The Wind Grandmother and the Path to the West
An Interview with the Spirit of Steve Jobs
Recorded on September 24, 2017

This account was recorded on September 24, 2017, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. It features the spirit of Steve Jobs, who, having sought deliverance through the compassionate guidance of Practitioner Su, now resides in the spiritual realms. In this testimony, he shares his experiences witnessing the profound process of and his interactions with various sentient beings, including the mysterious 'Wind Grandmother,' as they prepare for rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Steve Jobs speaks:
"Wow! The air is getting better and better. It feels so soft and comfortable to touch! I no longer have that lump of black soot inside my nose. Everywhere I look, there are birds singing and flowers blooming; the grass sways gently in the breeze, looking so free and at ease. The thousand-year-old trees release their phytoncides, and animals wander along their familiar paths. There is large, clear dew on the leaves and petals, looking so cool and refreshing. I take a deep breath; the scent of damp earth in the air makes my mind incredibly clear. A gentle breeze blows, and I close my eyes to enjoy the sensation on my face. I hear the chirping of birds and see the crystal-clear lake. I dip my feet in—it is so cool and comfortable—and small shrimp swim past my feet. I am startled and quickly pull my feet back, afraid they might nip me. This is the scene of the earth returning to spring, which I am enjoying so much. I want to share this with everyone: in the future, the Earth will return to this state. It relies on immeasurable and boundless Chao Du and immeasurable and boundless thoughts of Goodness. Everyone will return to living in peace, without any fighting or competition; everything will be so beautiful."
The Wind Grandmother and the Tornado
"The 'wind' that Practitioner Su saves includes strong winds, tornadoes, big winds, and small winds. The beings carried within these winds are all different—some are their family members, some are good friends, and some are acquaintances met along the way. In short, those who get along with each other drift together with the wind. Therefore, within a single gust of wind, there are many, many sentient beings from all directions, each with different names, personalities, and habits. When the Buddha-light of Practitioner Su shines, everyone is brought out—some fat, some thin, some round, some flat. The sentient beings inside the tornado were just swirling and swirling until they came out; the scene looked quite interesting. This tornado was actually a 'Wind Grandmother'! How unique! She had white hair, wrinkles on her face, and looked quite old. I asked why she was a 'Wind Grandmother'—I had heard of the 'Tiger Grandmother,' but never a 'Wind Grandmother'.
The Wind Grandmother spoke: 'Where did you come from, kid? Why are you asking so many questions?' I was startled by her tone and stammered, 'I am Steve Jobs from the West.' The Wind Grandmother originally didn't want to pay me any mind, but as soon as she heard the keyword 'West,' her eyes lit up. She immediately turned her scowl into a smile and said, 'Young man, you are from the West? How could you possibly reach the West?' I replied, 'Because I have a Practitioner Su who is different from others; her skills are profound, something ordinary people cannot understand.' The Grandmother said, 'Could it be... could it be... Practitioner Su? I have heard of her. Only she has the ability to send people to the West.' I said, 'You guessed it! You get a prize.' Hearing my flippant tone, she frowned and asked, 'Then where is your Practitioner Su?' I said, 'She is flying in front. The light is so bright, can't you see it? Or... do you need to wear reading glasses?' I don't know why, but I just wanted to challenge her a bit because she was so fierce.
The Grandmother said, 'I see her, I see her.' She turned back and shouted to the sentient beings in the wind, 'Everyone, we are saved!' The Grandmother changed to a gentler tone and asked, 'How do we go to the West?' I replied, 'Do you hear the heavenly music? You must follow along and chant: Namo Amituofo.' The Grandmother nodded: 'I will go back and tell my friends and family.' I took a breath and forced a smile. When I was ready, I said to her, 'I can help you all. I can guard the rear. You just need to focus on chanting the Buddha-name, and you can proceed to the West.' I am learning ; even if people are fierce to me, I must be compassionate. Although my practice is a bit forced, at least it is a good start. The Grandmother began to urge everyone to chant the Buddha-name, and I followed behind, protecting them as they moved forward. This happened today, and it was quite fun! Every day, I am working hard to learn. I cannot be someone who brings shame to myself; I must make progress."
