The Demon King Who Tried to Blind Practitioner Su

This interview was recorded on June 21, 2022, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. The subject is Mo Wenhai, a former Demon King from the Milky Way who sought to sabotage the mission of Practitioner Su. After being brought to the Western Dharma-Nature Land, he underwent a profound transformation and was given the Dharma name 'Shi Zhengxin' by the Buddha.

Mo Wenhai (Shi Zhengxin) speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. It is truly a supreme honour for me, Mo Wenhai, to be interviewed by the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. In both my past life and my present existence, I have never experienced such an encounter. I know that people on Earth are accustomed to using Earthly languages, so during these past few days in the Western Dharma-Nature Land at the temple, I have learned the language used here. This is something I am quite skilled at. I believe I have learned it rather well, have I not?

My home is in the Milky Way. In my previous life, I was a being from a planet, possessing a body much like a human's. After that body died, my spirit entered the Demon Realm, where I have remained for four hundred years. I have experienced many things that I never would have encountered in the stable home planet of my past life. There are many spaces within the Milky Way; some are inhabited by beings with physical bodies, including planetary beings or various monsters and creatures, while other spaces are realms where spirits and souls are active.

A Tragic Origin: The Burning Planet

The home planet where I lived in my past life was a stable, solid little world among the stars. Suddenly, several massive meteorites descended upon our planet, scattering across various regions and causing widespread panic. Those meteorites first streaked across the sky before descending, colliding with our world and generating immense friction that ignited raging fires. We were completely unprepared for such a sudden crisis, and there was no way to contain the flames. Consequently, the fires ignited by the meteorites across the land connected with one another, consuming the entire planet. Many died, while others fled. The planet, which had once been a place of happy, peaceful living, was reduced to a landscape of ash after that great conflagration.

I was old enough to understand what was happening at the time. I only remember being taken to a place underground to hide. Afterward, there was a profound silence all around, as if no one had survived. I saw a ray of light and crawled out, only to see the entire world turned to ash. I was terrified and wept bitterly. How could this happen? Even more frightening was the realisation that I was the only survivor. I did not know what to do. I do not know how much time passed; I did not eat or drink, thinking that this would end my life just as it had ended the lives of everyone else.

From Survival to the Demon Realm

When I collapsed on the ground, weak and exhausted, my one-hundred-year life as a planetary being came to an end. After my soul departed, I saw a spacecraft appear in the sky and take me away. From that moment on, I left my home and arrived at another planet, beginning a new life. My soul moved from the space of my former home planet into another spiritual realm. There, no companions knew of my past, for it was a wound deep within my heart. Yet, here I am today, able to speak of it naturally. Could it be that the pain in my heart has been soothed here?

After arriving at the new planet, I decided to live well. I wanted to live on behalf of the lives of my companions who had suffered on my home planet. However, what followed was a series of extremely rigorous trainings in the Demon Realm. I became a part of the demon world; I had no choice but to accept the arrangements of fate. To this day, I have endured countless trials in the Demon Realm. Several times, my very soul was nearly destroyed. Perhaps my time had not yet come, which is why I have been able to survive until now.

I have never forgotten my vow to live well for the sake of everyone. I channeled this strength into my magic, allowing me to climb step by step, from a 'demon child' to the position of a Demon King. In the interstellar realms, every planet has its own language, equivalent to a mother tongue on Earth, and a form of inter-planetary language has also developed. In fact, we do not need to speak aloud; we communicate through the mind. Mental communication is a natural exchange of information; even if the pronunciation differs, the content of the message can be understood. However, if such information needs to be recorded, one must use written characters, and where there is writing, there must be sound to express it. Thus, the level of civilisation varies from planet to planet.

The Nature of the Demon Realm

Generally speaking, higher-level planets can tolerate and manage more primitive ones. Most primitive planets lack the ability to resist the intrusion or attack of higher-level ones. Primitive planets have not developed writing or records of information, so they lack cultural inheritance. Higher-level planets have written records and thus have cultural development; they are planets with high inclusivity. However, if such a high-level planet develops into a 'demon world,' it will adopt methods of intrusion or attack to absorb the energy of other planets. If a high-level planet belongs to a 'world of Goodness,' when it needs energy, it will use tolerance to make the other planet submit, offering energy voluntarily to form a state of mutual survival, rather than a win-or-lose situation where one must die for the other to live.

At that time, I was a Demon King belonging to the demon world of a high-level planet. I was adept at reading the language, culture, and information of others, attacking their weaknesses to achieve victory and absorb their energy. This was where my magic was exercised. I had to have the ability to enter the memory banks of others to discover latent weaknesses and launch attacks, catching them off guard to secure victory.

The Unforeseen Resistance

Some time ago, Practitioner Su often appeared in the Milky Way. At first, this did not attract our special attention. However, recently, the primitive planet we intended to invade not only possessed sufficient energy but also saw its culture and defensive capabilities elevated. They actually succeeded in defending against our intrusion.

This was beyond our expectations. We had been full of confidence that we could take this planet, yet we became the losers. This left us feeling extremely astonished. We investigated the reason for our failure, and several words appeared: 'Improvement in energy quality.' This information actually came from the leadership of the primitive planet, indicating that the quality of their leadership was also improving. We delved deeper: why could the leadership of this planet improve so rapidly in such a short time—about half a year?

When we had the thought to discuss this, several more words appeared: 'Because the Buddha-light and the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo brought by Practitioner Su every day have purified and elevated the quality of our planet, we are able to effectively resist your attacks and magic without being harmed.' This information came from the very primitive planet we intended to attack, showing that their planetary quality had greatly improved in a short period. This was a serious threat to our survival! We were shocked to realise that the Buddha-light and the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo possessed such immense power, enabling them to make these changes and even send messages to us. We simultaneously received similar notifications from other demon planets, warning everyone. We never imagined that this matter would affect such a vast scope.

