The Ancient Demon of the Giant Mountain
An Interview with Mo Mingjin, a Demon of 360 Trillion Years
Recorded by Venerable HaiZe on April 29, 2025
This is a record of an interview with Mo Mingjin, an ancient demon who has existed for 360 trillion years. He sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the . This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 29, 2025.
Mo Mingjin speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. My name is Mo Mingjin. I am an ancient demon from the Realm, and I have existed for 360 trillion years. To be called an 'Old Demon,' one must truly be ancient! In the Dharma Realm, any life form that has existed for over a trillion years can be classified as an Old Demon.
In our existence, every demon has a story. Some are similar, but others are quite unique. Regardless, we do not usually pry into the past of every demon being. However, for us Old Demons, knowing the history of our younger descendants is not a difficult task. An Old Demon possesses the skills to observe the of their spirits.
The Weight of 360 Trillion Years
It is not only humans with physical bodies who possess an Alaya ; the demon beings here in the Demon Realm have one as well. As long as a spirit exists, it has an Alaya consciousness. Therefore, we do not need to ask them; we simply look, and we know. It is perfectly clear to us.
Some younger demons wonder how we Old Demons are so formidable, knowing everything without a word being spoken. In truth, it is simply this skill. In the Buddha’s teachings, it would be called 'reading minds.' I read about this in The Infinite Sutra, as it is one of the Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo.
I only began to learn how to chant after I was sent into the Western Dharma-Nature Land. Before that, the very idea of chanting was something the Demon Realm would never even touch. You see, Buddhist scriptures and sutra books all radiate light. You might not be able to see it, but we can. Because of this, some demons keep their distance. In fact, most demon beings will not touch them at all, because once the 'demon light' we carry encounters the Buddha-light, it is weakened. Who would want their own light to be diminished or stripped away? This light is something we have accumulated bit by bit, drop by drop. To be sufficiently wicked, sufficiently evil, and sufficiently demonic, your light naturally shines through. Of course, what shines through is demon light—a dark light. It is not like the Buddha-light, which is golden, energetic, and carries the energy of . If demon beings are touched by Buddha-light, they also feel and fullness; it can sustain them for quite a long time!
The Truth About Energy and the Heart
I once saw extraterrestrials arriving on a flying saucer during a . They were carrying the citizens and people of their home planet. They came to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, to attend the Dharma assembly, hoping that Namo Amituofo would grant them the energy they needed to continue surviving. From this, you can see that energy is absolutely vital. In truth, even humans require energy. When energy is insufficient, one becomes easily fatigued and weary; when energy is abundant, one is full of spirit and has the strength to accomplish things. This is surely a Universal Principle, a Truth, and the Right Path! Even Old Demons in deep meditative states require a very subtle amount of energy to maintain the state of their spiritual life. Without this replenishment, the spirit in deep meditation would gradually wither away.
We witnessed this scene while watching the Thrice Yearning Ceremony at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre from the Western Dharma-Nature Land. Naturally, we were quite shocked when we first saw it! It was not until the second and third times that we truly understood: a Buddha-land is a Buddha-land. To a Buddha, sentient beings are just sentient beings. He does not distinguish whether you are a being from Earth, or from some other planet, universe, Dharma Realm, or galaxy. He treats everyone equally, without special treatment. The Buddha is impartial; if you need energy, He gives you as much as you need. As long as you enter, He unconditionally bestows energy upon you.
Why does Namo Amituofo possess such immense energy? It is the power of the 'heart'! The Buddha’s teachings speak of the 'heart,' and anyone who studies orthodox Buddha-teachings should be able to understand this. 'All dharmas are mind-only'—this statement is truly profound, and it is something I have deeply realised from the teachings Namo Amituofo provides to sentient beings.
The Giant Mountain and the Ancestral Spirit
Therefore, why does one become a demon? It is due to the mutation of one's character. The resentment of a demon is about attacking, destroying, strengthening oneself, and harming others. But this demon nature is not unchangeable; it can be transformed into a force that benefits sentient beings. If the character can be saved and redeemed, and one understands what is right and what should or should not be done, then even a demon heart can be transformed into a Buddha-heart. Even if one suffers personally, one becomes willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of sentient beings. I have been deeply inspired by the teachings and personal conduct of Practitioner Su; this has been an extremely precious experience.
