The 210,000 Trillion Year Journey to Namo Amituofo
An Interview with the Ancient Demon Mo Youjie
Recorded by Venerable HaiZe on April 23, 2025
This is a record of an interview with Mo Youjie, an ancient demon who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the . This account reflects upon his existence spanning approximately 210,000 trillion years. Recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on April 23, 2025.
Mo Youjie speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I offer my respects to everyone at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. The story of my 210,000 trillion years as a demon of the Realm has truly never been made public—at least, not my personal account. Today, I have the opportunity to share a brief narrative with all of you, and for this, I am deeply grateful to the great of Namo Amituofo for granting me this chance.
I have been in the Western Dharma-Nature Land for nearly a week now. I originally thought that 210,000 trillion years was an incredibly long time, but since arriving, I have seen an endless stream of demons from the Dharma Realm being delivered here. And let me tell you, the ages of these ancient demons are even higher than mine! It has truly opened my eyes. I had never seen a demon with 390,000 trillion years of history before today. I couldn't help but take a curious peek—he was indeed a genuine ancient demon. It has certainly broadened my horizons."
The Middle Path of the Demon Realm
"My 'demon nature' is actually quite ordinary in the context of the Dharma Realm. I was never one of those standing at the very front, looking glorious and imposing, but I wasn't one of the ones trailing behind, unable to keep up or getting bullied, either. I belong to the middle tier. This group actually makes up the vast majority of the demon population. So, how did I manage to survive for 210,000 trillion years? It is because I understand the importance of knowing one's place. You must know when to reveal yourself and when to stay hidden.
When should you reveal yourself? That is when there is no one else around, or when you are surrounded by juniors. When you need to lead everyone to charge forward, you must step up without hesitation. When a situation requires a decision or someone to take charge, you must be the one to step out. Do not be timid or hide in the back; doing so might sacrifice the group's chance to win or turn the tide of a battle.
At such moments, personal pride or 'face' does not exist. Of course, when you stand at the front, your 'ego' is quite prominent, and everyone must listen to your commands. But to earn that, your daily conduct must be worthy of their obedience. In Buddhism, we speak of 'virtue.' In the demon realm, is virtue not also necessary? By 'virtue,' I mean the ability to lead your juniors so that they are willing to listen, accept your teachings, and follow you because they respect your character.
The concept of 'respect' is incredibly important. Generally, a selfish and greedy Demon King will not respect his juniors, and he will likely find them whispering behind his back. When the time comes that you need them to step up for you, you may not be able to move them. However, if you maintain good relationships and show respect to your juniors, such a Demon King is worthy of being followed. It is mutual. Between demons, we also observe the exchange of hearts and use our own judgment to decide which Demon King to follow."
The Equality of the Buddha
"Similarly, in the Buddhist realm, one also has a set of standards to judge whether the words or suggestions of another are worth following. But there is one thing everyone must understand first: the role of a Buddha requires tempering through many trials—even 'demon tests' or the 'Buddha tests' one faces while becoming a . One must be hammered and tempered like steel, becoming completely transparent and luminous, before one can possibly become a Buddha.
When a demon encounters a Buddha, or when a Buddhist practitioner or a junior encounters a Buddha, please show the Buddha at least three parts of respect. Actually, it should not just be three parts; it should be total, absolute reverence. This is because the Buddha is equal. This concept of equality is extremely important. True equality does not distinguish between high or low, beautiful or ugly, good or evil. What they see is the true nature that exists within everyone. Therefore, the Buddha is equal toward demons, equal toward kind people, equal toward Bodhisattvas, and equal toward the fourfold assembly of disciples. However, within this equality, how much you receive and how much you benefit depends entirely on your own character.
At the same time, the Buddha will teach you according to your capacity. This is your tremendous blessing, because if the Buddha has manifested before you, it means you have the opportunity to be saved. If you are not saved this time, you may have the chance when you meet again in the next life. This is how rare and difficult it is to encounter a Buddha. Regardless of one's role, one should be deeply grateful and fortunate when meeting a Buddha.
Everything I have just said comes from the depths of my heart. Beyond the insights I have gained from listening to Practitioner Su give Dharma talks in the Western Dharma-Nature Land these past few days, I have actually encountered a Buddha in my own past. That was a very, very long time ago. It seems that everyone has a root of goodness, because our true nature is inherently full of light."
