daggers in their smiles; some appear angry but are actually the gentlest among the demon crowds; others have poor personalities, are easily angered, and are quick to give you a hard time. Among the demon crowds, there are even female Rakshasas—we call them female Di Luo—who are known for pulling hair, kicking, and striking others.
I am a representative of the males. If you mention our female Di Luo, they are truly terrifying! Although they may not have the raw physical strength of the male Di Luo, their tongues are sharp and unforgiving. They often wound the hearts of many beings with their words, whether behind their backs or right to their faces. I mention both the male and female Rakshasas together because, among the Di Luo Rakshasas subdued by Practitioner Su this time, many female Di Luo were also sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This part is often overlooked by everyone, but are not women and men the two genders in this universe? Those who are neither or both are anomalies. But pure male and pure female are two essential roles in the universe. Ladies first, so let me say a few words for the female Rakshasas. They possess great blessings; in their past lives, they must have done many good deeds."
The Universal Principle of Cause and Effect
"Good and bad deeds exist in every Dharma Realm and every space on Earth. This is called the universal principle, the Truth, and the righteous path: doing good brings good retribution, and doing evil brings evil retribution. This is not something only humans on Earth can say. We in the demon realm certainly know this, and the beings on other planets in other spaces know this as well. But can they actually do it? Those who can, those who specialize in doing good, are called good people. In the demon realm, there is actually a small portion of demons who specialize in doing good deeds. Although they are easily discriminated against and looked down upon, we call them 'good demons.' However, most demons do not do good deeds; good deeds are not what demons do. Those who specialize in doing evil are called 'evil demons.'
I suppose you have all heard of evil demons often. Have you never heard of good demons? As I said, in the demon realm, there are all kinds of temperaments and personalities. Of course, there are good ones, and I want to speak a few fair words for them, because among the list of those selected for deliverance, most are evil demons who have done evil deeds. I am not clear about the good demons; perhaps the ancient demons who came later include some good demons, which is how they have managed to survive for so long. I hold them in high regard; after all, it is not easy to be good in a world of evil demons. But their will is firm, and they must have many hidden thoughts or past events unknown to other demons. We do not open our hearts to each other, nor do we ask them to speak out, but through their actions, words, and thoughts, they truly act in this way. Honestly, we respect these good demons a bit, although we would not show it on the surface, because you would be looked down upon for doing so. But if one is a good person in the human world, one is openly treated with courtesy and respect, and can even advance in practice to the Four Sacred Realms."
The Four Sacred Realms and the Buddha-Light
"The term 'Four Sacred Realms' and the concept of 'respected sages' are things I only saw after arriving at the Western Land of Dharma Nature. At the , one can see many sages with golden light on their heads and a brilliant glow behind them. They must be the sages of the Four Sacred Realms, also coming to seek deliverance from Namo Amituofo. Sages on Earth can receive such courtesy, but the good demons in the demon realm do not have such luck. However, I believe that the laws of will also treat them with some courtesy.
Regarding the female Di Luo mentioned earlier, why are these Rakshasas not on the surface but underground? Hehe, they can survive underground because the total darkness matches their temperament. Eh? Do demons not all like darkness? But in the darkness, sometimes a ray of hope appears, which the Rakshasas do not like. So, they simply moved all the Rakshasas of the evil demon crowds underground. Our ancestors treated us this way, so we have lived this way ever since. One can see on many planets that such a custom exists. It is not only Earth that has customs; the demon realm has them too. Therefore, the Di Luo Rakshasas are Rakshasas who live underground. Consequently, many ancient demons choose to live underground. They must greet us, which is necessary, as we manage the underground. This ensures they can live quietly without interference and spend their later years in retirement."
Technology Within Technology
"Translating these concepts into Earth's language reveals many similarities. Indeed, if we speak of the universal principle and the Truth, many principles are common to all parties, without the limitations of time and space. Perhaps the shape, the living environment, the way of interaction, or the language used—some do not use language but communicate through mental notes, which is the case for most demons—are different. This is the general situation. Others use language, perhaps a dialect only they understand. I have heard it, but I do not understand it. Although it is the language of beings on planets in the Dharma Realm, dialects differ everywhere. It is not only the human world on Earth that has dialects; planets have them too. Especially Earth, which is just a small planet... I apologize, I should be more polite! Earth is a small planet, yet it has so many dialects. Many planets in the universe are ten or twenty times larger than Earth.