To be able to encounter a Buddha is a magnificent opportunity, a result of profound Dharma affinity. Only those with karmic affinity can meet a Buddha. Such an encounter is a major turning point in life, whether for a human or a demon. The Buddha possesses immeasurable and boundless merit and power, which He is willing to bestow upon all sentient beings with karmic affinity. This merit and power can drive a massive transformation in the human world, the Demon Realm, and even the entire earth and the beings of the six realms of existence.
Today, we reside at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, and we are undoubtedly sentient beings with karmic affinity to Namo Amituofo. Even if you come from an outer planet, if you can arrive at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, that too is a result of causal conditions. This place is truly a 'precious land,' a place of treasures that many beings cannot bear to leave. For the Demon Realm, one can find satisfaction here; but for the Buddha-Dharma Realm, this place is where sentient beings are saved.
A Plea to My Demon Descendants
Now, we must stop the various forms of 'magic' used to attack Practitioner Su and the fourfold assembly of disciples. We Old Demons should stand up and call for everyone to cease these actions. But demon nature is such that whenever we see an object we can control or from which we can absorb energy, we pounce on it. Just as it is difficult to change a person's personality, it is very difficult to change demon nature.
Demon nature is the personality of a demon. Unless there is a massive force of transformation, most demons will continue to be demons until their spirits wither away. If a demon's nature is not firm, they might transform midway; but those with strong demon natures will continue to climb, becoming even stronger. This is exactly the case with the Demon King Mo Mingjin—that is me. I find it amusing myself, because even I could not transform myself. Such powerful demon nature often covers up the inherent goodness within. But if this strength were applied to the side of Goodness, developing a virtuous nature, the achievement would not just be in the Demon Realm, but on the Buddha's path—that would be truly extraordinary!
Now that I have arrived at the Western Dharma-Nature Land, it is not too late. Namo Amituofo once said, 'For those who still have a body, there is still time.' Although I do not have a body, the point is that I was able to arrive at the Buddha-land, and I have a great teacher leading the way, along with His great vow-power to guide us into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Therefore, we can be completely at ease. How happy is a soul that grows in a state of relief, peace, and aspiration! To have such karmic fortune, to be a free, peaceful, and joy-filled spirit—this is a joy that was previously unimaginable.
The Path to True Liberation
In the past, some of us demons would even scoff, 'How could this be the personality of a demon?' Some demon kings might look down on this transformation, but that does not matter. If you look down on it, that is your business; that I can benefit from it is mine! I can become a Buddha, while you remain a demon—who is the one suffering the greater loss? I see it as me gaining the true, great benefit. The word 'benefit' is often on the lips of those in the Demon Realm: 'Do not do anything that does not benefit yourself!' This is the motto the demon king gave me, and I have kept it in my heart. Why? Because one should not waste one's energy in vain. This energy is extremely precious! If you use this energy for Buddha-teachings, it is completely different. The value of Buddha-teachings lies in the ability to prevent from manifesting, reducing , and ensuring one does not suffer evil consequences from negative causes.
Over the 360 trillion years, I climbed the ranks, and the price I paid was making my demon nature firmer and stronger, accumulating power. This power was not gained for nothing; it was earned through my own diligent practice. The Demon Realm is the same; without strength, you are eliminated. This is the same principle as diligent practice in the Buddha-teachings.
Therefore, this is the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Path. If demons and Buddhas have consistency in their spirit, then this is a shared principle; if the spirit is different, then one must take the Buddha-teachings as the standard. Because the Buddha-teachings completely follow the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Path. Therefore, if you want to learn Buddha-teachings, you must learn orthodox Buddha-teachings; you must learn from a Buddha with right conduct and a right heart. If you deviate, it may look like Buddha-teachings on the surface, but it is actually evil magic. You must distinguish this clearly; if you fall into magic, you will suffer a great loss. Once you enter the Demon Realm or the path of magic, it is very difficult to escape.
Some might say, 'Old Demon, why would you say that about yourself? Is the Demon Realm really that hard to escape?' It truly is! I see that the Demon Realm on Earth is like this, and the Demon Realm in the Dharma Realm is the same.
