The Wisdom of Cherishing Blessings: An Interview with Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva
Teachings from Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva
Regarding the Rain-Making Dharma Assembly for Taiwan

The Simple Truth of Daily
On the seventeenth of April, 2021, the disciple Shi Haiyuan had the honour of requesting teachings from Mahasthamaprapta during the , specifically regarding the urgent need for rain in Taiwan. Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva offered this compassionate guidance:
The most ordinary things in life are often the greatest blessings. Having clothes to wear, food to eat, and a warm place to rest are gifts we should never take for granted. When you are living in the midst of such abundance, you must learn to cherish it. Do not let your blessings slip through your fingers like sand. When you drink water, you should contemplate the suffering of those who have none. Do not let a single drop fall to the ground in vain.
People in this world only realise the value of water when it is gone. Yet, they fail to realise that the spirits of the unseen realms suffer even more intensely. If you wish to resolve this suffering, how should you act? You must view all beings as one with yourself. Everything in the universe possesses a spirit. By respecting one another and cherishing our shared resources, we purify our Six Roots and cultivate true blessings.
The Compassionate Vessel of the Truth
In this modern age, which is filled with pollution and confusion, the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way remain unchanged within your heart. By holding the name of Namo Amituofo with a pure intention, you board the compassionate vessel of . Practitioner Su observes the conditions of the world to save all beings, and we must all unite our hearts in this mission of salvation. By constantly holding the sacred name of Namo Amituofo, we can sprinkle the nectar of upon the suffering of all beings. As we kneel before Amitabha Buddha, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva and I, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, will follow the to assist you. The Three Sages of the West are here to receive all beings; chant the Buddha's name, and we shall all return together to the of Ultimate Bliss.
I am Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva. The changes in the hearts of people in the worldly realm are driven by the shifting times, the environment, and human desire. The most critical factor is whether the human heart remains pure. If people are selfish, seeking only to satisfy their own desires for fame, status, wealth, money, and land, then no matter how great their blessings or how abundant their resources, they will eventually face a time of scarcity. If you do not cherish resources and exhaust your blessings, the one who will ultimately suffer is yourself.
The Interconnectedness of All Life
Taiwan is truly a blessed land. Its people are kind-hearted, their characters are simple and pure, and they understand the value of Generosity. If every citizen of Taiwan can share a common vision of protecting life and upholding virtue, and if they cherish the resources of their island, the land will remain as beautiful as spring throughout the year. In our current society, every person plays a vital role. Whether one is a street sweeper, a bus driver, a wealthy executive, a market vendor, or a sanitation worker, every individual in every profession maintains the operation of the nation. This is what we call a life community. If you can stand firm in your position, know how to give, think of others, and cherish resources, then these resources will flow like an inexhaustible spring.
Consider the water we use. If every person saves just one drop, the collective result is an inconceivable volume of water. Conversely, if every person selfishly wastes a drop, the resources are quickly depleted. The people of Taiwan are currently suffering from a lack of water. In the past, typhoons brought abundant rain, but without them, the rainfall is insufficient. With reservoirs drying up and the sky remaining clear, the plants and trees wait in thirst for nourishment. This current drought is a moment for the people of Taiwan to reflect deeply.
Reflecting on the Crisis of Scarcity
The beautiful island of Formosa was once known as the Kingdom of Fruits because of its abundant water and rich produce. All crops, including rice, require water for irrigation. This suffering caused by the lack of water serves as a profound lesson on its importance and the necessity of conservation. From my perspective as Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, I see the current state of Taiwan clearly.
It is said that where the Buddha is present, and where practitioners of virtue reside, there is an abundance of blessings, stability, and material sufficiency. However, Taiwan has been affected by political cycles, which have stirred up waves of events, causing the hearts of the people to fluctuate. This has brought forth fires of anger and deep sorrow, causing environmental damage that the physical eyes cannot see. Just as the quality of the air—whether it is pure or polluted—is invisible to the naked eye, the spirits in the sky above Taiwan are also rising and falling in turmoil.
The Compassionate Deliverance of Practitioner Su
There have been many tragic examples in the past, such as the devastating earthquake of September 21, which served as a reminder of the importance of water resources, natural ecology, and soil conservation. Yet, these events have not yet fully awakened the compassion of the people. During this current drought, Practitioner Su, out of great compassion, initiated a request for rain for Taiwan during the Thrice Yearning Ceremony at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Before this, Practitioner Su had led the fourfold assembly on a tour of Taiwan to perform for the spirits connected to the land, witnessing the dried-up rivers. It is deeply concerning that the situation escalated so quickly to the point of water rationing. The fact that the ghost deities of Taiwan travelled to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to plead for rain shows just how severe the drought has become.
Practitioner Su previously helped Australia resolve its drought through his prayers. When he heard of the dried-up reservoirs and rivers in Taiwan, and during his morning -Body Visualisation Deliverance, he saw the withered bodies of insects and small creatures. He immediately made a vow to perform Chao Du for Taiwan and help bring rain. With great Wisdom and compassion, Practitioner Su led the Bodhisattvas of the universe and the Milky Way to pray for rain for Taiwan.