The Memory of the Dharma
"At this current stage, if your affinity with the Buddha has matured, the Buddha will naturally manifest to help you. Demons become demons because they have not received Buddhist education; otherwise, everyone could walk the right path and would not have committed such monstrous crimes. I, Mo Youjie, completely agree with this statement, because in my life as a demon, there was a period when I had contact with the Buddha. That was long, long ago—it is truly hard to calculate the time—back when I was still a 'demon child.' By that time, I had already surpassed the role of a 'demon grandchild.' That required passing tests; in the demon realm, one must be recognised by a Demon King to advance from a demon grandchild to a demon child.
It seems that every role and every space is like this: when you want to ascend, you need recognition. This is the same in the demon realm as it is in the Buddhist realm. Even in the Four Sacred Realms, is it not the same? From Arhats and Pratyekabuddhas to the sages of the Bodhisattva realm and the Buddha realm, each stage requires the spiritual qualifications inherent to that level to exist in that space. This is my understanding of the Buddha's teachings.
I had received a little bit of Buddhist education back then, and I never expected that today I would be able to see—truly, clearly see—Arhats, Pratyekabuddhas, Bodhisattvas, and Buddhas coming here to seek deliverance from Namo Amituofo. It stirred up memories of what I had learned in the past. This is truly precious. These spiritual experiences are invisible to the physical eyes of those in human bodies, which is a great pity, because it is not something a human can see at any time. But it exists; humans just cannot see it. However, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, there is someone who can see it: Practitioner Su. Of course, the fourfold assembly of disciples, through diligent practice, can also see it. We could say that we expect you, the fourfold assembly, to have the opportunity to become like Practitioner Su in the future. After all, a teacher can only produce students of their own calibre. Since your teachers are Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su, then of course it is possible for your future achievements to be the same as theirs. Please grasp this tightly. I am digressing again, but these are my sincere ."
The Reality of the Demon Realm
"Let me talk a bit about myself. Over these 210,000 trillion years, starting from my time as a demon grandchild, I grew up on a rather ordinary planet. When I was born, my parents were already demons. I had no choice; I was just a little demon. Being a child meant being a demon, because my parents were both demons.
However, on our planet, half of it belonged to the world of the Buddha. This was quite unique. In the Dharma Realm, there are many things that people on Earth may have never heard of. While you might think that 'anything can happen,' how could half of the same planet be a demon world and the other half a Buddha world? Let me tell you, it is indeed the case.
Furthermore, many planets in the Dharma Realm are like this. It depends on whether the Buddha eventually subdues the demons or if the demons rule the entire planet. Of course, demons cannot rule the Buddha, but they can infiltrate the hearts of the citizens in the Buddha's world. The people have not yet become Buddhas, and their character is still fluctuating and unstable. So, if a demon with strong 'demon nature' or one who is ruthless enough appears, it is possible for them to infiltrate and cause destruction.
Of course, the Buddha knows this, but the Buddha also relies on Causal Conditions. If they can be saved, they will be saved; if they cannot be saved, even if the Buddha wants to save them, it is impossible. This situation can actually be seen in the human world today, even among ordinary people or the fourfold assembly of disciples. Some are taught by Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, or Practitioner Su. Even though they are taught individually according to their capacity, why do some leave while others stay? Those who stay are still not yet Buddhas and need to be trained. In the process of being trained, some accept the teachings, and some do not. Those who accept them and truly put them into practice can move forward step by step, overcoming many obstacles. They might eventually become like Practitioner Su, or perhaps even like Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju or Namo Amituofo. This is something to look forward to.
However, if you do not listen during the training, if you have your own strong opinions, strong subjectivity, strong ego, and insist on doing things your own way—or even break the rules, meaning you break the —then it will take a bit of effort and time to train you. Who can be without faults? But do not repeat them, because these things are all counted against you, not anyone else. You are the one who will suffer the loss.
Why do I speak with such empathy? Because I am already an 'ancient demon.' I have seen too many demon children, demon grandchildren, and Demon Kings, as well as ancient demons who came before me—who are now my juniors. The personality of every demon is strong, strong, and even stronger. If you want to be an elder, you cannot train them without some real skill. Every personality is different, and the they receive is also different.
So, why can I speak about the vision for the fourfold assembly of disciples? Because we can see your future. For us ancient demons, looking at your is not difficult; it is our specialty. Of course, little demons or demon children and grandchildren might not be able to do it—haha—after all, their own power is limited, and they only look at what is right in front of them, neither looking forward nor backward. But we can see the past and the present, because the past does not change; it has already happened. However, the past influences your present, and the present influences your future. We can know what your current situation is and how your future will change. Namo Amituofo."
However, for those who have realised their true nature, we simply cannot fathom these things—haha! It is much like how we have no way of grasping what Practitioner Su will do next. He operates by what is called 'the Dharma has no fixed form'; he adapts spontaneously. At any given moment, a single thought of his can turn our entire Dharma Realm and the demon path upside down.