Now that I am here, there is no need to speak lies or hypocritical words; I must speak the truth. Otherwise, why would you come out to speak if you are just going to lie during an interview? In terms of Buddha-teachings, telling lies is creating negative . We are not here to do the opposite; that would be wrong! Therefore, the words spoken by the Old Demon being interviewed are all true. At least, that is what I have seen and heard so far. If older demons, or even more ancient ones, are interviewed in the future, what they say will be even more spectacular. Why? Because their lives are so long and they have experienced so much that their words are highly reliable. The older the demon, the more clearly they understand karmic retribution, and the less they dare to cause trouble. Younger demons are full of youthful vigour—the so-called 'half-full bottle makes the most noise.' They are the ones who cause trouble, climbing higher, seeking glory and merit. That is not what an Old Demon does; Old Demons are steady and calculating, haha.
Now, the Old Demon in the Dharma-Nature Land, under the illumination of the Buddha's light, can be trusted; even if it is an Old Demon from the Demon Realm speaking, you must believe them. Because there are many descendants listening to you; if you teach them wrongly, everyone will learn and act wrongly, and in the end, the karmic retribution will still fall upon the Old Demon to bear. I am one of those Old Demons, and that is how I remind myself.
Honestly, I do not speak much in the Demon Realm. But when I do speak, I speak the truth—at least, that is what I believe, which is why I say it. Because speaking easily creates verbal karma, and it is the same in the Demon Realm: 'Too much talk leads to mistakes.' If you do not need to speak, do not speak. But if you do not speak, and your thoughts are still evil, is that not the same? When you are not speaking, if you use that time to chant the Buddha-name, that is extremely precious.
In the past, before demon beings knew the Buddha-name or Namo Amituofo, they treated these things as ordinary events, which is why incidents like 'casting spells to attack ' occurred. Many demon beings have not received Buddhist education, do not understand what Namo Amituofo is, and understand even less what a Buddha is, so they commit inappropriate acts that harm Practitioner Su. Here, I also offer my apologies to Practitioner Su for the actions of some of my demon children and grandchildren; this is a failure of instruction. But we do not teach Buddhist education; we do not even understand it ourselves, so how could we teach it? We teach 'magic education,' which is what we excel at—magic that can be passed down from generation to generation and will not disappear.
How did I spend 360 trillion years? The first part of that time was too long; I find it hard to distinguish clearly. However, it was likely after 280 trillion years that I entered a state of retirement and seclusion, staying out of sight. As for the place of my retirement, let me tell you: there is a Giant Mountain on our planet. It is a massive, high mountain, and it is a mountain with a spirit. Since we are the Demon Realm, we are spirits, and naturally, this Giant Mountain is also a spirit. But this 'spirit' refers to demon nature. Otherwise, how could it be on our planet? We are a demon planet.
This Giant Mountain has seen much frost and wind, the ups and downs of demon beings—whether they succeeded or failed, were scattered or reunited, separated or formed into groups, and so on. The spirit of this Giant Mountain knows it all very well. So, it also learned what 'respect' means. Whenever someone has a request, it tries its best to satisfy them; you could say it does good deeds. Although the beings it serves are demons, it seems that non-demons have also benefited. This is a very good thing. It is a living mountain, a mountain with a spirit. Many demons live in seclusion inside it, so it acts like a guardian deity, protecting these demons from being disturbed by outsiders.
I heard that if any outsiders try to disturb the secluded life of the Old Demons, the Giant Mountain emits a deafening roar. It is very spiritual; it does not disturb the Old Demons, but instead, it shakes the intruders until their ears are almost deaf, scaring them away so they dare not approach again. Does this sound like something out of a mythological novel? This truly happened on our planet. So, I felt at ease entering the Giant Mountain to live in seclusion. For these 180 trillion years, to be honest, the Giant Mountain has shouldered a very important responsibility: as long as there are Old Demons living in seclusion inside, it is responsible for protecting them. Later, I learned that the soul of this Giant Mountain is actually our ancestral spirit! It is the ancestral spirit of the demon beings of our planet residing within. Therefore, anyone with the title of 'Ancestor' has the role of protecting their descendants. No matter which world you are in—the world of Buddha-teachings, the world of China, the world of Earth, or the world of the Demon Realm—the 'Ancestor' generation, the ancestors and ancestral spirits, will always protect their descendants. Thus, my 180 trillion years were spent in this way.
