This is a record of an interview with Zhu Heng, a primordial demon who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Nature. This account reflects upon his existence spanning 230 trillion years. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 23, 2025.
Zhu Heng speaks:
". I am Zhu Heng, a demon from the Dharma Realm. I have existed for 230 trillion years. I do not feel tired at all, because it was Practitioner Su who took on the suffering on behalf of us demons. It was only after we attacked her that I was granted this rare opportunity to enter this place. Therefore, I cherish this causal condition deeply.
For us in the demon crowds, attacking others is a completely ordinary, everyday affair. However, this time was remarkably different. We had never encountered a human being like Practitioner Su, who, after being attacked by us, would turn around and save us instead. Furthermore, she is a human who has endured attacks from an ancient demon of 230 trillion years. In all my life in the demon realm, this is the first time I have encountered such an inconceivable existence. This experience is truly unique, and I feel deeply honoured to have the chance to report this to everyone today. This is an opportunity bestowed upon me by Namo Amituofo."
"My life in the demon realm, spanning 230 trillion years, could be described as a series of peaks and valleys, filled with bitterness, sweetness, and rampant violence. There was never a moment of gentleness, kindness, or tranquillity. Days in the demon realm were almost always lived in a state of intense, chaotic upheaval. If one desires a life of peace, harmony, and profound and wisdom, one can only find it within the Buddha’s teachings; it is absolutely not something the demon realm can provide.
Yet today, I have arrived in the Western Land of Dharma Nature—the world of the Buddha’s teachings—carrying my 'demon nature,' the personality I cultivated in the demon realm. To my surprise, there is such a powerful force here that it can suppress, and even dissolve, my demon nature, rendering it unable to manifest.
Here, you do not need to worry about energy, nor do you lack food, clothing, housing, or transportation. Everything one needs is in great abundance. The concept of 'lacking nothing in life' that people on Earth speak of is a reality here. In particular, the energy available is truly satisfying."
"The demon crowds have existed since time immemorial. To obtain the energy required for survival, we have committed countless heinous acts. At the time, I never felt that what I was doing was wrong. Because we were immersed in an environment of demon nature, it felt natural; in fact, one might feel that they were 'not demonic enough.' If you were too gentle, you would be eliminated by the environment. Only by becoming more demonic, darker, and more ruthless could one hope to climb higher. Although it was a path paved with blood and violence, in that world, it was the law of 'survival of the fittest.'
However, the Buddha’s teachings are entirely different. If you lack compassion and wisdom, you will commit many foolish acts. If you see others suffering and turn a blind eye, caring only for your own enjoyment, that is selfishness. If a practitioner remains selfish, they cannot achieve spiritual success. They will simply continue to rotate within the cycle of , unable to escape.
If one wishes to achieve success in practice, one must thoroughly delete the thoughts of 'I' and 'selfishness.' Not even a trace can remain; only then is a breakthrough possible. Specifically, the concept of 'realising one's true nature' is something I heard for the first time here while listening to Practitioner Su give a Dharma talk. The content of the talk included the teachings of Namo Amituofo and the explanations of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju. Practitioner Su used such colloquial, simple language that we were able to understand it clearly."
"It turns out that an awakened being possesses this ability—they can speak eloquently without looking at any notes, and what they say never deviates from the principles of the universe, the Truth, and the righteous path. After listening to such a lecture today, I observed that among the practitioners on this Earth, Practitioner Su is likely the only one who can speak completely without notes. It is not the kind of speech that is memorised or prepared in advance; it is a natural flow that requires no reliance on text from beginning to end. This is truly extraordinary! Without real substance and a rich inner foundation, it would be absolutely impossible to achieve.
Furthermore, the Buddha’s teachings are not something anyone can just speak about; if you teach incorrectly, you have to bear the karma. Now, I can calmly say the words 'cause and effect.' Previously, in the demon groups, I dared not mention this term. Whenever it was brought up, everyone would tremble. Because, how could we account for the things we had done? It was impossible to calculate or clarify; it was truly a tangled mess.
So, it is better not to deal with it, not to cut it, not to think about it, and not to touch it at all. It is best not to even let a thought arise, just as Practitioner Su says: 'The past is gone, the future has not arrived; live in the present and chant one Buddha's name to the end.' This golden rule is deeply engraved in the hearts of us old demons; it is, in effect, what saved our lives.