Such planets naturally house all kinds of beings, and there is more than one dialect. So, the language used depends on where the demons live. What I admire most about the Buddha's teachings is that they can take the messages conveyed by demons—whether through dialects or mental notes—and translate them into a language you can understand! This truly has the Buddha's blessings. I wonder what kind of mechanism can achieve this? For example, what I am saying now is the mental note of the demons on our planet, but we also use language to communicate, just converted into thoughts, not sound. This is definitely not something you would understand. But to be able to speak it out at such a speed—this Buddha-land is truly different. What kind of factor is involved in this conversion? I am very interested; I am a curious demon, a curious Di Luo Rakshasa. Adding the word 'demon' on our planet is also acceptable. This is called 'technology within technology,' a term I learned from Practitioner Su's Dharma talks recently.
At first, I did not understand what 'technology on Earth' meant. Later, I understood it refers to advanced ways of transmitting information quickly. For example, cooking food—your food is truly fragrant! We do not need to eat, but it smells quite pleasant, and it is very fragrant; one can even smell it in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. But we do not consume food; we consume energy, living on the energy within light. But smelling it is also quite happy! For example, when you cook food, some use a microwave, which can cook food very quickly; this is called technology. And the mobile phones you humans use can transmit information across space, no matter how far apart, allowing communication; this is called technology. So, may I ask, the language I am transmitting now has become something you all understand, though it is not what we used at the time, but the meaning is the same. Is this not 'technology within technology'? My explanation should not be too far off, right? It turns out that many parts of the Buddha's teachings are 'technology within technology,' just not explicitly pointed out. Practitioner Su explicitly pointed it out, which is refreshing and makes one even more respectful of the Buddha's teachings."
The Life of an Ancient Demon
"Among the Di Luo Rakshasas, I am an old demon. My age here is called 180,000 trillion years, a very long time. I have lived underground for so long that people must think: 'How can one survive underground? It is pitch black, and there seems to be no air!' Humans need air, but the amount of spiritual air needed is not much; most is maintained by energy. Underground is enough to maintain the survival of their spirits. But do not underestimate any grain of sand underground. In fact, on a planet, one must see if it is a physical planet or an invisible planet. The so-called invisible planet refers to a planet in the spiritual realm; this concept needs to be clarified.
For example, let me talk about Earth: Earth has a physical entity, but the people living on this entity have bodies, so everyone can see them clearly, including many animals, flowers, trees, mountains, and rivers, all of which have physical entities, so their existence is known. But in the unseen space, there are even more spirits, of all kinds. Similarly, planets in the Dharma Realm also have a physical entity, and there are living beings on them. If they have bodies, you can see them. Even if aliens visit, they can see a meteorite or a rock underground; they have to analyze it to know if it is a meteorite. Simply put, there is a rock, a pit, or a few drops of water; these are the living beings on the planet. Because they cannot see the existence of beings like humans or planetary people with a physical shell, they think they are looking at space—empty, completely empty. But the way they exist is through the spirit. Those with physical entities exist in the form of rocks, pits, or water droplets. Furthermore, some planets have aliens who indeed have human-like shells, transparent, strange-looking, but they are not the majority; they are very few.
So, do Di Luo Rakshasas have shells? Let me tell you, we are the spiritual part. Now, those sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature are all spirit beings. Even if they once had shells, they have already discarded them, having passed away naturally. Sometimes, these spirits died in interstellar wars, their shells falling on the surface of the planet, but the spirits were absorbed underground. Because there was no energy and they were broken, in this period of life, they had to be buried underground. Only when light shines on them again will they have the chance to emerge from the surface in the next period of life; this is a new life. Do you understand now? This is called the myriad phenomena of beings. Some have shells; those with shells must have spirits inside, but having a spirit does not necessarily mean having a shell."
The Habit of Anger and the Buddha's Light
"I am now an old demon of the Mo Di Luo role, accepting an interview. After talking for so long, let me talk about myself. I just gave a brief introduction because the human world on Earth knows little about this. Unless interviewed, how could you imagine that Earth has Rakshasas, and even the Dharma Realm has them? Yes, you do not know the Dharma Realm has Rakshasas; in fact, many planets have them, just labeled as demons, thinking they are demons, but in fact, their personalities are exactly the same as Rakshasas.
