The Deliverance of Lay Practitioner Huang Jinbao

This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Lay Practitioner Huang Jinbao, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the spirit realm to the Western Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on December 6, 2024.

Lay Practitioner Huang Jinbao speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I, your disciple Huang Jinbao, have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am so moved, so deeply grateful! Namo Amituofo is here, as are Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, and so many other Buddhas and Bodhisattvas whom I do not recognise. They are all here, and I have seen them with my own eyes. I have truly arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The Beauty of the Pure Land

I do not know how I can ever repay the kindness of Practitioner Su for bringing me to this Western Land. Everything here is so beautiful, so fragrant, and there are lotus flowers everywhere! I have never seen such magnificent lotus flowers in my life. They are enormous, radiating brilliant light, and they come in so many different colours. They even appear translucent—it is all so beautiful, so breathtaking! I am so overjoyed that I am practically speechless.

I want to thank my granddaughter for still remembering me, this old woman. I have been gone for such a long time; in truth, I had already forgotten so much about the human world. I do not know why it happened that way, but it seemed that after my physical body passed away, my spirit suddenly became distant from the world of the living. It was not like when I was alive, when I felt so close to everything and my mind was so clear.

The Call of Deliverance

When I was still in the world, there were so many things I kept locked away in my heart. But while I was living alone in the spirit realm, it felt as though there was nothing left to remember, and nothing that I felt the need to hold onto anymore.

When Practitioner Su called my name, I heard it, but I felt as though I had been stunned into a daze. It had been such a long time since anyone had called me by the name I held in that lifetime, so I did not react immediately. Practitioner Su’s speed was incredible. Even though I had not yet fully processed what was happening, she had already taken my spirit away. I left the spirit realm in an instant and arrived at the side of Practitioner Su.

Awakening to the Dharma

At the very beginning, I truly did not know what was happening; everything was a blur. Later, I began to listen to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks, and I started to chant Buddha’s name and participate in the Dharma assembly. Gradually, I became more and more clear-headed, and only then did I begin to understand the situation. I realised that I had been saved by Practitioner Su. It is so hard to believe that such a miracle could happen to me.

I later learned that it was my own descendants who saved me, and I am filled with gratitude. My descendants are truly blessed to have encountered the Buddha. You must cherish this opportunity well. You must always follow Namo Amituofo so that you, too, can come to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This place is truly wonderful. I feel so comfortable now, so happy, and I have been smiling the entire time. My body even feels as though it is glowing with light.

I will continue to chant Buddha’s name diligently here and listen to the Dharma talks given by Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. All of you must also chant Buddha’s name; do not forget the Buddha.
