The Confession of an Ancient Media Demon
An Interview with Tobi, a Demon from the Dharma Realm
Recorded at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre
This is a record of an interview with Tobi, an ancient demon from the Realm who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This account reflects upon his existence spanning 5.2 billion-billion-trillion years. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on March 22, 2026.
Tobi speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am deeply grateful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for granting me this opportunity to be interviewed. Today, I will open my heart and speak truthfully about everything I have witnessed in mainland China.
My name is Tobi. I am an ancient demon from the Dharma Realm, having existed for 5.2 billion-billion-trillion years. While I may be slightly younger than the previous demon who was interviewed, in the context of the Dharma Realm, reaching an age of billions of trillions of years makes me an 'ancient of ancients' among demons. Ah, but age is merely a number. For us demons, a single session of meditation or entering samadhi can cause billions of trillions of years to pass in an instant. Thus, 5.2 billion-billion-trillion years have simply flown by for me."
A Demon's Choice: The Lure of the Human World
"One would think that at such an age, a demon would seek a quiet place to retire—perhaps by entering deep samadhi. Yet, I found myself drawn to mainland China, a place of intense activity. I did not come here to meditate; I came to expand my influence in the Demon Realm.
Haha! I, Tobi, am certainly bolder than many of my kind."
The Abundance of Energy in the Human Realm
"Being bold is one thing, but surviving and thriving in China’s rich, diverse environment while exerting the power of the Demon Realm is no easy feat. The land is teeming with demons. To survive long-term, one must compete for energy. But in China, you never have to worry about a shortage of energy. Haha, I suspect you all understand why, don't you? The reason we are never hungry or cold is because there are so many people here. Not only are there many people, but their thoughts are complex, their plans are endless, and their activities are incredibly vibrant. Under these conditions, China is the perfect environment for the survival of demons.
Whether young or old, people of all ages can be easily controlled by our demonic influence. Although there are many demons, the sources of energy available to us are equally vast. As long as we operate within the universal principles, the Truth, and the Right Way, extracting energy from humans is effortless."
The Infinite Layers of Demonic Possession
"What I mean by operating within the universal principles, the Truth, and the Right Way is this: if a person’s character is pure and kind, completely untainted, we demons cannot touch them. But if their minds are complex, they attract a multitude of demons. There is no limit to the number of demons that can attach to a person—this, too, is part of the universal principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. It is something we are capable of doing. The fact that there is no limit to the number of demons that can reside within a human being is a truly terrifying reality from the perspective of the human world.
At first glance, a human body is only about 1.6 to 1.8 metres tall. Yet, why is it that the number of demons gathered upon them can be so terrifyingly vast, layered infinitely? I see this in people all over the world, but especially in China. It seems that demons begin to enter their bodies from a very young age, and many are unwilling to leave."
After all, demon crowds are a part of the spirit realm, and we are capable of things that human bodies simply cannot achieve. We can transmit information throughout the spiritual realms, allowing people to receive news in advance and react to various messages as they arrive. The most fascinating part of this is that people have absolutely no self-awareness of it. Their thoughts and behaviours are controlled by demon crowds, which is why they develop distinctions between good and bad. Yet, due to the limitations of their physical bodies, people are completely unable to see that their actions, words, and deeds are not actually originating from their own true . In reality, all of this is heavily influenced by the ''—or rather, the impositions—of us demon crowds. We provide the sensations and thoughts that lead to their policies, behaviours, and the kind or malicious words they speak. We can make people perform a whole series of actions without them ever noticing our presence. Afterwards, people might feel deep regret or profound emotion, but it is already too late; everything is firmly within the grasp of us demon crowds.
The Media Demon's Reach
I am Toby the Demon, a Media Demon, also known as the Demon of Information Dissemination. As a leader among the Media Demons, I have conducted media dissemination work on the land of China thousands, tens of thousands, and even hundreds of thousands or millions of times. This job might sound easy, but it is anything but. My vast system of 'demon children and grandchildren' and I work diligently every day to transmit different messages to Chinese people, both great and small. People cannot detect these messages at all; they simply sprout slowly within their hearts. However, a figure like Practitioner Su can see through our true faces at a single glance, leaving us nowhere to hide and nowhere to retreat. Practitioner Su must surely know how significant the role of the Media Demon is and how vast our influence can be.