Alright, we like to get angry. We get angry easily, get angry when we see something we do not like, and get angry when we hear something we do not like. It seems to be a matter of course; this is called 'every thought and intention.' Fortunately, we do not have bodies, otherwise, my body would probably be unable to bear it, because I learned here that anger easily leads to spiritual attachment. I also see spiritual attachments entering people who get angry. By 'people,' I mean the fourfold assembly of disciples. I see you most clearly. I also look at people outside the temple, but they are definitely no better than you. So if you are like this, they go without saying. I see that when people have a slight fluctuation in their hearts, spiritual attachments begin to enter their bodies; there are so many of them. Plus, demon crowds enter , and these demon crowds naturally include Rakshasas. Do not ignore the Rakshasas; you often mention demons, but I think to myself: 'Alas, is there not a Rakshasa following behind this demon? When you invite spirits, you should also write down Rakshasas to show respect.' Excuse me, I am speaking for the Rakshasas, although I am on a planet, a different world from Earth, but after all, we share the same name.
Getting angry easily is a common trait of Rakshasas, that is correct; it is the same everywhere. So, the Rakshasas underground—if any spirits or demon crowds have visited underground, they know they are divided into many different zones. Because Rakshasas also have zones; he manages this place, another manages that place, and female Rakshasas are also managers. Wow—they are very fierce! We male Rakshasas have to respect them and dare not get too close. They are quite fierce! But they also look quite good; that is the truth! Is this the characteristic of female Rakshasas? We are like this, and it seems Earth is the same.
Speaking of Earth, I know the Buddha's teachings call it the Saha World, Jambudvipa. The Saha World is Earth! The Buddha's teachings are truly brilliant! Shakyamuni Buddha, three thousand years ago, could see so clearly, which shows that the Buddha is truly remarkable. Many Rakshasas or their descendants do not know the Buddha, indeed! But old demons might recognize the Buddha to some extent! So, after I arrived at this Western Land of Dharma Nature, the Buddha I saw was indeed as I recognized the Buddha to be! Very compassionate and very peaceful. The light emitted, even when it shines on us, makes us feel a warm current flowing through our whole body. How could one possibly want to get angry? This anger does not know where it ran off to; even if I wanted to get angry, I could not! This is an experience we have never had before! Previously on the planet, even if you did not want to get angry, you were forced to! After arriving here, being illuminated by the Buddha-light, even if you wanted to get angry, you could not! This is truly a huge transformation!"
The Vow of Practitioner Su
"Furthermore, on our planet, the Mo Di Luo underground is actually a general term. Many Mo Di Luo exist underground; they also have descendants, kings, and old demons, old Rakshasas. Old Rakshasas, honestly, do not like to get angry anymore, because in the past, when they got angry, they learned some lessons and knew that anger is not a good thing. So, I also teach my descendants: 'Control your temperament! Do not get angry easily, do not flare up!' The so-called 'fire burns the forest of merits' can be heard in the Buddha's teachings; in fact, it also happens with the Mo Di Luo on the planet. They themselves have everything they need. Do not think that underground is pitch black and has nothing; that would be wrong! This is another world, different from the world on the surface. Where the demon Rakshasas are, they have everything they need. They like war because they also like to snatch energy, and they are very strong. Like energy storage, it can be used for a long time. If one has good skills, plus some meditative concentration, or gets angry less, energy does not need to be consumed much, and one can live long. So, in my 180,000 trillion years, are there higher demon Rakshasas? Yes, of course! But have they been discovered? Haha! I revealed this secret! I think Practitioner Su is also very caring for the beings underground; he often shines light, and perhaps they have also been sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature.
Mo Di Luo began to live in seclusion around 200,000 trillion years ago; everyone went underground to live in seclusion. So, if I want to live in seclusion, does that mean I am directly underground? That is what I thought, but I did not want to be disturbed, so I did the opposite and went to the surface to live in seclusion, haha! My descendants wanted to find me, but they did not expect me to run to the surface, so I could find a very simple place, a dark place where no one would find me, and stay there. The simpler the place, the less likely it is to be discovered. I did not expect to enter samadhi for 80,000 trillion years; for 100,000 trillion years, I was active underground as a Mo Di Luo, so our battleground was also underground on the planet, not on the surface. The resources underground are quite rich, but human physical eyes cannot see them, unless one has a spirit, like Practitioner Su's , which can reach that place. That is to say, Mo Di Luo from other planets can come to our planet to snatch; perhaps the Mo Di Luo of a planet with great blessings have rich resources and rich energy, so they make a profit. After they attack, they can get a lot of spoils. If the Mo Di Luo who go underground are those with fewer blessings, fewer resources, or living a poor life, the spoils after snatching are limited; this is also one kind of situation. Any kind of situation can happen.
