The Mechanics of Human Calculation and Spiritual Attachment
An Interview with the Cosmic Bodhisattva Mo Wubian (Shi Fayong)
Recorded by the Chief Writer, Shi Faxin, on November 1, 2021
This interview was recorded on November 1, 2021, by the Chief Writer, Shi Faxin. It features the Cosmic Mo Wubian (Shi Fayong), who provides a detailed analysis of the spiritual condition of an individual named Lun. The account explores how Lun’s habitual patterns of suspicion and calculation have created a fertile environment for spiritual attachments, and how these entities might be addressed through the wisdom of the Buddha and Practitioner Su.
Mo Wubian (Shi Fayong) speaks:
The Densely Packed Burden of Calculation
"Upon entering the human body of Lun, we observed that his physical form was densely packed with spiritual entities; there was almost no space left between them. There is a distinct, arrogant air about Lun. This arrogant air drives him to push forward relentlessly every single day, and it has also made him exceptionally adept at observing others—he is highly skilled at reading the character of the people around him. Even when it comes to employing people, he must first subject them to his own rigorous judgment, observation, and contemplation before he is willing to place any trust in them.
Lun is extremely cautious in everything he does. Consequently, he carries a very heavy root of suspicion within him. This root of suspicion compels Lun to investigate and clarify the background and life history of everyone he encounters. The Head is filled with a vast array of information, both significant and trivial. In worldly terms, Lun is a person who understands a great deal. However, the more one knows, the more one is prone to negative patterns of thought. This has allowed a multitude of demon crowds to accumulate upon him. Among them, the demon crowds that crave attention and self-expression are currently the most prominent."
The Trap of Worldly Ambition
"Because of the nature of his work, Lun is required to interact with a wide variety of people. He must ensure that people recognise him, and he must constantly strive to build connections. Every aspect of his affairs must be managed perfectly for his superior. Therefore, whether in his speaking techniques or in his interpersonal relationships, he possesses a certain level of manoeuvring skill. Such a mindset inevitably falls into the trap of worldly concerns. From the perspective of the demon crowds, this is nothing more than scheming—using the mind to plan, using the mind to read others, to observe their hearts, and then to make one's own judgments.
Lun's judgment of human nature is not necessarily wrong, but it is often not comprehensive, nor is it entirely complete. When he is busy analysing human nature, he is, in fact, already inviting the very beings associated with those traits into his own human body. For instance, if he thinks to himself, 'This person is not sincere enough, they are prone to exaggeration,' or 'This person is particularly fond of chasing after women,' the moment these mental notes arise in his mind, the spirits already residing on Lun begin to stir in response. Lun's professional role frequently requires him to face such judgments and contemplations, which has left his human body in a state of utter chaos."
The Difficulty of Changing Habitual Patterns
"Today, as a new disciple of the Buddha entered the human body of Lun, many of the sentient beings there immediately thought about negotiating terms with us. They have long been accustomed to following Lun and using this human body in such a transactional manner. Now, asking them to let go of their interference with Lun leaves some of them completely bewildered. Because the human body of Lun itself is accustomed to this way of operating, they are simply echoing his own habits. Like Lun, they all desire to gain some advantage or benefit. Unless we can offer them some incentive, they have absolutely no desire to change their ways.
In the process of going back and forth in conversation with these beings, it is truly remarkable how much their personalities mirror Lun's own. Whether they are demon crowds, attached spirits, or , they all appear somewhat dismissive and unwilling to listen. I ask the Buddha and Practitioner Su: What authority do we have to offer these beings benefits? How can we grasp their desires so that they might be willing to bow their heads or submit? I humbly request that the Buddha and Practitioner Su release the necessary authority to us."
The Mirror of the Human Form
"Only after entering the human body of Lun did we truly understand that the personalities of these beings are exactly like human personalities; they simply lack a physical form of their own, which is why they seek out similar human bodies to attach themselves to. Today, we carried the light of the Buddha into every single cells of Lun's human body. We first showed kindness to the cells, allowing them to form a positive impression, and through this observation, we are finding the right method to proceed.
This is the progress for today. Gratitude to the Buddha and Practitioner Su. Namo Amituofo."
