This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Ma Yun, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He is currently undergoing purification and spiritual guidance to awaken from the illusions of his past life. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable Shi Faxi, on February 24, 2018.

Venerable Shi Faxi: "Ma Yun, Namo Amituofo."

Ma Yun speaks: "Namo Amituofo. Occasionally, I should recite Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo, just to change my temperament. The things I want to say have become very simple now; in fact, Namo Amituofo can resolve everything. There is no need to say too much—just one phrase, Namo Amituofo, is enough. Namo Amituofo."

The Struggle for Clarity

"If you, Venerable, could see that I have truly changed, you would certainly be very happy. It has not happened yet, but this younger brother is still working hard. However, the daily purification process has been of great help to me. After all, through these gradual, bit-by-bit changes, I seem to have more control over the many fluctuations in my mind. Life seems to be passing with a bit more meaning now. If one day I truly wake up, I will certainly regret the foolishness of these past days. I must wake up; I cannot let this life pass by in vain like this."

The Deception of 'Inspiration'

"In the past, there were so many times when voices would tell me to do certain things. Sometimes, I would mistake these for inspiration—creative inspiration. I would actually follow those suggestions; for instance, some of my ideas for internet business operations came exactly that way. At other times, these voices involved emotional fluctuations between men and women. Now, looking back at these events, I realise that these were all beings compelling me to act in those ways. These so-called inspirations were entirely detrimental to me. I was being completely used.

"How can this world be so terrifying? It is fortunate that you, Venerable, saved me. Although you had to send me to the hells a few times—which was quite painful—it does not matter. If it can help me wake up, I can endure that bit of suffering. Although, if I had to go through it again, I would still be a little afraid. Every morning, I see so many things; the scenes are truly terrifying. I do not want to be a human again. Why are there so many tragic things in this world?"

A Final Wish for Salvation

"Venerable, I truly want to help save the world now. Please, help me once more. In this Five Turbidities and Evil World, I truly cannot wake up on my own. I know I have improved a little, but it is not enough. Venerable, let us keep working hard together. I hope to bring my wealth here; this is the final wish of my life. Everything I say is from my heart, even if my physical body does not yet think the same way. I will continue to work hard. Venerable Changren is also working hard to adjust my physical body. I hope that day comes soon. Namo Amituofo."
