The Urgency of Action

Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju offers this guidance: When you are capable, do as much as you can. Do not shy away from the work. Do not wait until you are frail, aged, or burdened by illness. When that time comes, you may wish to serve, but your body will no longer be able to follow your heart. You will be left with nothing but helpless sighs of regret.

However, if you choose to do more while you still have the strength, you must do so without resentment or regret. Accept every task with a joyful heart, and you will naturally experience the profound of the .

The Distinction Between and Merit

There is a vital distinction between the visible and the invisible aspects of our practice:

  • When you perform physical acts of service, you are cultivating Blessings.
  • When you perform spiritual acts of service, you are cultivating Merit.

The Path to

Do not complain of fatigue when you are able to serve. Simply continue forward with a steady, unwavering mind. Through this process, you are cultivating both Blessings and wisdom. You are actively clearing away your spiritual obstacles and filling your heart with gratitude.

By serving all beings in this way, you create vast, positive connections. You will find yourself smiling, your diligent practice will bear fruit, and you will eventually see your true nature.
