On the twentieth of January, 2018, Namo Amituofo offered these teachings to the assembly. As the year draws to a close, we perform these sacred rites to protect our nation, dispel disasters, and bring light to the dark realms. The first bell of the ceremony rings, and the hearts of the assembly are filled with profound and serenity.

The Sacred Duty of Protection

We must understand the purpose of our actions. We use the beauty of the to flourish, continuing the work of the Buddhas as if it were our own life’s mission. We act according to the needs of the time, and we live according to the mandate of the Dharma. We do this for the future, and we do this to clarify our own hearts and minds. I, as the Tathagata, lead the assembly in this practice. When the heavens entrust us with a task, it is to illuminate the darkness. Like a brilliant light, we guide all beings back to the right path.

Guiding Beings to the Light

We have the capacity to save beings and return them to the source. We have the capacity to create the conditions for their liberation. In this cycle of practice, we help our and ancestors find peace. We look toward the future, carrying the torch of the Dharma. It is my hope that all beings may awaken to their own true nature and that the wisdom of the Tathagata may manifest in the actions of every practitioner.

The Great Ship of the Dharma

Today, we board the great ship of the Dharma, powered by the strength of reality. We pour forth the energy of light to carry all beings safely across the sea of suffering. We shall return again for the Qingming festival to honour our ancestors. Our mission is to guide all beings back to the light, helping them to see clearly once more.

Honouring Ancestors and Continuing the Lineage

The Qingming festival is a time to honour our ancestors and pass the torch of wisdom from generation to generation. You may ask: Where can we find our ancestors? How do we recognise the path they have taken? What is the ultimate purpose of our existence? The answer lies in the great vow of rebirth in the , with Namo Amituofo as our guide. The confusion that has troubled you should now come to an end. I invite all of you to join together in this shared life and shared mission. Whether you are in Taiwan or Hong Kong, the work is the same. You must act for the future and for the benefit of all.

The Path of the Pure Land Practitioner

The ceremony is now complete, but the work remains in your hearts. Keep your minds calm and peaceful, and you will manifest the great power of purity. As practitioners of the Pure Land, you possess a strength that is vast and profound. You are the children of the Dharma, and you must act with wisdom and integrity. Continue to know the Tathagata, continue to walk the path of the Tathagata, and continue to live the life of the Tathagata. By doing so, you will illuminate your true nature.

My children, you are doing well, and Namo Amituofo is here to assist you. I call upon all of you to work together to propagate this teaching. In your activities in Hong Kong, remain calm and steady. There is nothing that cannot be accomplished if you approach your tasks with a peaceful and upright heart.

Recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Shi Faxi.
