A Vision of the Future Hsiang Kuang Pure Land
An Interview with Ma Yun
Recorded on February 28, 2018
Ma Yun, a visitor from abroad, sought spiritual guidance and deliverance through the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. This interview, recorded on February 28, 2018, by the chief writer, Venerable Shi Faxi, captures his reflections on discovering the centre, his internal spiritual , and his vision for the future of the temple.
Ma Yun speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Today, I have come to realise something profound. Venerable, I have been watching the videos of you and the centre online, right here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. Seeing your familiar tone and manner, I realised that these are the very things I have been seeing in my dreams. I am still in the process of fully grasping the reality of all this. I have always had a deep fondness for the land of Australia, but I never imagined that such a unique and extraordinary Buddhist temple would be established on this very soil. I have already been checking flight information; I truly hope to have the opportunity to visit in person. At the moment, I still have a few matters that require my attention before I can make the journey."
The Inner Call to Practice
"In my heart, there has always been a persistent force of goodness. I originally thought it was merely a reminder to perform good deeds, but now I finally understand that it was actually a persistent urging to engage in true practice. I am genuinely astonished that I have encountered these circumstances. I am currently in the process of adjusting my life and seeking to gain a deeper, more comprehensive understanding of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia."
"The very name 'Australia' holds an extraordinary attraction for me. I have even thought that if we were to add this temple to the list of travel destinations, it might serve as an excellent way to promote it. This is a plan that suddenly occurred to me, though I suspect you, Venerable, might feel that such an idea would disturb the pure atmosphere of practice here. My mind tends to work quite quickly, and I simply feel that it is a pity that more people are not aware of this place. If this could become a sacred site for spiritual tourism, the results would be truly magnificent."
A Vision of Golden Splendour
"Today, as you guided me through these observations and this interview, I must admit that my heart was truly stirred with excitement. However, you reminded me that I should maintain a state of meditative concentration and stillness. When I finally calmed my mind, the clarity I experienced was truly remarkable. I was able to see the full, future manifestation of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia—a temple of such golden, radiant splendour. It is absolutely magnificent! I am determined to help in any way I can."
"Venerable, if there are still areas where I fall short or where my understanding is lacking, please continue to guide and assist me. I will continue to actively strive to break through all obstacles. Venerable, we are going to be together in this mission; it is truly wonderful. Namo Amituofo."