Very well, let me continue by following my habits and explaining what I, the Media Demon, actually do on a daily basis. Let us take the subject of 'war' as an example. The word 'war' has been a common occurrence throughout thousands of years of Chinese history, right up to the modern era. The principle in Chinese history that 'the empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide' can actually be seen through the lands gained or lost in every single war. So, when it comes to war, what exactly can a Media Demon do?
The Mechanics of Conflict
When two armies are engaged in battle, there are countless Media Demons transmitting messages to the generals and soldiers of both sides. This depends on whether the two armies have more evil than goodness, or more goodness than evil. Ultimately, war is something initiated from a starting point of selfishness. Both sides are thinking of their own land and their own people; it is inevitable that they are fighting for private interests.
In such a situation, if the war itself is a form of evil, we demon crowds can provide great 'encouragement' while transmitting information. We make the war more intense and more tragic, increasing the death toll and the scale of the suffering. The messages we transmit might manufacture various pieces of fake news, or create thoughts in the minds of the soldiers that trigger anger or a stronger desire to resist. We let these types of messages enter their heads, accumulating bit by bit until they exert a greater effect. Regardless of the type of message we transmit, the essence remains rooted in evil.
For instance, during a battle, we might interfere with one side's army, prompting them to take a shortcut to seize the opponent's food supplies. This stirs up the enemy's rage, causing them to end the war with an even more violent offensive. In such cases, the casualties are inevitably much higher. Or, if we see both sides attempting to negotiate a peace treaty, but the content of that treaty is distorted and selfish, we will strive to participate. We not only ensure the negotiations fail but push the two nations directly into a state of slaughter.
Puppets of the Spirit Realm
In this process, what we can do is actually very simple: we transmit the message directly into the minds of the lead generals negotiating the agreement. This 'message' tells them exactly what they should do at that very moment, weighing the pros and cons, allowing them to make the decisions we hope for with absolute clarity. Therefore, the saying that 'people are actually puppets' is not wrong at all. Practitioner Su always says that the fourfold assembly are puppets; well, every single person I have controlled for so long was also a puppet. You could say that whatever message I gave them, they would follow it without fail.
To give an example, I, Toby the Demon, once controlled the great figure Cao Cao during the Three Kingdoms period. Controlling Cao Cao was actually quite simple. We only needed to dispatch hundreds, thousands, or even tens of thousands of 'demon children and grandchildren' to transmit the same message into Cao Cao's head at the same time. This message could be: 'You must defeat Yuan Shao to unify the North, and only then can you establish your own territory here.' When this message swirled around in Cao Cao's head, he would think every day: 'How can I defeat Yuan Shao? How can I unify the North? How can I consolidate my power in the North?' As long as we kept transmitting this message, he would go and fight that war exactly as we intended. Of course, Cao Cao did eventually succeed in unifying the North, wiping out the Yuan Shao clan and consolidating his Cao Wei power. But the created from the killing was truly staggering.
A Rare Glimpse of 'Goodness'
What is perhaps more remarkable is that our group of demon crowds does not only do evil. We also use media dissemination to do some relatively positive things. Although it is still a form of control, we base it on a direction of kindness and goodness. For example, let us return to the Battle of Changban during the Three Kingdoms period. When Zhao Zilong fought at Changban, resisting Cao Cao's massive army with only his own strength, the feat itself was impossible. If Cao Cao had simply ordered his army to fire arrows, Zhao Zilong would have kicked the bucket in an instant. But why was he able to break through the encirclement without dying?
That is because we knew Zhao Zilong was a man of loyalty and righteousness. Therefore, we simultaneously transmitted a message to Cao Cao's mind: 'Do not kill Zhao Zilong; you must capture him alive, let him serve you, and make him your talent.' Cao Cao was a man who loved talent, so our message was a way to 'kill two birds with one stone.' Because Cao Cao loved talent, he could not bear to kill Zhao Zilong. Although he originally wanted to have Zhao Zilong pierced by a thousand arrows to eliminate future trouble, our tens of millions of 'demon children and grandchildren' told him in his mind, 'Capture him alive, do not kill him.' So, when Cao Cao issued this order, his generals and soldiers dared not strike Zhao Zilong with full force. Instead, they allowed Zhao Zilong to fight his way through alone, successfully rescuing the young master, Liu Shan. While it is true that Zhao Zilong’s life was not destined to end there, with the fierce assistance of us demon crowds, this dramatic scene was brought to life.
