The Eternal Dharma: Namo Amituofo is Teaching Right Now

The phrase, "Namo Amituofo is teaching right now," signifies that in every single moment, the Buddha's lecture on the Dharma never ceases. Since the establishment of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss ten kalpas ago, Namo Amituofo has been continuously teaching the Dharma. Not for a single fleeting instant has this flow of wisdom ever stopped.

The Unceasing Flow of the Dharma

Surrounding the lecture hall of the Buddha of Infinite Life, the assembly of beings from the Western Land is vast and boundless, extending beyond the reach of any horizon. The Dharma spoken by Namo Amituofo flows like a gentle, eternal stream, entering directly into the hearts of every being present. This is a profound exchange of truth, conducted entirely through a heart-to-heart connection.

Because this is a communication of the heart, it is entirely free from the limitations of the mundane world. There are no distinctions based on national identity, spoken languages, skin colour, or cultural backgrounds. In the eyes of the Buddha, all beings are perfectly equal. As the sutras say, the World-Honoured One can emit a single sound, yet every sentient being understands it according to their own capacity and nature.

A Language Beyond Words

When you observe the beings in the Western Land listening to the Dharma, you will see them filled with immense joy and radiant happiness. This is because their hearts have opened and their minds have become clear. They have heard the supreme Dharma that leads directly to the attainment of Buddhahood.

Every teaching they hear is exactly what their hearts have longed to understand. When Namo Amituofo speaks, the truth is revealed with such clarity that all confusion vanishes instantly. Obstacles that once seemed insurmountable are resolved in a single moment. This is the magnificent, unique quality of listening to the teachings of Namo Amituofo.

The Pure Land’s Living Environment

For ten kalpas, the sound of the Dharma has flowed without interruption throughout the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Even the rare and beautiful birds of that realm emit melodious sounds, each one chanting the name of Namo Amituofo. These sounds spread through the vast, clear, and infinite space of the Western Land, creating a symphony of peace.

Those who hear these sounds are naturally inspired to join in, chanting the Buddha-name continuously without pause. This is the supreme, profound method of practice that Namo Amituofo, in His infinite compassion, has provided for all beings. You might wonder where these extraordinary birds come from; they are not beings trapped in the six realms of rebirth, but are manifestations of the Buddha's own vow to transform the environment for the benefit of all.

In the Western Land, listening to the Dharma is not limited to sitting formally before the Buddha. You can hear the teachings everywhere: by the banks of the rivers, under the shade of the wish-fulfilling trees, while walking through the vast, open sky, or even while moving between different dimensions of space.

Across the four lands and the nine grades of beings, every single space is filled with the sound of Namo Amituofo teaching the Dharma. Each being receives the scriptures according to their own level of understanding, their virtuous conduct, and their depth of practice in chanting Namo Amituofo.