During my deep meditation, I once experienced a massive vibration—it was a great shaking of the Dharma Realm. The Giant Mountain also rocked and swayed, almost unable to hold on. But many of the Old Demons inside remained settled and unmoving, which stabilised the mountain, preventing it from collapsing or being destroyed by the powerful vibrations of the celestial bodies. The Giant Mountain did not fall; it stood tall, protecting us to this day.
That I would enter the Dharma-Nature Land this time is truly inconceivable! The entire Buddha-light covered the whole Giant Mountain; the Buddha-light enveloped us, immense and almost as tall as the mountain itself. With one sweep, it brought us to the Western Dharma-Nature Land. This event must be called inconceivable! It was as if a massive energy had pulled the entire mountain from the ground and brought it directly to the Western Dharma-Nature Land. Once we arrived, the mountain automatically dissolved; the original shape of the mountain melted away, and the souls of the Old Demons inside were revealed one by one. The ancestral spirit of the Giant Mountain protected us all the way to the Western Dharma-Nature Land, so I believe the ancestral spirit has also arrived here, though I seem unable to perceive his location—perhaps he is in a higher, more subtle space. When I saw this scene, I entered the Western Dharma-Nature Land without a single scratch, which I myself find quite inconceivable, while simultaneously being illuminated by the Buddha-light.
In the cold of winter, if the heart is cold, the spiritual appearance manifested is also cold; if the heart is warm, compassionate, and kind, the aura emitted will naturally be compassionate and kind.
Among demon beings, many have no parents. Because in the Demon Realm system, once a demon joins a group, as long as they grow a little, have some ability, and can stand on their own two feet, they begin training: running errands, moving things, and learning obedience. If a demon being is too passive or disobedient, they are quickly eliminated. In other worlds, other places, or the Demon Realm, this is the most ordinary thing.
I, Mo Mingjin, mentioned earlier that I have been present in the Demon Realm for 180 trillion years. After entering the 190th trillion year, I had the thought of living in seclusion, not wanting to be in the spotlight for too long. During those 180 trillion years of deep meditation, there was almost no 'demon conduct' to speak of; throughout the process, my heart was like still water, without a single thought arising, and my heart was filled with peace. For a demon, this is a great blessing, because many demons are unable to be still. How do I know it was 180 trillion years? Because when I wanted to know, the number '180 trillion years' actually appeared before my eyes, so I knew. Otherwise, I would have had no chance to reflect, let alone the opportunity to emerge from meditation. How is it that the scene from 180 trillion years ago feels like it happened just yesterday? I know that is the state of deep meditation, because in that state, there is no fluctuation of thought; space and time seem to merge. I do not know if you can understand this explanation.
Why was I not absorbed by karmic retribution for 180 trillion years? Because I possess the power of reading minds. The other party does not need to release energy or information for me to know their past-life experiences; it requires no language or action. In such a situation, if I discovered that the other party had been a doer of Good in the past, or was doing Good in this lifetime, I would not destroy or attack them. They might not even know they had done Good in their previous life, but I knew. If an attack had not yet been launched, and I received such information, I would ask my descendants to abandon that opportunity for attack, because there would be many more opportunities in the future. I did not let my descendants know why I was retreating, nor did I state my reasons for abandoning the attack. Let this thought of Goodness be one of the reasons why I was not absorbed by karmic retribution for 180 trillion years. I do not know if this sounds reasonable, but this is my understanding. You could call it a bit of personal selfishness, but a 'selfishness of Goodness.'
My heart always believed that a demon who does Good must have karmic fortune. If one has done Good in the past, even if one becomes a demon in this lifetime, the good roots will not be completely severed. I also did not have any wicked demon conduct, because those acts of Goodness, unknown to other demons, always existed in my heart. So, it could be said that I was 'silently doing Good.' But I did not want demons with good roots to appear in our group, because that would weaken our 'demon nature.' Is this mindset contradictory? Yes, very contradictory. But that is how it was.