Yet, no matter how he applies this, the result is always the same: sending us to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This is where the Buddha’s brilliance truly lies. Because the demon crowds are so diverse and ever-changing, if one did not have the ability to respond to these myriad variations, how could one possibly subdue them? How could one save them? The result of this salvation is to be sent to the Western Land of Dharma Nature. This outcome is something we should actually feel very fortunate about—we are not encountering a great demon, but the Buddha himself.
The Fate of a Planet
My home planet was half-Buddhist and half-demonic. Perhaps it was the planet's destiny to shift in such a way, but eventually, the demons came to rule the entire world. The once-bright Buddhist side of the world slowly dimmed into black—the colour of the demons. The Buddhas who were there departed; since they could no longer save that planet, there was no point in staying. The Buddhas naturally vanished from that world, and the inhabitants had no choice but to become subjects of the Demon Realm. At that time, there was no room for choice, unless you possessed the immense power required to escape the influence of the demons.
Thus, I grew up on a demon planet. However, the Buddha is incredibly compassionate. He once made another vow: 'To the inhabitants of this planet, as long as you are willing to chant my name in the future, there will come a day when you are saved. Whether it takes a thousand years or ten thousand, you will have the opportunity to be delivered by me.' The Buddha made this great vow back then, and when I was just a little demon-grandson, I heard about it from an old demon. This old demon had once received teachings from the Buddha, but he lacked the discipline to succeed and eventually fell into the Demon Realm. His personality was too rigid, too stubborn to change, and even the Buddha could do nothing about it. Just as Namo Amituofo is so vast, a Universal Buddha who seeks to teach everyone—if you refuse to listen to what he says, the Buddha cannot force you to listen. The power of choice lies entirely in your own hands.
The Old Demon's Miracle
The old demon was exactly like that. He told me a story—his own story. He had once been taught by the Buddha, but he could not live up to the Buddha's words, and later, he became unwilling to listen, choosing to leave the Buddha's world for the world of demons. He regretted it later, but it was too late; his entire being was filled with demonic energy. Yet, the tiny seed of Goodness deep in his heart seemed not to have been extinguished, for he still remembered what the Buddha had told him: as long as the people of this planet chanted his name, there would come a day of salvation. When the old demon told me this, he was right before my eyes, tears streaming down his face, chanting incessantly: 'Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo.' He just kept chanting.
Suddenly, a miracle occurred! A beam of light descended and took the old demon away! He vanished right before my eyes! I have kept that image hidden in my heart for a long time, and even now, I feel deeply moved. That Buddha-light was so warm, and I saw the old demon smiling at me.
I wanted to tell the old demon, 'I have become an old demon now, a very senior one. Have you gone to become a Buddha?' He smiled and nodded. It was wonderful! It is so wonderful to be able to say this now! Ever since I saw the old demon being taken away by the Buddha-light, I had never mentioned it again—it was too extraordinary! If you were to say this in the Demon Realm, no one would believe you. How could a demon enter the Buddha-light? The old demon was chanting 'Namo Amituofo' the whole time. Perhaps his time had come, and he was taken away by the Buddha-light. From that day on, I never saw a trace of him again. This event was buried deep in my heart; it turns out that if an old demon chants the Buddha's name, he truly is taken away by the Buddha.
The Power of the Name
'Have you gone to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss?' The old demon nodded. 'Then I am relieved. I once thought, Namo Amituofo, I do not know you, but I heard the old demon speak of this. You took him away with light, so I believe you are a good person, and the old demon must have gone to a good place.' Sure enough, if I know now that he went to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I am so old myself, and I have come to know the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and Namo Amituofo... 'Then, old demon, congratulations! You have been gone for quite a long time. I am already 210,000 trillion years old, so you must have been there for about 210,000 trillion years, right?' The old demon nodded.
It turns out that the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss and Namo Amituofo have existed since that time, and his Buddha-light has always been saving sentient beings. Namo Amituofo even went to our original planet to teach the Dharma, so there was hope after all! This means that everyone on that planet who heard the Buddha teach and chanted the name of Namo Amituofo could be saved. It is truly so. I seem to see Namo Amituofo nodding at me now. The merit of this name is truly inconceivable; it is absolutely magnificent! After 210,000 trillion years, because I heard the old demon chanting 'Namo Amituofo', I chanted it twice with him. I had never met a Buddha, nor had I heard the Buddha’s teachings, yet today, 210,000 trillion years later, I have actually been saved!
