The Dignified Demeanour of Conversing with the Buddha
The Twentieth Dharma Talk by Practitioner Su

The Essence of Dignified Demeanour
In this twentieth episode of our ongoing series of talks, Practitioner Su invites us to reflect upon the concept of dignified demeanour, or wei-yi. This is not merely about outward appearance or social etiquette; rather, it is the external manifestation of a heart that is perfectly aligned with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. When we speak of dignified demeanour in the context of our practice, we are referring to the harmony between our internal state of purity and our external conduct.
Conversing with Namo Amituofo
How does one truly converse with Namo Amituofo? It is a dialogue that transcends spoken language. It is a communion of the spirit. When we approach the Buddha, whether in our daily prostrations, our chanting, or our quiet moments of reflection, we must do so with the utmost sincerity and respect. This is the foundation of our spiritual growth. To converse with the Buddha is to open our hearts to the infinite of the of Ultimate Bliss. We must ask ourselves:
- Is my mind settled and free from the ?Am I approaching this moment with the humility of a true disciple?Does my physical posture reflect the reverence I hold in my heart?
Cultivating the Right Path

This involves the purification of , ensuring that our eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind are not led astray by the . By maintaining a dignified presence, we create the necessary conditions for our original nature to be revealed. This is the path from confusion to , from wrong paths to the right path, and from impurity to purity.