The Weight of Responsibility
"I arrived at a university campus and visualised myself riding a bicycle with a long line behind me, carrying the spirits of the devices—the mobile phones—that I owe. Some of them played with computers and phones until their reactions became dull and their movements slow. At this rate, they won't make it to the West in time. The time for Chao Du is fixed every day, no more and no less, so one must seize the opportunity. So, I visualised myself carrying them, pedalling the bike very fast, which also served as exercise. Huff, huff, huff! I was getting a bit out of breath. Forget the bicycle; I changed the visualisation to flying a plane. I piloted it myself, flying toward the West. Whoosh! That was much better. It wasn't like before, where the back was so heavy and I had to keep pedalling—it was exhausting. Practitioner Su had already gone elsewhere, and now it was time for me to save my own spirits. As for Chang Ren, he flies outside the universe to teach the old acquaintances or cosmic Bodhisattvas he knows, hoping they will 'surrender their weapons.' That doesn't sound right; I misspoke. What I meant to say is that I hope they can all join the profession of saving the world. I mean, changing their path—no, not changing their path. It's just changing the way they control people, guiding them toward Goodness. I'm just making it worse; I won't say any more. They all have profound martial skills; I cannot afford to offend them."
The Magic of Transformation
"I followed Practitioner Su to a vast land. She visualised the entire land moving toward the West. The number of sentient beings contained within that land was immeasurable and boundless. Even the soil alone was unimaginably vast. When Practitioner Su pulled the land, some insects in the grass and soil fell out because the shaking was so intense. However, falling out wasn't a big problem; Practitioner Su wouldn't miss a single one. But... I was bumped by those falling insects. One bump, two bumps, three bumps, four bumps... 'You guys be careful!' I said in a somewhat loud tone. As soon as the words left my mouth, I regretted it because it was too lacking in compassion. 'I am sorry, I was wrong.' I stepped aside; it was I who was blocking the path.
By the way, when Practitioner Su was performing Chao Du for the animal realm, I saw many animals that had been cut into pieces of meat instantly return to their original forms, shedding their animal bodies and turning back into humans. This is a magical trick, but I felt so much pain for these animals! They were once human, too! Now, they are slaughtered and cut into pieces by humans who love to eat meat. How can everyone still do such cruel things? They have too! If you were them, wouldn't you suffer? If you suffer, then why still eat meat? I speak up for those animals, hoping that humans can be a little more compassionate toward them and stop eating meat."
A Call to
"After returning from a round of Chao Du outside, Practitioner Su began to save the spirits of the fourfold assembly, and I stood by and watched. Some spirits stood beside the fourfold assembly; some were chanting the Buddha-name, some were chanting half-heartedly, and some looked very resentful, staring at the fourfold assembly to see if they were chanting earnestly. If you closed your eyes, they had the authority to hit you, push you, or kick you, though they couldn't go too far. In short, they just needed to wake you up. If the fourfold assembly fell asleep, the spirits would also become increasingly sleepy and fall asleep too. After falling asleep, they might bump into other spirits, and those other spirits would shake their heads at them. Everything is the same as your own habits. Therefore, I advise everyone to stay awake; if you feel sleepy, pinch your own thigh, otherwise, just wait for the spirits to pinch you. I am not trying to scare everyone; it is just that everyone must be responsible for their own spirits. You must lead them to chant the Buddha-name, and you yourself must make a vow to go to the West; only then will the spirits want to go to the West just like you. You must understand that the spirits and I are one. You must endure the pain in your body; perhaps it is the spirits wanting to leave, or perhaps you thought of something you shouldn't have, attracting the spirits, so you need to endure the . You must be willing. If you complain, be careful that the spirits might give you a 'head-on blow.' The fourfold assembly has tremendous to be able to send their own spirits to the West, so please seize the opportunity!
Today is the . They are coming, they are coming. Welcome everyone; so many people have come. No, so many spirits have come. In a moment at nine o'clock, the grand ceremony for rebirth in the Western Pure Land will begin. Everyone, come quickly! Everyone, come quickly! The kangaroos over there, stop eating grass; it's time to be human again! Come quickly. The cloud Bodhisattvas in the distance, hurry, hurry; if you drift too slowly, you won't make it in time. It's better to arrive early so you won't have to stand too far back. Although you won't be unable to see, I'm sure everyone wants to stand in the 'rock zone'! I am busy greeting everyone. That is all for today. Bye-bye!"