Before this, I never dared to touch my past spiritual obstacles. I was always walking on eggshells, terrified that if I triggered them, I would lose my life, swept away by the laws of karma. But now, because Practitioner Su has taught us this method, it is as if she has opened a smooth, wide road for us. We no longer need to walk a bumpy, stumbling path, nor do we need to fear stepping on a landmine—and that landmine is cause and effect."
If you are a demon who genuinely wishes to repent and turn towards goodness, encountering a Buddha or is your greatest opportunity. They can guide you toward goodness, transform your evil into virtue, and even lead you toward a better path, so you need not return to the Demon Realm. Just like Amitabha Buddha, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su—when you encounter such Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, they can lead you toward the light and prevent you from continuing to fall into evil. Throughout the entire universe, the Buddhas who follow the Truth and the righteous path all possess this kind of heart and character; otherwise, they would not be called Buddhas.
However, if you are the type of demon who wishes to develop power and climb the ranks within the Demon Realm, then encountering a Buddha depends on your Causal Conditions. If a Buddha can transform you and the conditions are ripe, you can change your path and enter the Buddha's path. If the conditions are not yet ripe, the Buddha can only let go—if you are still carrying heavy demon nature and cannot accept the teachings, then you must be allowed to return to continue being a demon, to suffer and be tempered, until the day you are ready, and then you will be saved. There are truly many such demons.
If you are a demon who is neither here nor there, it depends on whom you encounter. If you meet a demon, you will be pulled back into the Demon Realm; if you meet a Buddha, you can be saved, distanced from the darkness, and led toward the light. There are quite a few of these intermediate-type demons as well.
Haha, what Practitioner Su does is not so simple. The beings he saves are often old demons, evil demons, and demon crowds that have existed for tens of trillions of years. To be able to pull such demons onto the Buddha's path requires extremely profound power. Without such deep cultivation, one would instead be dragged back into the Demon Realm by the old demons, and the outcome would be entirely different.
And that I can be interviewed here, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Center—the place where Amitabha Buddha personally resides—is something truly worthy of respect for us in the Demon Realm. Even more inconceivable is that even in a Buddha's land, it can accept such a massive number of demon crowds. As Practitioner Su says, the way countless demons, like a surging tide, pour into the Buddha land is truly unprecedented. Only by experiencing it personally can one realize how much karmic fortune one possesses.
Just by entering, the Buddha-light and energy we receive far exceed the energy I accumulated in the Demon Realm over twenty-three trillion years. You can all imagine how magnificent the energy of the Buddha-light is! I have not been here long, perhaps a week or two, I am not entirely sure. However, in such a short time, from the moment I entered until now, the energy I have absorbed is already overflowing. So now, when I speak, my energy is incredibly abundant; even some of the spirits on our planet who were about to wither away and had no strength left are incredibly envious!
However, this time, the mission of Amitabha Buddha and Practitioner Su to save the demon crowds of the Dharma Realm has actually also saved many beings in the Dharma Realm who had lost their energy. Some of them are civilians on planets, and some are various types of creatures on those planets. Of course, the appearance of these creatures is somewhat different from those on Earth; that is because different spaces and different environments shape different appearances. Although there are so many vast differences, everyone shares one common point—that is, the true self.
When I heard the term "true self," I was truly astonished. I knew that Buddhas were great, but I had never received such education; I had never heard that demons also possess the same true self and Buddha-nature as Buddhas, and that it is possible to become a Buddha. This caused a complete reversal in my understanding of my own identity and role. Can demons also become Buddhas? I had never heard of this before; is it true? Oh, but then I thought, I cannot doubt it. Since it is spoken by a Buddha, is there any need to doubt its truth? It must be true. It is just a matter of whether it can be achieved—can it truly be achieved?
Since I am now in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and even such a difficult, unimaginable thing has been achieved—that an old demon of twenty-three trillion years from the Dharma Realm, a pitch-black, shining old demon, could enter this bright, pure, and clean Western Land of Dharma Nature—then what is impossible for a demon to transform into a Buddha? I believe it is possible. Because among the fourfold assembly at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Center, everyone has the opportunity to become a Buddha and realize their true nature. Realizing one's true nature—is that not becoming a Buddha?