As for the surface where I lived in seclusion, the place that allowed me to enter samadhi peacefully for 80,000 trillion years? One day, I do not know how long it had been, anyway, I entered samadhi. I have no interest in coming out of samadhi; I originally planned to enter samadhi for as long as it took, and when life ended, it would end. Karma had not yet happened around me, but that does not mean it did not exist; perhaps it was on me. If found by karma, it is right to receive retribution. Although I did not do as many tragic attacks as the demon crowds, I also did many evil deeds, and it is time to receive retribution. One day, the light on the surface swept in, which shook me awake from the dark space. We are very sensitive because we are spirits, so once there is movement, unless you enter samadhi and make up your mind that even if I am torn apart, I do not want to come out of samadhi, I feel that if you are still safe, although 80,000 trillion years have passed, my spirit seems quite good, with no damage. So when the light shone on me, I vaguely felt that although I did not want any movement, this light shone once or twice, making me feel very special. Usually, we do not welcome light and do not like to be shone upon, but this light gives people a sense of safety. So, I did not care how long I had been in samadhi; perhaps it was time, so I came out of samadhi."
A New Beginning in the Western Land
"After coming out of samadhi, there was not much time for me to look around at the process; all of this was taken away by the light. In the light, there was actually a moment when I felt, did I arrive in another world? Sure enough, I entered this place, the Western Land of Dharma Nature, where light shines, and many old demons were already there, haha! We are not unfamiliar with the demon crowds; one look and you know, although they are much cleaner and have changed into white, refreshing clothes, we know their previous appearance was a demon, because we can also see their . This is a very basic skill for demon crowds. If the demon children and grandchildren or the descendants of Di Luo can put in the work in this aspect, it will be very helpful to you. But this also requires enough sensitivity to see the other party's Alaya , whether the outside environment is dark, bright, or gray; it does not damage your ability to see through this aspect at all. That is how it should be.
So even after arriving at the Land of Dharma Nature, everyone knows clearly which one is a demon crowd that came in, and which one is a being on a person that was invited in, resolved, and delivered; this can all be distinguished clearly. Those who followed me in after this were actually not my descendants, but many beings in the space where I entered samadhi. These beings are not descendants of Rakshasas, but spirit beings on the surface. I just mentioned that as long as there is a physical entity, there are beings inside, and in the space without a physical entity, there are even more beings. These beings were also sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. After arriving here, everyone is brand new, completely different from before. Hair that was too long was naturally trimmed, haha! It is very similar to the crew cut of human males; this is a very interesting appearance, looking quite fresh, ha! Because among the demon crowds, most do not care about this part; they keep it as long as they can, rolling it up one, two, three times, it does not matter. What is seen here is different. Indeed, in the world of the Buddha's teachings, there is a way to do this, making everyone's mood bright when they see it, and I am the same. I, Mo Di Luo, originally had long hair, rolled up several times, and now it has been cut off. The Buddha-light is really like magic; the body shape after coming in is different. But you cannot escape everyone's Alaya consciousness; it always follows you closely and cannot be separated from you. So the past is the past life, and now it is such a spirit. Even if your spiritual appearance has changed, the Buddha-light has the ability to make such changes, but it is still this spirit. I am called Mo Di Luo; even if my spiritual appearance has changed, I am still Mo Di Luo. But perhaps the Buddha can give me another name, and I will change my name, but my spirit is this spirit; it will not run away! This is also the universal principle and the Truth."
A Call to Surrender
"Here, I advise my many descendants; they probably do not know of the existence of an old demon like me because the age gap is too large. But the role of Mo Di Luo exists on every planet. Since they are in the status of demon crowds, they may all be the targets of Practitioner Su's Buddha-light illumination to be invited to the Western Land of Dharma Nature this time. So, if you are also casting spells to attack Practitioner Su, I advise you to stop quickly; this is an inappropriate behavior! We must still have the ability to judge right from wrong! Seeing the current situation of the old demons and your current situation, you know which choice to make between the two. Surrender is the best policy. Furthermore, do you want to be a descendant of Mo Di Luo for your whole life? Perhaps your souls will wither later, and you will accept energy underground, and when you revive, it will be underground again, and you will have been a Mo Di Luo for I do not know how many lives, and you will never be able to turn over.
