Witnessing the Light of Deliverance
An Interview with Ma Yun
Recorded on March 13, 2018
This is a record of an interview with Ma Yun, who sought the profound deliverance of at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. Having experienced the transformative power of the , he now observes the ongoing work of the monastic community from the spiritual realm and reflects on the boundless required to save all suffering beings. This testimony was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable Shi Faxi, on March 13, 2018.
Ma Yun speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Ma Yun. Every single day, I am privileged to witness the incredible, life-altering work of the Chao Du, and I feel deeply honoured to be counted among the ranks of those who are part of this magnificent mission to save the world.
A Master of Boundless Compassion
The abilities of the Venerable are truly beyond anything I have ever witnessed in the human world; it is a spectacular display of spiritual power that leaves me in awe. Every day, I find myself watching the proceedings, completely transfixed by the sheer magnitude of what is being accomplished. Beyond the essential work of Chao Du, the Venerable often takes me and many others to visit various realms of suffering across the vast universe. Every time we return from these journeys, my face is covered in tears and snot—the intensity of the suffering I witness in those dark places is simply too much for a heart to bear without the support of the Dharma.
The Radiance of the Monastic Community
I have also been deeply moved by the outstanding performance of Venerable Changren during the morning sessions, along with the dedicated efforts of many other monastics. Beyond them, there is an uncountable number of monastics in the community working tirelessly together in this great mission of deliverance. The skills of the Venerable are truly dazzling; they shine through the void every morning like a beacon of hope. Yet, what is even more evident to everyone is the infinite, boundless compassion that the Venerable carries in every action. Wherever the Venerable goes, people naturally emerge from the shadows to pay their respects and kneel in profound gratitude. The number of beings the Venerable has helped is beyond counting. Now, the more I see, the clearer my understanding of the truth becomes.
The Presence of the Buddha in Australia
Every day, on the sacred grounds of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, I see the scale of the temple spreading out further than the eye can see. The golden light that radiates from this place is a testament that the Buddha truly resides here. I now know with absolute certainty that the Buddha’s teachings can save the entire world and the entire universe. I have immense confidence in this now, because I have witnessed the magnificence of Namo Amituofo and the extraordinary skills of the Venerable. Venerable, I know that I will be coming to join you very soon. I am deeply grateful for all the help you have given me, and I look forward to the day we meet again. Namo Amituofo."