Arriving at the Western Dharma-Nature Land, I never expected to come to this place. Because I had never emerged from meditation, nor had I the opportunity to understand the situation outside. In this sense, my own karmic fortune is truly too great; I did not suffer setbacks, nor was I disturbed—it was so fast, so inconceivable that I entered the Western Dharma-Nature Land, and it is precisely because of this.
I also did not create negative karma, because I had no opportunity to cast spells to attack Practitioner Su. This situation is truly a great karmic fortune, so I sincerely thank my past lives. There must have been some special karmic affinity that allowed me to be safely sent from deep meditation to the Dharma-Nature Land. I do not know how many Old Demons can have such karmic fortune; at least, they would wake up before entering the Dharma-Nature Land, have the chance to understand some situations, and then be led in without preparation. But I was still in deep meditation even before entering the Dharma-Nature Land, and only woke up after entering, awakened by the Buddha-light! This is truly too special. Causal conditions are of a hundred different kinds, and I am just one of them—a particularly special one.
Therefore, I had no opportunity to say goodbye to my descendants in the Demon Realm, to speak to them, or even to remind them of anything. Now, I am here to say to everyone: I have seen with my own eyes the situation where Practitioner Su was attacked by spells from demon beings, because I have the power of reading minds, and I saw that among them were some of my descendants, my demon children and grandchildren, and even demon kings!
Here, I want to solemnly appeal to my descendants, Mo Mingjin's descendants: I hope you will quickly stop casting spells to attack Practitioner Su! This is an act of disrespect and unfilial behaviour! At the very least, I can still be considered your ancestral spirit. They treated me so kindly that I have the opportunity to say these words here to remind you. Otherwise, if you continue to create negative karma, the sins you commit will be extremely great! You must know that only the Buddha has the power to subdue Old Demons. This is a history that has never existed before, and now we are creating it together! To be able to enter the Dharma-Nature Land is to create history! I also hope you will create your own future and life; do not be obsessed with doing evil anymore! Put down your actions of casting spells to attack Practitioner Su, go to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, and sincerely seek refuge with Namo Amituofo. It will absolutely only benefit you; there is no loss at all!
'How to save the Earth and the demon beings?' This topic is indeed novel to me. To be honest, I did not even know about Earth before; it is truly so! The Dharma Realm is so vast; there is simply too much we do not understand. Admitting ignorance is not shameful. Today, Namo Amituofo has chosen the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre on Earth as His place of right abode, and Practitioner Su, under the Buddha's guidance, is subduing immeasurable and boundless demon beings. There must be a profound reason for this; the Dharma affinity has matured, and only then do these demon beings have the opportunity to obtain deliverance. I believe this is deliverance, absolutely!
Why do we enter deep meditation? It is because when one knows it is time to retreat, one must retreat. But this retreat is not withering away; it is returning to the place where the Buddha-light shines, washing away past sins in the light. At the very least, I have been able to purify my spirit at this moment, changing from pitch black to being much purer. This is called 'purification.'
I also hope my demon children and grandchildren have this opportunity to enter here and obtain purification. I believe you certainly can; the key is not whether the Buddha is willing to lead you, but whether you are willing to come. Because the Buddha's great compassion has no discrimination.
'How to save the Earth?' If one can deliver and lead demon beings into the Dharma-Nature Land, that is saving the Earth! Because modern humans have no ability to resist the interference and possession of demon beings. Although human nature has a kind side, demon nature is extremely powerful and easily dominates and manipulates. Therefore, humans being influenced and controlled also has its causes and reasons. Everything must proceed within causal conditions. Only those who have karmic affinity with demons will naturally be attracted and become objects for demon possession; those without karmic affinity will naturally not be approached by demons, because their magnetic fields are different, and approaching them would not benefit the demons themselves. Demon beings will not do things that do not benefit themselves.
Therefore, Practitioner Su saving demon beings at this time is saving the Earth and saving the human world. And the ones who benefit most directly are actually the demon beings themselves! You have the opportunity to turn over a new leaf, to wash away your past, and to become a bright spirit, no longer a dark existence.
Alright, I will share up to here today. I offer my most sincere , hoping that everyone can soon be liberated from the life controlled by demon beings, obtain positive energy, and cast off the shackles of darkness. Please remember to chant one sentence well: Namo Amituofo.
This can also be considered my sincere advice.
Namo Amituofo.