The Sharp Eyes of the Demon
Of course, everything I have said above is just using famous historical events as points of discussion. The number of people I have controlled and the information I have transmitted throughout my life is truly vast. We even interfere in the lives of ordinary civilians and common folk, disseminating all kinds of information for them. Whether it is good or bad depends on the individual, and the results vary accordingly; it all depends on whether their heart is good or evil. We demon crowds can see at a glance whether a person's heart is good or evil. People in the world may know how to disguise and package themselves, dressing up bad people as good people and packaging evil villains as benevolent gentlemen, making it impossible for others to see or feel the truth. But none of this can escape our demon eyes. This is why some people who appear very kind suffer such tragic experiences or have their lives end prematurely. Amidst all these misfortunes, there is actually the participation of us demon crowds! This part relates to the demon crowds' control and observation of the heart.
We demon crowds are experts at 'attacking the heart.' After carefully observing the goodness or evil of a heart, we decide how to strike and how to control that person. Not a single detail escapes the sharp eyes of us demon crowds. Therefore, it is said that all the 'old demons' possess the 'art of attacking the heart.' This is a very precious skill and a truly remarkable thing.
The Demon's Reflection
Speaking of which, the headquarters of my demon palace is located in Beijing, and the scope of my development over a long period has actually been in the northern region of China. It can be said that most of Northern China was once a place controlled by me and my 'demon children and grandchildren.' We also frequently cooperate with demon crowds from other tribes to manipulate matters in the North, both large and small. As long as our philosophies are similar, there is nothing that demon crowds cannot cooperate on. That is why my previous control of Cao Cao was possible; because Cao Cao was a major figure in the North during the Three Kingdoms period. By controlling Cao Cao, we could follow him wherever he went, whether he moved to the South or the North, and continue our control.
To be honest, I, Toby the Demon, am not a demon who is utterly wicked and does nothing but evil. Along this journey, I have reflected many times: is such behaviour of mine truly reasonable? Can it really last forever? Thinking about it, I have even wanted to stop and not do evil things anymore. But when I think of my 'demon children and grandchildren' who have followed me for many years, and the existence of such a vast demon realm system, I find it hard to let go of all our operations at once. As a result, I have been doing evil for over six thousand years. The number of things in mainland China that have been manipulated by our demon group is truly countless. War is just one aspect; there are many others related to local policies, people's lives, and the trivial matters of daily existence—buying and selling, food, clothing, housing, and transportation—all of which may be connected to us.
My 'demon children and grandchildren,' like me, are skilled at and enjoy this type of information dissemination to control people's actions. Demon crowds have never had any logic or rules to speak of; we just do what satisfies our hearts and allows our bodies to feel pleasure. In truth, we demon crowds all enjoy doing things that are stimulating. Namo Amituofo.
This time, all of our operations were forced to a complete halt the moment Practitioner Su arrived in Beijing, bringing with him the radiant light of Namo Amituofo. Our demon palace was finally discovered by Practitioner Su. To be honest, I had hidden our palace exceptionally well—it was tucked away in... well, you might laugh when you hear this: it was located in Beijing, very close to the Forbidden City, in a place called Beihai. Beihai is not a sea, but a lake—a very famous man-made lake in Chinese history. At the time, we had relocated our demon palace to this site, residing deep at the bottom of the lake. While Beihai appears quite large, our demon palace was far larger. We existed in a space at its base that was many, many times greater than the space visible to the physical eyes. Back then, we truly believed that by hiding beneath the water, we would never be found.
The Fall of the Demon Palace
We were aware that Practitioner Su had been to Beijing many times, bringing the brilliant light of Namo Amituofo to shine upon the city. Yet, we never dared to poke our heads out. This time, however, Practitioner Su discovered our existence in one fell swoop. Even the depths of Beihai could not escape its fate; in an instant, Practitioner Su destroyed our entire demon palace. My demon children and grandchildren, along with me, were brought into the Western Land of Dharma Nature. Looking back, it was not a bad thing at all. For so many years, we had committed countless evil deeds, and we never knew when the laws of and cause and effect would catch up with us. In reality, Practitioner Su saved us rather than destroying us. It was only after we arrived in the Western Land of Dharma Nature and began to listen to sutras and hear the Dharma that we gradually came to understand this truth. Otherwise, we would have surely harboured deep resentment over the destruction of our palace.