The Power of the Buddha-Name

According to our judgment, because the beings living on the primitive planet possessed relatively simple characters, when they absorbed the extremely powerful and extremely Good energy of the Buddha-light and the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo, it not only elevated the quality of their spirituality but also enabled them to successfully resist external enemies. It possessed such immense energy.

When we reached this conclusion, we realised this was no small matter; it severely affected the survival of the Demon Realm. We decided to come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre on Earth to understand the situation of Practitioner Su and hoped to stop Practitioner Su from entering the Milky Way to perform Chao Du. Therefore, as a Demon King, I led my demon children and grandchildren through the layers of space in the Milky Way and arrived here.

Before entering the temple, I saw the golden light emitted from Practitioner Su's body sweeping into the sky. My intuition told me that this was the golden light emitted by the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Following the golden light to find the temple was equivalent to finding Practitioner Su, and thus I beheld the light of Practitioner Su.

The Truth Revealed

We saw that the Thrice Yearning Ceremony was being conducted here. In this clean land and sky covered by golden light, it was filled with sentient beings. These beings were all different, yet all were looking forward to being guided into the golden light. The one emitting the intense golden light was a massive luminous body before our eyes, something we had never seen before. At the same time, we saw Practitioner Su moving busily, helping beings enter the golden light. At this moment, we suddenly understood: the meaning represented by the golden light is to lead and help everyone escape their current situation. We also heard messages from Demon Kings and demon crowds from other planets notifying us: the massive luminous body emitting golden light is Namo Amituofo. If beings chant Namo Amituofo and enter the golden light, they can be saved, leave this space, and enter another space—the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. At the same time, because the golden light possesses immense energy, it can also help planets recover and grow.

On this trip, we obtained verification. The golden light and the Buddha-name were indeed as we had anticipated: they could enable the beings of primitive and simple planets to elevate the quality of their spirituality. At this moment, I was even more urgent to find Practitioner Su and carry out our plan to stop him.

Practitioner Su was chanting the Buddha-name. To humans, the eyes are very important, especially the eyes of Practitioner Su, which can see clearly the situation ahead and around. Therefore, if one could obstruct the eyes of Practitioner Su, one could obstruct his progress. Thus, like many other demon crowds, we adopted the method of creating white fog to stop Practitioner Su from advancing. Unexpectedly, we were discovered by Practitioner Su just as we began, and we were sent here—to the Western Dharma-Nature Land. In such a short time, Practitioner Su was able to move us from the space of the temple to the space of the Dharma-Nature Land, which is where I am now. Today, I will begin another new life in this place.

Reflections of the Demon King

Upon entering the temple and seeing Namo Amituofo, I felt the energy of the golden light and the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo. After several experiences, I finally understood why the spirituality of low-level and primitive planets could be elevated to the point of resisting us. It is because the golden light of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, along with the energy of the Buddha-name of Namo Amituofo, is an extremely powerful positive energy. It can save immeasurable and boundless sentient beings; likewise, it can also save planets from crisis and elevate the quality of souls. This is a natural ability, not something our Demon Realm can diminish or resist. This natural ability comes from the Buddha. This is the supreme, sacred power that our Demon Realm has always been cautious not to offend or destroy. Now, this supreme, sacred power has been brought to the Milky Way by Practitioner Su, and those who directly receive the grace are these souls who appear weak in power or helpless and suffering. This is the true answer I have found. I accept all of this very peacefully, because I, too, have been transformed by the spirit and power of the Buddha in saving beings!

At the same time, I unexpectedly saw the legendary 'countless manifestations.' This is the highest reverence for those who practice purification in the Milky Way. Such practitioners, in order to save the suffering of beings, have undergone extremely rigorous tests to attain the ability of countless manifestations. This ability is not something loaded onto the body from the outside; it is an instinct manifested by the practitioner's own life body after much tempering and spiritual elevation.

This legend comes from the practitioners of purification on my home planet, passed down to educate future generations. It is because Shakyamuni Buddha once went to the Milky Way three thousand years ago with countless manifestations to save sentient beings and taught the Dharma to the practitioners of the Milky Way, which is why the story of countless manifestations has been passed down. I never expected that this matter would be verified today in the person of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre on Earth. This is truly an unexpected harvest.

The Buddha's teachings are indeed profound, allowing the body and spirit to attain such great expression. And the spirit of saving sentient beings has existed from the time of Shakyamuni Buddha until now; therefore, saving beings is not limited by time or space. For the sake of saving the beings of the Milky Way, Practitioner Su's body has been constantly attacked, warned, obstructed, and harmed by the Demon Kings and their demon children and grandchildren of the Milky Way, especially his eyes. Under such circumstances, he remains unhindered, using the ability of countless manifestations to perform Chao Du for the Milky Way, and the scope of his Chao Du is even wider, saving even more beings. It is truly admirable! At this moment, I cannot help but feel ashamed of my own selfish behaviour as a former Demon King, specialising in planetary attacks and harming sentient beings.

At the same time, I feel gratitude. If Practitioner Su had not gone to the Milky Way to perform Chao Du for sentient beings, we would not have had the opportunity to come here, be transformed, and obtain a new life and energy. I will continue to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma here, accept the education of the Buddha's teachings, chant the Buddha's name to purify myself, and repent. My sinful soul has opened a new life here. I am grateful for all these encounters; I am grateful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su!"