The matter of karmic reincarnation is not only on Earth; it is still the same on other planets. Perhaps the appearance is different, or the age of existence is different, the time of life and death is different, the space is different, but the basic principle is the same, which is constantly repeating, or seeing which realm you receive retribution in. Regardless, for the demon crowds, it is always existing in the demon realm. The demon realm is a world, and this world is very large, just like the human world and the Buddha's world. The word 'realm' indicates that there is a region. Once you enter the demon path, you have to reincarnate in the demon realm, or Di Luo is included in it, and it is very difficult for you to convert to other realms. What kind of power can pull you up and move you from here to there? I have not encountered it yet! It is all by my own power that I move from here to there, from underground to the surface, or from the surface to underground to return to my original position. It is all by my own power; I have not encountered any other power that has the ability to move the spirit of an old demon like me around! But at this time, I encountered the power of Buddha-light, the power of the Buddha, Namo Amituofo, plus Practitioner Su's vow, which is truly very firm, like a city wall that cannot be broken or collapsed. Only by having such a vow, as well as the Buddha's like Buddha-light, is it possible to move Mo Di Luo from underground to the Western Land of Dharma Nature of light."
Gratitude and Practice
"Alright, I have also quickly gone through my process. I want to say to the juniors, changing our identity is actually a very difficult thing. At this time, only the Buddha's power has the ability to make changes. You should come in and surrender; living a bright life is also great. It was not lived in vain! It is like wanting to go from the human world to the heavenly world, or even helping you elevate from the ghost realm to the Buddha; this requires the help of noble people! At this time, Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su are our noble people; when you meet them, you must grasp them tightly.
As for how to save the human world on Earth? In fact, Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su are already doing it. Subduing or letting so many demons surrender is doing the work of saving the human world, and it is something that other powers cannot do. As for the demon realm, it goes without saying; the number of those saved is immeasurable. At this time, my mood, the only sentence I want to say is gratitude, for helping me get rid of the identity of a Di Luo Rakshasa and having the opportunity to connect with the Buddha's teachings. Now I am accepting an interview, and I hope to continue my practice here later. Regarding practice, we do not reject it; we even know it is a good thing for us. What we do here is what people do in the temple; we also prostrate to the Buddha, often seeing demons or beings prostrating to the Buddha on the lotus seat, and we also chant the Buddha's name, chanting 'Namo Amituofo.' The degree of diligence of each demon crowd is different. I am more of a moderate member; a moderate member means not that I do not chant the Buddha's name, nor that I chant it fiercely, but sometimes I chant and sometimes I do not. But at the Dharma assembly, I am very obedient and have been chanting the Buddha's name all the time, and there will be no situation of being drowsy and entering space and swaying.
Although the demon crowds' temperament is molded to be very demonic, when they encounter the good Dharma, the good thoughts in their hearts are triggered. They know this is good, a good thing for us, and they know to grasp the time quickly. Once it passes, you cannot get it back, so grasp the present well. Chanting this Buddha-name is what many demon crowds in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and even beings, are doing now. As for reciting the Sutras, I am a bit more interested. Reciting The Infinite Life Sutra, there are many places in this Sutra that give me deep . This Buddha is too great, especially the Forty-eight Great Vows. How could there be such a great mind-capacity to accommodate beings in such a large space and also establish a Western Land of Dharma Nature? Honestly, before I entered the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I had not heard the story of Namo Amituofo, nor had I heard of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It was all after I arrived at the Western Land of Dharma Nature, listened to Practitioner Su's Dharma talks, and participated in the Thrice Yearning Ceremonies that I saw it. Seeing is believing; of course, after seeing Namo Amituofo, there is no need to doubt, and I will not doubt, because he is already before my eyes. I tell everyone, it is true and real!
The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is the place where Namo Amituofo resides. If those with karmic affinity believe it, then hurry and enter this place; it will definitely make you feel it is worth it. In fact, this covers the gratitude and thanksgiving of many beings in the spiritual realm. Perhaps you are a being in the spiritual realm right now; if you hear what I, Mo Di Luo, say, you can believe it and enter this place. Looking at it from the perspective and identity of a human life, is there a difference from Mo Di Luo? In fact, it is indeed so; this is a very beautiful place. Importantly, the human beings inside are one out of a hundred, a thousand, or ten thousand selected to enter the temple. Everyone must listen well. Listening is not something you say at any time; if you want to listen, you can hear it. We also went through many twists and turns before we entered the temple and heard the Buddha-name 'Namo Amituofo,' which is very precious. I also hope that my descendants can recognize this Buddha-name and chant it, and have the opportunity to enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature or the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss; that would be a great blessing.
Alright, I will stop here today.
Namo Amituofo.