Controlling the Heart of Power
What exactly have we been doing to control people in mainland China in recent times? Controlling the national leaders in Beijing was the simplest task imaginable. I was right beneath the feet of the Emperor. Although I was deep at the bottom of Beihai, the space for the activities of the demon crowds was vast and unrestricted. Therefore, whenever Beijing held major leadership conferences—around March, according to the current calendar, when the 'Two Sessions' take place—it was the perfect opportunity for many large and small demon crowds from across the country to gather. We came specifically for these auspicious dates to control the leaders. Since the Two Sessions run from March through April, the demon crowds would stay throughout that entire period, with the sole purpose of transmitting messages to the leaders and exerting control over them.
As I mentioned, I also manipulated aspects of economic development. The Two Sessions are a prime example; my demon children, grandchildren, and I participated as representatives in the discussions regarding the economy and people's livelihoods. We could instantly discern the good and evil, the benefits and harms, within the economic issues being debated. From there, we could control the voting and the ultimate direction of policy.
The Illusion of Prosperity and the Reality of Karma
When the economy develops well, it naturally appears as though the people's standard of living has improved. However, ignorance grows simultaneously. Perhaps people's greed is amplified, and their desires are intensified. Greed and desire are the very things that demon crowds love to manipulate most. If the topics discussed at these meetings violated the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, or if they were linked to greed and desire, we demon crowds would add our own 'effort' to the mix, turning simple greed into insatiable avarice and ordinary desires into intense, burning cravings. On the surface, it looks like living standards have improved, but in reality, moral foundations have further collapsed. This is exactly what we demon crowds want most: to make people appear to be living in a time of peace and prosperity, while deep within their hearts, they are living lives of loneliness, anxiety, and the constant creation of karma that will eventually lead to karmic retribution.
It can be said that from ancient times to the present, whenever there was a place or a crack that allowed me to spread my influence, I, Motobi, and my demon children and grandchildren would never let such a precious opportunity to control people slip by—whether it involved major affairs or trivial matters.
A Final Warning from Motobi
After being thoroughly purified by the Buddha-light in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, our hearts have become much clearer, and we have learned to repent and feel remorse. It may seem that all of this has come too late, but we deeply cherish this opportunity to be saved and to be interviewed. I am determined to confess every single wrong thing I have done to all of you. I also wish to advise those demon children, grandchildren, and demon crowds who have not yet surrendered to Namo Amituofo: you must remember these words of mine, Motobi: 'Karmic retribution is precise and never misses.' Do not think that the suffering of the demon crowds is far away from you; in truth, it is not. Never mind the suffering of retribution—just look at how many people are suffering because of your momentary pleasure. Do you not feel that you are being far too selfish? Of course, demon crowds believe that selfishness is the natural way of things, but if you were to reflect on this and experience it yourself, it would be incomparably painful! Therefore, do not inflict upon others the treatment you would not wish to receive yourself. One day, everything will return to you.
The Great Blessing of Deliverance
We are deeply moved by Practitioner Su's great act of delivering sentient beings. Everything happened so quickly that we had no time to react. However, being able to encounter such a practitioner with such a great heart, great vows, and great power in the human world is a great blessing for the Demon Realm, and a great blessing for all beings. The densely packed space of Beijing has suddenly become much clearer; this is something that can be seen with the eyes of the demon world. Beijing has gone through countless dynasties, and in truth, it has experienced countless wars and bloodshed, forming a landscape filled with the spirits of sentient beings.
Practitioner Su has performed Chao Du for Beijing and its people time and time again. In reality, he has already taken away many of the wandering spirits from historical palace intrigues and wars. So many of these spirits have been brought to the Western Land of Dharma Nature in an instant. If the magnetic field of Beijing becomes positive, the benefits for the people of the entire country will be immense. Because Beijing is the capital of the nation, its influence is profound and far-reaching. Practitioner Su's act of deliverance is truly wise beyond measure.
Very well, I shall conclude my words for today. I hope that those of my demon children and grandchildren who have not yet surrendered will do so as soon as possible. I, Motobi, am waiting for you here.
Namo Amituofo.