So, I look again into the of everyone here—excuse me, this is our natural instinct—to see your situations in past lives. Actually, quite a few people have spent time in the Demon Realm. It is not just the people in the temple; people outside are the same. Many have stayed in the Demon Realm in past lives, so they all carry more or less some demon nature. The stronger the demon nature, the higher the possibility of transformation.
Since it was like that in past lives, and it is like that now, then in the future, it is certainly possible to become a Buddha. Connecting this whole sequence makes me feel very happy. It is like seeing light from within the darkness, and this light is not something that can only be viewed from afar and never reached, but something that can truly be walked toward, step by step.
Why can it be reached? Because in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, Practitioner Su says that as long as we sincerely make a vow and chant Buddha's name, we can reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is too easy! I have never heard of such an easy thing. Think about it, the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is such a holy land, and even demon crowds can enter! Oh my, I should abandon my identity as a demon right now. Yes, I do not even look like a demon anymore.
The transformative power here is too strong; it has turned my originally pitch-black body into a bright white, and my hair has even curled a few times, almost becoming a crew cut or a shaved head. The black energy on my face and the clothes on my body have all been changed to white, and even my complexion has become rosy. I never thought that one day I would become like this. Sometimes I cannot help but take an extra look at myself; I have never seen myself like this before. Those things that I once thought were impossible to happen have now all come to pass.
Since even such things can come true, what is impossible for a demon to transform into a Buddha? What is there that is impossible for a demon? I am truly so grateful to Amitabha Buddha, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su for giving us demon crowds such a precious opportunity! Having just expressed some of my recent insights in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I will now start by introducing myself!
Most people introduce themselves first and then talk about their thoughts, but demon crowds often do not follow the rules. I spoke about my first because I was afraid I would miss the chance to express my gratitude or lose the opportunity to convey my feelings in such a situation.
Next, regarding my own background—I walked from a withered spirit body deep underground to the surface, becoming a new, small life. I was born on a small planet in the universe. Actually, the universe itself is also part of the Dharma Realm; why make such a clear distinction? But since these terms still need to be used, I will explain it more clearly.
This planet was very small, but it was harmonious and kind, and everyone lived a life of mutual respect and reverence. Such planets are actually not rare in the Dharma Realm, but they seem to be on a declining trend. The reason is—no one teaches them. Once a planet has no one to teach it, it is very easy to fall into the Demon Realm. If a person's character, while their karmic fortune is still thick and their luck is good, encounters the correct guidance, they can leave the deviant paths and enter the righteous path, potentially moving toward a better future. But if their karmic fortune is shallow and their luck is poor, and they encounter demon crowds during a low point, then it is very easy to be led into the Demon Realm. Everything depends on one's individual karmic fortune.
Our planet was "small but beautiful," so people lived happy lives for a very long time. I was born there, and I was once a life full of hope, compassion, and kindness. But precisely because this planet was small and beautiful, it became a fat sheep and meat on the chopping block in the eyes of the demon crowds. They believed our energy was pure and kind, which could allow them to survive for a very long time. Thus, such a planet was conquered by demons, and the originally bright world turned into a dark world.
Actually, this is almost the common fate of many planets in the Dharma Realm. After all, this is also part of "impermanence." There is no permanent good, and there is no permanent bad. Once a planet enters a state of energy depletion, it is not easy to recover. Because of the lack of such great karmic fortune and Causal Conditions, it is difficult to encounter the massive energy sufficient to allow the planet to recover. Even if there is, it is a very slim chance.
However, within this slim chance, it has now appeared. As far as I know, Amitabha Buddha and Practitioner Su have passed through some planets in the Dharma Realm to perform . The energy they brought is extremely massive and high-quality, sufficient to allow those planets that have fallen into the dark period to recover and reappear in light. Such an encounter is a great karmic fortune for the beings of the spirit planet. At the same time, I also see many underground lives beginning to emerge, becoming the new life of this planet.
Congratulations! At this time, I would say "congratulations." If it were the me of the past—a demon—how could I possibly say such words? At that time, I would only criticize, blame, and scold; I would look at everyone with dissatisfaction, jealousy, and anger, and in the end, it would be "fire burning the forest of merits." We did not have any merit; how could we have merit when we only did evil things? But for those who strive to do good, if they lose their temper for a moment and burn up all their merits, that is a very, very regrettable thing.