Purifying the Resentment of Spirits
During the Dharma-Body Visualisation Deliverance, I observed the southern part of Taiwan. Because of the many pig farms, chicken farms, and aquaculture ponds, I saw many angry spirits of pigs, cows, chickens, fish, and shrimp crying out in the space above the land. In particular, because the people of Taiwan consume much pork, the spirits of the slaughtered pigs are filled with resentment, weeping and wailing throughout the sky. The excessive use of pesticides by farmers is also a contributing factor to the lack of rain.
In the central region, areas like the Cingjing Farm and Lishan are known for high-quality fruits such as peaches, persimmons, and apples. In these areas, countless insects and small creatures were crying out, claiming that the fruit farmers had killed them with pesticides. Practitioner Su comforted these beings, saying, "Humans were ignorant and caused your deaths, but now the Buddha has come to receive you. You may have your bodies restored to their original state and chant the Buddha's name to be liberated."
A Call to Repentance and Harmony
The deliverance team then moved to the northern region, particularly the misty Beiyi area, including Luodong and Yilan. These spirits were affected by exhaust fumes and were covered in darkness. They complained to the humans, "You drive luxury cars and emit exhaust, causing air pollution." In the eastern region, at Tarokko Gorge, many demon crowds were trapped under rocks, crying out for help and asking for a chance to change their ways. Practitioner Su told them, "The people of Taiwan do not realise that eating meat and fish is creating . Now the Buddha has come to receive you; let go of the resentment in your hearts." Through the Buddha-light, Practitioner Su purified them, allowing them to chant the Buddha's name and move toward the light, resolving their resentment and the suffering caused by the drought.
Practitioner Su used his Dharma-Body to manifest Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, allowing the people of Taiwan to see her. The people knelt in sincere prayer, begging for salvation, and felt the presence of the Buddha. As the deliverance began, Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva stood at the forefront. When the people saw her, they knelt and pleaded for help. I, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, held a golden lotus and waved it before the Buddha to receive all beings into the Western Pure Land. The arrival of Amitabha Buddha and the Three Sages of the West brought tears of to every spirit.
The Path Toward a Prosperous Future
As the deliverance team opened the space for the earth spirits, insects, and animals, Practitioner Su helped them restore their original forms and find liberation. The Bodhisattvas of the universe and the Milky Way guided these beings to face the Three Sages of the West. Practitioner Su used the Buddha-light to illuminate them, and they all moved toward the light, welcomed by Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva and me. The Jade Emperor and the Four Sea Dragon Kings then helped to bring light rain. To truly resolve the drought, Practitioner Su consulted with the Jade Emperor to concentrate the rainfall in the reservoirs so that the people of Taiwan could use it wisely. Upon hearing this, some spirits were joyful, while others were displeased, asking, "Do the people of Taiwan know they were wrong? Do they know the importance of saving water and cherishing their blessings?"
At this moment, I, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva, advised the spirits not to grieve or resent. Although humans sometimes create karma because they do not understand the laws of karma and cause and effect, their suffering leads to reflection and repentance, which in turn helps them learn to respect life and all sentient beings. This is a precious life experience. Practitioner Su has gained this good affinity, and the people of Taiwan and the spirits of the space have received the Buddha's blessings. You must know how to repay kindness, adjust your character, and use a pure, kind heart to create a harmonious society in Taiwan. This change is the true way to repay the Buddha's kindness. If those who study the Buddha's teachings can cultivate diligently and spread the Dharma, that is also repaying the Buddha's kindness. The Buddha's teachings are not superstition or merely a religion; they are an education to transform the human heart. It starts with every individual. Those with such kind hearts will receive the blessings of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, influencing everyone around them in their daily lives. Setting such an example is also a form of practice. The eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind are ; practitioners must protect them. See what is good, think what is good, and do what is good. Everything should move toward Goodness, and a more prosperous and abundant Taiwan will follow. You must take the Buddha's teachings as your foundation; that is the greatest blessing for the people of Taiwan.
On the first day of the deliverance, a light rain began to fall. To accumulate the rainfall, Practitioner Su requested the Jade Emperor to concentrate the water and the Rain God to direct it to the reservoirs. These reservoirs will see their water levels rise. Currently, Practitioner Su continues his morning Dharma-Body Visualisation Deliverance, and the Thrice Yearning Ceremonies are also dedicated to praying for rain for Taiwan. These prayers will be successful. Practitioner Su's compassionate deliverance of spirits and his help in praying for rain are profound. The people of Taiwan can do their part by abstaining from non-vegetarian food, chanting the Buddha's name, and repenting to help resolve the resentment of the spirits, thereby creating the conditions for rain to fall. I urge the people of Taiwan: do not be selfish anymore. Learn to know your blessings, cherish your blessings, treasure your resources, and follow me in chanting: Namo Amituofo.
