Recorded by Chief Writer Fa Tong on December 1, 2025
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Yao Meiling, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the ghost realm to the Western Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Tong, on December 1, 2025.
Lay Practitioner Yao Meiling speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Yao Meiling. I must express my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su for his in saving me. Before this, I was still living in the ghost realm, practising alongside Ksitigarbha . Because Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva knew that I was a teacher in my past life, he granted me a space—a gathering place—where I could help sentient beings with karmic affinity. There, I accumulated merit and virtue, which I could then dedicate to my ."
The Long, Foggy Path of the Ghost Realm
"Even in the ghost realm, my soul retained a deep passion for teaching. Life in that realm is incredibly long and profoundly bitter. The sky there is always shrouded in mist, illuminated only by a dim, gloomy light. Because of this, I wanted to use a joyful approach to lead other lonely spirits, encouraging them to relax, to stop shedding tears, and to cease living their lives with a heart full of complaints and resentment.
Since we have been reincarnated into the ghost realm, we must still practise diligently. One must summon every ounce of strength and spirit to improve oneself. It is essential to adjust one's personality and shed those deep-seated habits that keep us trapped."
Turning the Tide of
"It was because Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva gave me this opportunity to lead other beings toward goodness that I was finally able to turn the tide of my karma. I cherished this role deeply. When facing the various beings who came to me, I would counsel them to let go of all worldly attachments. I told them, 'You must chant Namo Amituofo sincerely to purify your dust-covered hearts. Do not cling to the grievances, hatreds, and emotional entanglements of the past. Holding onto those memories will not make your life easier; it will only increase your delusions.'
Only by honestly chanting Namo Amituofo can one create positive Causal Conditions and become in sync with the Buddha. This is the only way to resolve conflicts with one's karmic creditors. Being in the ghost realm and listening to Practitioner Su give talks allowed me to adjust my shortcomings and lighten my heavy sins. If old habits began to arise, I would simply chant continuously, bringing the Buddha's name deep into my heart. The Buddha-light would then illuminate my entire being."
A Debt of Gratitude to a Student
"Today, our chanting gathering place is filled with many lonely spirits who have finally found a place for their hearts to rest. Everyone is practising with great diligence. Namo Amituofo is incredibly compassionate toward the spirits in our gathering place, constantly emitting light, and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva continues to bring many ghost beings with deep good roots to this place.
That I was able to be saved by Practitioner Su this time is something I owe to my capable student, Fang Xiaonan. If it were not for his kindness and his desire to repay my past guidance by registering me for Chao Du, I would still be drifting in the sea of karma, following the laws of karma and cause and effect into further rebirths. Today, I, Meiling, must express my heartfelt thanks to my student, Xiaonan. It is the child's compassion that helped me form this precious connection with Practitioner Su!"
Rebirth in the Western Pure Land
"Practitioner Su allowed Namo Amituofo to use the Twelve Lights to assist me in my rebirth in the Western Pure Land. Now, my body feels incredibly light; the heavy, suffocating sensation is gone. Even my karmic creditors have been touched by the Buddha-light and have resolved their conflicts with me. This manifestation of such immense compassion makes me kneel and bow in gratitude for the Buddha's grace. The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is the place I have always longed for. Being able to practise here now makes me understand the meaning of gratitude even more deeply! Namo Amituofo."
