The Deliverance of Lay Practitioner Huang Qiuhe
An Interview with Lay Practitioner Huang Qiuhe
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Huang Qiuhe, the father of Lay Practitioner Huang Yanru. He sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his journey from suffering to liberation. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on October 20, 2024.
Lay Practitioner Huang Qiuhe speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Today, I have arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I have personally beheld Namo Amituofo. I am experiencing a profound sense of inner peace—a tranquility that I had never, ever felt before in my entire life.
The Illusion of a Busy Life
For as long as I can remember, I was simply too busy! I was constantly preoccupied with managing my life, caught up in the endless demands of my work and my family. I had long since forgotten how to listen to my own heart. It was not until my spirit finally departed from my physical body that I realised just how empty my heart had truly become.
Like everyone else, I spent my life in pursuit of things I thought I was 'supposed' to have. I never stopped to consider that after obtaining all these things, I would eventually have to lose them all. The money I worked so hard to accumulate ended up being spent on trying to repair my already broken body. I struggled for so long, yet before I could even enjoy the fruits of my labour, I had to face the agony of physical decline. To be perfectly honest, there was a deep sense of injustice in my heart.
The Weight of Unseen
I often found myself asking: 'Why me? Why did this have to happen to me?' But now, I understand clearly. Everything I experienced was brought about by my own thoughts. I was frequently prone to anger. Sometimes I expressed it openly, and other times I kept it bottled up inside. There were so many things I simply could not let go of, and so many situations that I found unacceptable. These emotions churned within me, and what they stirred up was my own karma—the who were waiting to collect their debts.
I held onto my grievances against others, and in doing so, I allowed those beings to hold onto me. I never imagined that the consequences of these would be so severe. My body had to pay the price, and my spirit had to suffer the retribution for the good and evil deeds I had committed.
From Hell to the Western Pure Land
After I passed away, I entered the hells to repay my debts. My karmic creditors came to me one by one to seek revenge. It was a harrowing experience, but thankfully, that is all in the past now.
If it were not for my son, who reached out to save me and arranged for my Chao Du, I do not know how much longer I would have had to endure such suffering. I feel a deep sense of regret for leaving you all so early, and for the worry and distress I caused you while I was ill. But now, I have reached the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Following Namo Amituofo, my spirit has become bright and radiant, so you can all set your hearts at ease.
A Message of Hope
During this time, I have deeply felt the of the Buddha. I now know that the Buddha can truly help us and provide us with lasting peace. I am doing very well now. Although you are all still working hard to make a living in the human world, I hope that in the future, we can be reunited in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I truly wish for all of you to be free from pain and suffering.
I am filled with gratitude to the Buddha, to Practitioner Su, and to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre for allowing me to escape the cycle of rebirth. I am finally free, and there is no more pain. Namo Amituofo."