The saying "Endure a moment of anger to avoid a hundred days of worry" is the wisdom of our ancestors, to be passed on to the juniors. But whether it can be accepted depends on the hearts of the juniors. Just like now, I, this "old demon," have already said so much; whether you younger generation of demons can listen and are willing to accept it depends on yourselves. If you accept it, you take it into your own karmic fortune; if you do not accept it and insist on your own views, that is your own cause and effect. My cause and effect are different from yours.
Coming back to the point, someone once asked me, "What happened to that bright star where you were born?" I told them that the planet, like so many others, was eventually conquered by invaders and turned into their colony. We lived a life of scarcity, suffering through miserable days. The reason I began to change back then was simply because I was afraid of suffering. I refused to believe that my entire existence was destined to be nothing but hardship. I started observing the environment under their rule, looking for any cracks or weaknesses. People always hold back a little when they speak, afraid to be too blunt. To be honest, that kind of petty cleverness is only enough to deal with others who possess the same level of petty cleverness. If you encounter someone smarter than yourself, you are seen through in a single sentence.
Our planet was once brilliant and radiant, and it endured for a very, very long time... well, whether this history spans "ten thousand trillion years," "a million years," or "a million trillion years," I cannot say for sure. You can discuss it among yourselves and try to get it clear. It does not matter if you are not sure; the point is that "understanding the meaning" is far more important than "remembering the number." This is why the Buddha’s teachings do not encourage the masses to rote-memorize figures. After chanting for a long time, your heart will naturally open and your understanding will dawn. I truly wish that I had reached that day sooner.
I have reigned over the demon crowds in the Dharma Realm for twenty-three thousand trillion years. Half of that time—twelve thousand trillion years—was spent in a deep meditative state. During this period, everyone’s meditative concentration grew deeper and deeper, reaching a realm that was almost unfathomable.
Throughout those twelve thousand trillion years of meditation, everything was incredibly quiet, with almost no interference. I did not even have the chance to be "disturbed." Many ancient demons, due to their advanced age, saw their physical forms change and even become hunched and deformed. But where I was, the Buddha-light shone upon me—ah, this Buddha-light, it is truly inconceivable! Wherever it shines, it gives people at least a chance to be saved. Those conditions that were continuously deteriorating, whether it was aging or illness, were all brought to a halt.
This is such a vital matter! In the human world, people think this body is the "only" thing that matters, not knowing that the true "only" thing is the spirit, not . The body is merely a borrowed shell; it ages, it reeks, it becomes unable to walk, it falls ill, and when the time comes, it should be discarded—hahaha—just like changing into a new set of clothes. When that moment arrives, my existence will also become a "thing of the past." In the Dharma Realm, half of one's lifespan is spent in manifestation, and the other half is spent in concealment. One must choose that place of "concealment" carefully, because it will influence the long path of your life to come and even determine whether you can continue to exist in the Dharma Realm at all.
The place I sought for concealment and protection was on the surface of the ground, not deep within the Earth. I have no interest in the underground; some ancient demons are quite fond of the depths, but I am not. So, I chose to enter a meditative state on the surface, in a hollowed-out patch of land next to a small hill. That depression was not deep, and I was like a grain of sand, hiding there. Just imagine—a grain of sand on the ground, and inside it lived an ancient demon who had survived for twenty-three thousand trillion years! That is truly a peculiar connection to speak of!
I stayed there quietly for twelve thousand trillion years. In fact, I was even stepped on by massive life forms during that time. The life forms on certain planets in the Dharma Realm are enormous; while they have their advantages, they are not easy for the demon realm to hide in, and they are easily attacked and plundered. Even so, I never once had a single thought or intention to break my meditation, not until the appearance of Practitioner Su. He awakened me, and only then did I emerge from the sand and stone. It sounds quick, but the process was actually quite spectacular. However, I have said enough; perhaps it is not appropriate to go into further detail.
In short, to make a long story short, I was completely unprepared at the time, and I did not know who this Practitioner Su was. I only knew that once I was touched by the Buddha-light, I was led to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. The whole process was simple, yet it completely changed my destiny. I transitioned from being a "stone" in the demon realm into the world of the Buddha. No matter how ancient an old demon may be, none can withstand the Buddha-light; eventually, all will be subdued. Now you know how powerful the of Namo Amituofo is—it surpasses everything.
