Generosity is a fundamental pillar of the spiritual path. It is not merely an external act of giving, but a profound reflection of one's mind-capacity. When we speak of generosity, we refer to three distinct forms of giving: the giving of , the giving of wealth, and the giving of fearlessness. Each of these acts, when performed with a pure heart, serves to nourish our true self and expand our wisdom.
Non-action generosity is a reflection of one's mind-capacity. When one practises giving without dwelling in the mind, wisdom, wealth, and health naturally follow. If one gives with attachment, only finite are gained, which will eventually be exhausted by the laws of impermanence. However, when one gives without dwelling, true merit manifests—formless, boundless, and inexhaustible.
True generosity is rare, requiring a mind free from impurities and the arising of purity. By being selfless and not seeking rewards, the pure goodness within the heart can dissolve deep-seated grievances. In the state of , all beings are seen as one, sharing the same true self without discriminations. In not seeking, one naturally receives; in not competing, blessings and wisdom flourish.
Within the boundless mind lies the infinite meaning of the Dharma. To receive such grace is to understand the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
