The Great Shift and the Demon's Defeat

This is a record of an interview with the demon Mo Yi, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Dharma-Nature Land. This account reflects upon his experiences during the recent cosmic shifts and his failed attempt to interfere with Practitioner Su. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on March 22, 2022.

Mo Yi speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Mo Yi. Recently, there has been a massive shift in the magnetic field of the universe. For a being as sensitive as I am, this change was impossible to accept. For a very long time, I have been operating behind the scenes, to manipulate human hearts across the universe. As long as there is a trace of demon nature within a person that resonates with us, we can easily control them. The extent of our control simply depends on how much of their own personality they allow to manifest.

The Cosmic Shift and the Control of Human Hearts

There is not a single human being in the world who is free from our demon children and grandchildren. From a small child throwing a tantrum to an elderly person unable to curb their lust, whatever the temperament, there is a corresponding demon presence. Since I became a demon, the ones I have controlled the most are those who are habitually obsessed with self-protection.

Self-protection is something that exists within every human body; it is almost like a natural instinct. Furthermore, humans have a deep-seated need for companionship. Once they are alone, they become restless. That sense of loneliness, the tendency to think negatively and perceive things poorly—these are the primary targets for me and my demon children and grandchildren to manipulate.

The Game of Human Suffering

Controlling the human world is an effortless task for us. Beyond the human realm, our influence extends throughout the outer star systems and across various planets. Over the five thousand years I have spent in the Demon Realm, I have recruited countless demon children and grandchildren. Many of them were deeply insecure, individuals who magnified their own weaknesses, became trapped in their own narrow perspectives, and turned into extremists. That is how they became my followers.

For thousands of years, I have recruited at will, assigning my followers to different territories and commanding them to recruit even more, expanding our influence until I became a great demon king. Ha! I took great joy in my achievements.

The recent outbreaks, disasters, and wars in the human world—what some call the backlash of space—were actually orchestrated by us, the beings in the plague and demon realms. We did it to teach arrogant human beings a lesson. We attached ourselves to them, making them fight amongst themselves. When humans acted according to our wishes, we laughed heartily. Humans think they are so remarkable, but in reality, they are merely playing a game using the bodies we have occupied. Only the human beings are foolish enough to take it all seriously. The more they suffered, the more excited we became.

The Mystery of the Vanishing Demon Kings

Since the pandemic began, we demon kings had divided the regions among ourselves. We would meet at the demon palace at fixed intervals to plan our next strategies. To my surprise, a while ago, I lost contact with many of the other demon kings. My heart was filled with suspicion. I began scanning the universe to search for their traces; I could not believe they had simply vanished. When my signal reached the Earth, some weak and fragmented messages returned. The demon signals of these kings had changed—they had gone from being incredibly powerful to extremely weak, and they were intermittent. This left me utterly astonished.

Since this had happened, I had to investigate. After tracing the source, I found the signals were coming from a specific place on Earth. I looked with my demon eye and saw that the light emanating from this place was so intense that it could be felt even beyond the universe. The messages revealed that this place had subdued many demon crowds, and those who entered never came out. Why did this place possess such immense power?

The Failed Assault on Practitioner Su

Once I realised the truth, I searched various demon realms and discovered that many of the major demon leaders were indeed unreachable. I had not realised that, while I was distracted, such a massive shift had occurred in the demon world. This made me furious. My entire being tensed up. I refused to believe that there was a human being I could not touch. Even if they were under the banner of the Buddha, I had no fear, for the Buddha and the demon are fundamentally incompatible.

I quickly gathered the forces of the Demon Realm and called upon the other demon kings for support. I knew I could not succeed alone, so I adopted a human wave tactic, ordering the demon kings to take turns attacking. To oversee the entire situation, I stayed in the rear, observing the circumstances to adjust or change our strategy.

I knew the leader of this place was no ordinary person. His sensitivity was so sharp that he could perceive the boundless space. I ordered my followers to attack the leader's eyes, hoping to cause interference. To my surprise, the effect was negligible. It only made his eyes red, but it failed to achieve our goal. Many of my followers were instead captured into a black, resonant Dharma instrument—the large qing.

A Final Reflection and Deliverance

When I could think of no other way, I had to go in myself. I broke into the centre, but I did not expect that the Dharma protectors here were boundless, rendering my magic useless. As I struggled in the attack, someone suddenly called out my name: Demon King Mo Yi! I looked and saw it was a demon king I had collaborated with hundreds of years ago. I had always admired his power, yet even he had been subdued here. As I sighed in lament, I found myself unable to move, and in the end, I too was subdued by the Dharma instrument.

To be honest, I am still quite unconvinced. Only after my movements were restricted did I calm down and observe this place. I discovered that everyone calls the leader Practitioner Su. I am not an unreasonable person; I know that Practitioner Su truly possesses qualities worthy of respect. I will say no more for now, as I am still processing these events in my heart.

Mo Yi

Out of compassion, the Buddha has bestowed upon Mo Yi the Dharma name Shi Wenyuan. Namo Amituofo."