Furthermore, I also wish to advise my juniors—I do not know where you are wandering now, but if I wish to see, I can still find you. So, there are actually my "demon children and grandchildren" on Earth as well! You are truly scattered; your traces are even found beyond the heavens. You all carry a brand on your bodies, one that I passed down. Just like those Demon Kings, they carry the same brand, and so do the juniors. It is good that you have this brand; at least it makes it easier for me to find you.
It turns out there was a profound meaning behind the Buddha asking me to accept this interview. You must stop causing trouble in the human world and leave human bodies immediately. Do not treat them as objects to absorb energy from anymore; if you do, we would be failing the Buddha’s compassion. And stop controlling them to play those online games. Some of you juniors are actually experts at these games, controlling adults and children to play on computers, use mobile phones, and become addicted to technological products. Alas, it turns out your grandfather is here in the human world, seeing you use these methods to interfere with people.
It is not that technology cannot be used; if it is used correctly and for legitimate purposes, then of course it can be used. But if it is used to destroy or pollute a person’s body, mind, and spirit, then it must stop. You are destroying the human body—how? You are assimilating human cells into demon nature! This is a disaster. Once cells carry demon nature, a person’s behavior easily becomes skewed. Practitioner Su is currently working hard to transform people’s cells, so that every cell can become a Buddha, acting like countless manifestations to do good deeds. But if you allow people to act with demon nature, does that not mean letting the whole society fall into chaos? Families break apart, bodies are ruined, and some even kick the bucket—this is a grave sin. For you, you might just walk away, but that person loses their life because of it!
Smart people, if you feel you are being controlled, hurry and escape the demon’s grasp! However, you demon children and grandchildren, even if you leave a human body, it does not mean you are in the clear. This karmic account must be settled. Your Alaya records: "I once did this thing." This is the law of cause and effect; it will not misidentify anyone. If you did not do it, the Alaya consciousness will not record it; if you did, it remembers it clearly.
This is the principle of ; it will not misidentify the culprit. If I do not say these things to my demon children and grandchildren, I would be failing Namo Amituofo and I would be sorry to Practitioner Su. Today, Practitioner Su is actively performing Chao Du and transforming the demon realm, with the goal of saving the human world, hoping that children will not be disturbed or harmed by demons, which in turn affects their families and the nation.
But now I see that it is actually my own juniors who are involved... how can I sit by and watch? I must save you! You cannot continue like this anymore! Do you hear what I am saying? According to the demon rules I set back then, as long as I speak, all demon crowds can hear me; my juniors should all be able to hear. If you hear me, hurry and leave the human bodies, come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia to surrender, and stop doing demonic deeds. These behaviors have no good end; they will only cause your souls to suffer and face evil retribution in the future.
I sincerely appeal to you: stop entering human bodies to disturb their body and mind, regardless of whether the target is a man, woman, elder, or youth... even the demon crowds in mobile phones should come out! Many of the current mobile phones are designed for children and look quite cute, but if demon crowds enter them, they will change the magnetic field of the phone. Once a child’s innocent nature is interfered with and demon nature arises, they will surely suffer when they grow up. This is almost certain!
So, my juniors, do not continue this. If I had not seen it, that would be one thing, but now that I have seen it, I absolutely cannot stand by. People must know how to repay a kindness. It turns out that the Buddha let me come out to speak because He knew that I myself did not know what my juniors were doing. Therefore, I hope that once you hear this, you will stop immediately. Hey, it seems to be working; some juniors have already stopped, though I do not know where this power comes from. Let me tell you, it comes from me—your old demon, telling you that you cannot continue these evil deeds.
After such a long time, it turns out my demon power still exists. By all rights, my demon power should have been deleted by more than half, because in this place where the Buddha-light shines everywhere, that is what should happen. I understand now; my juniors can hear what I am saying because this power comes from the Buddha—it is the blessing of the Buddha’s power! Wow, I have discovered another major thing; the power of the Buddha is truly inconceivable!
Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, at least I have fulfilled my duty as an old demon. What I have said has just stopped them from continuing to attack human bodies, from continuing to absorb the energy from them, and from harming them any further. Come quickly to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia.
Wow, some have already started moving; this is truly good. These juniors are quite obedient; the blessing of the Buddha’s power is indeed different. Good, I will continue to wait for you to enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Today’s interview ends here.