How many people would believe this if I told them? But I am here, living and breathing, telling this story to everyone. The name 'Namo Amituofo' is truly inconceivable!
A Message for Australia
This corresponds perfectly with what Practitioner Su has been doing in Australia recently. He has made a vow, hoping that the people of Australia will have the opportunity to hear the name 'Namo Amituofo' so that they may all be saved and enter the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss in the future. He has even deployed advertising vehicles and set up billboards promoting Namo Amituofo, hoping that those who see them will chant 'Namo Amituofo' and have a chance to be saved. This is compassion in its purest form. Here, I, the demon Jie, offer my utmost respect to Practitioner Su. I have used my own story to prove that this is indeed true. The people of Australia are saved! I hope that every one of you will have the chance to chant the name 'Namo Amituofo'. Perhaps it will be in this lifetime, perhaps in the next, or perhaps in whichever realm you happen to reincarnate into—you all have the opportunity to be saved.
Today is Wednesday, isn't it? Practitioner Su is taking the fourfold assembly out to the grass to chant the Buddha's name again. Namo Amituofo is there in the front, leading the spirits of the flowers, trees, and the beings dwelling within the clouds who are being saved by the chanting, performing for them. This is merit beyond measure.
In the Western Land of Dharma Nature, we see scenes like this every Wednesday and Thursday, and our hearts are filled with for them. Being taken away by the Buddha must mean they are going to a good place; they will certainly never have to be spirits again, wandering in the cycle of rebirth, not knowing when they might be saved. I am telling the story of the old demon, but there is simply too much to say! Sometimes, when I reach a certain part, the situation I describe becomes an exchange between the Dharma Realm and the Earth, so I mention it in passing. Because I might not mention it again later, I just bring it up while I can. Naturally, I must return to the main topic.
A Middle Path
After the old demon said those words to me, he disappeared, and I remained silent. From then on, it was as if I had been influenced; I knew not to be too reckless in front of others, nor to fall behind, so I became a 'middle-of-the-road' demon. Knowing how to maintain a sense of proportion turned out to be a virtue as well.
However, I see that the human world should be the same. When it is time for you to step forward, you should do so without hesitation for the sake of saving sentient beings. This is true in the Buddha’s teachings, and in the Demon Realm, it is naturally about using one's own strength to save our demon path.
In any case, after about... 210,000 trillion years, I have rarely looked back like this. Why dwell on the past and stir up thoughts? If you think the wrong way, you create , so I have not looked back on these things. However, it is necessary to categorise things a bit now. It was likely about 70,000 trillion years ago that I decided to withdraw from the Demon Realm and find a place to rest. At that time, I felt I had lived long enough—21 minus 7 equals 14, so I had spent 140,000 trillion years in the Demon Realm. Fortunately, I was not taken away by the laws of karma and cause and effect. So, I found a place. This place is actually quite common, but there is something uncommon within the commonality, depending on whether you know how to look.
On our planet, water resources are extremely precious. Therefore, in places where there is water, people do not disturb it so that they can leave something for future generations. So, I settled in the water. I am not afraid of water, and water has life; within that endless cycle of life, I could survive. Unless there is no life in it at all, becoming stagnant water. Even stagnant water might have life that allows me to survive, unless that stagnant water is completely devoid of life—that would depend on my own fate. As it happened, this water has always existed on the planet. The planet once experienced an explosion of the entire Dharma Realm, which was extremely dangerous; I might have even reached the point of atrophy.
Later, before I withered away, a force entered—that was, of course, the power of the demons—and it jolted me awake. I was still in that water, continuing to enter samadhi. I had a thought at that time; perhaps it was the moment of my death! I did not expect that my life was not meant to end, so by borrowing a little bit of the life-force of the demon crowds, I, an old demon in the water, was able to survive. Of course, the demon crowds did not know, and at the same time, I maintained the role of this demon planet.
Until one day, some demon crowds disturbed this lake. I suspect that only if there is a guardian can the lake remain undisturbed. Later, perhaps due to Causal Conditions, some demon crowds disturbed the water and scooped me up. I am a demon who enters samadhi within water molecules. Water molecules are extremely small; if you look with human physical eyes, you cannot see them because they are so tiny. Humans can see water, but even the smallest amount of water is composed of a vast number of water molecules.
To put it plainly, I am one of those water molecules. Does water not have certain structures? I am not entirely clear on that myself. In any case, I can see that within that pool of water, I am but one element among the molecules—small enough, wouldn't you say? So small that even with your modern Earth technology, you would likely need a high-powered microscope to see me clearly. These terms are not a problem for me; it seems that words appear before my eyes whenever needed, telling me exactly what I need to express to you all. Perhaps on other planets, these concepts or words are not used to express the same things.
