The Wisdom of Skanda Bodhisattva on Extraterrestrial Beings
An Interview with Skanda Bodhisattva
Recorded on February 4, 2021
The Inner Path to True Reliance
Beings often feel unsettled in their hearts, searching everywhere for something to rely upon. Practitioners who have achieved success and clearly perceived the truth of reality will tell everyone: you must seek your reliance within, not outside. Finding your true self is the greatest reliance you can ever have. Practitioner Su often warns the fourfold assembly of disciples that one must rely on oneself rather than on others. However, before one reaches the state of being an awakened being, it is common to be controlled by and spiritual attachment. In such states, it is difficult to be the master of one's own life or to follow the teachings faithfully, as one is often led by the force of and destiny. At this stage, one must rely on the of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Practitioner Su teaches that one must first exert ; only then can these external conditions provide the necessary support and assistance. If you compromise with your own karmic obstacles and allow yourself to be led by the nose, you will inevitably suffer when tests arise. If you respond to these challenges using your habitual reactions and the "self," personal ego, and selfishness, the result will surely be suffering. This is precisely the process of practice.
Overcoming the Ego and Habits
If you are able to overcome your personal ego and habits, you will succeed in your practice. You will no longer need to suffer, and you will have the opportunity to be reborn in the of Ultimate Bliss. If you fail to achieve this, you will continue to follow the cycle of reincarnation. To succeed in your practice, you must possess the following qualities:
- Right Knowledge and Right Views: Understanding the truth of the universe and the path to liberation.
- Diligent Practice: Putting forth consistent effort without slackening.
- Resilience: Remaining steadfast when facing tests and challenges.
- Self-Confidence: Believing in your own potential to reach .
The Boundless Reach of
If you are still alive, you may have the chance to encounter a true spiritual friend who can save you. However, if your life is short and you do not meet such a guide, you may not know when you will encounter the Buddha’s teachings again or have the opportunity to wear the robes of a practitioner. If you have not transformed your karma, this is a matter of destiny and affinity. You will spend lifetime after lifetime in the cycle of reincarnation. Looking at it this way, the Venerables and volunteers at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre have truly accumulated tremendous blessings over countless lifetimes. It would be a great pity if one did not achieve success in this lifetime.
Practitioner Su’s lectures can be heard as far away as the Milky Way and throughout the universe. While this may seem unbelievable to some, it is a reality in the spiritual world. Before and during our assemblies, it is common to see extraterrestrial beings from other planets seeking . Initially, these scenes attracted much attention, but now everyone has become accustomed to them. Recently, there have been several instances of extraterrestrial beings appearing, which is related to Practitioner Su’s recent lectures on the light emitted from his body entering the head, and the subsequent invitation of spirits from a planet with a thirty-million-year history. The connection of Dharma affinity is truly inconceivable. This allows these planets and their inhabitants the opportunity to become part of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
The Nature of Awakening
The work of delivering sentient beings knows no borders, nor is it limited by time or space. Such a mission to save the world requires true skill and the power of vows; it is not something an ordinary practitioner can accomplish. The fourfold assembly of disciples at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre often witnesses the opening of time and space. You should use these experiences to elevate your vision of practice, your compassion, and your faith in the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and yourself.
The invitation of spirits through Practitioner Su continues, especially the frequent invitation of extraterrestrial beings through the head. To an outsider, this is inconceivable and unimaginable, yet it is a reality. In of one who has realised their true nature, there are no limitations of form, space, or time. These elements can be integrated or function independently, applied entirely according to the situation. This is the natural response and ability of one who has realised their true nature. Because an awakened being acts entirely for the sake of all beings, these natural responses and abilities will inevitably benefit them and will never cause harm. The words and actions of an awakened being are in accordance with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Because they possess wisdom that aligns with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, they will never violate it. Therefore, their actions, rooted in compassion and a vast mind, naturally conform to the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, ensuring that all beings receive the greatest benefit with minimal harm. Although Practitioner Su may suffer injuries while bearing the suffering of beings, those who are invited out are not punished; instead, they are sent to the Dharma-Nature Land, where they ultimately have the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and become a Buddha.
Cherishing the Precious Dharma Affinity
The various beings invited from Practitioner Su’s body—ranging from those in this world to those in other realms, the Milky Way, and the void—are all beings that Practitioner Su has previously saved. This demonstrates the vastness of his compassion. If you are fortunate enough to encounter a Buddha, a , a true practitioner, or one who has realised their true nature, you have the opportunity to resolve your problems and receive the true benefits of the Buddha’s teachings. Such an opportunity is rare. You must practise diligently and achieve success, as this is the most concrete way to cherish this precious Dharma affinity.