However, being at this location on Earth, and in such a sensitive and pure place as the Western Land of Dharma Nature, the information we wish to know appears before us at any moment. Where does this power come from? I suspect it is the power of the blessing from Namo Amituofo. For instance, I was able to say the phrase high-powered microscope so easily, and yet, I saw those very words manifest before my eyes. These characters are not even your Chinese characters; they are the script used in the Demon Realm of my home planet.
The Wonders of the Spiritual Realms
In the Demon Realm, every place has its own language, and when messages are transmitted, there must be information and a script to record it. This script is the language of the spiritual realms, invisible to your human physical eyes, but visible to us. Isn't that quite marvelous? This is what is meant by the saying that there is nothing too strange to exist. In fact, it simply exists; if I had not been interviewed to tell you this, you would never have even imagined it, would you? Sometimes you do not need to know, but once you do, you realise how insignificant you are, and you cannot be too arrogant or conceited. Such people are prone to premature death—which is to say, they create karma, suffer injuries, and endure pain. Therefore, when there is no need to show off, it is better to be humble and modest; when it is time to show your capabilities, then do not be reserved.
As I mentioned earlier regarding the water molecule, I am an old demon among those molecules. That water molecule did not wither away, and until it was discovered by the demon crowds, its structure must have been somewhat different; it actually entered my space and woke me up. Only a demon with true attainment could manage to do such a thing; otherwise, how would they have discovered such a space? It was a very, very small space, but to me, it felt vast. I was not bound by the space; size no longer existed.
The of an Ancient Demon
I spent tens of thousands of trillions of years in a deep meditative state. In truth, I only now realise that so much time had passed; while in that deep meditative state, there was no such concept of time. Well, since so much time had passed and I had been awakened and emerged from my deep meditative state, I had no choice but to accept the situation. The world at that time was completely different from the world I had known before. After so many tens of thousands of trillions of years, that was naturally to be expected. To my surprise, they treated me with quite a bit of respect, knowing that, in this form, I did not look like a young demon, but rather an elder demon.
As it happened, at that time, the problems Practitioner Su was causing for the demon crowds of the Dharma Realm had everyone terrified. They did not know what to do next, as they had never encountered such a situation before. Even the very old demons who were leading groups did not know how to proceed; they seemed completely at a loss. Finally, when an even older demon appeared, everyone rushed to tell me, and then they came to ask me what should be done. At that time, as I have said, my personality had not changed; if I did not need to step forward, I would not, but if I needed to, I would not shirk my responsibility. Looking at the current situation, it seemed there was no demon older than me present, so I led them: Alright, you follow me, and let us see together just how much capability Practitioner Su has, to be able to leave the demon crowds of the Dharma Realm so helpless and at a loss.
The Futility of Demonic Magic
So, I followed their methods of using magic and attacked Practitioner Su’s head, eyes, and legs, as they had often done before. I unleashed some of my demonic power upon him. Indeed, Practitioner Su was quite uncomfortable that day. The demonic power entered to a certain extent—he could feel it, though it did not penetrate deep into his body; it was felt on the surface, in the hair follicles, pores, and skin—but it still caused quite a shock. After all, it was not the same as the demonic affairs and magic performed by the younger juniors, so... indeed! If it were the same, I would not be called an old demon.
I had not used magic for a long time, and I did not even know if my power still existed. Why? Because in a deep meditative state, one is in a state of purity without any interference, so the power is maintained and can even be enhanced. This is the mystery of it all. I tell everyone the benefits of purification and entering a deep meditative state: you will never regress unless you wither away. If you do not wither, your power remains; if you wither, you enter another life cycle, and things are different. Of course, Practitioner Su is extremely sensitive; he felt that this time the magic was different, and he quickly sounded the qing, subduing us demons who were casting the spells and sending us into the Western Land of Dharma Nature.
Many old demons have had the same experience as I have. I also take this opportunity to advise the old demons, demon kings, and demon children and grandchildren who are currently casting spells to attack Practitioner Su: you must stop quickly. Generally, when one casts a spell, it is because the demonic heart feels, I want to cast a spell to strike you down and leave you with no place to stand; only then does casting the spell have meaning. If you cast a spell and the other party, although they feel it, remains standing firm and unshaken, then what is the point of casting this magic?
The Path to Salvation
Be a little smarter and stop; leave yourself a way out and do not create more karma. If the target of your magic is an evil being, your karmic retribution might be slightly reduced, as you are stopping them from creating evil. Although your methods are not exactly good, you are still creating karma, but the other party is a Buddha who saves beings, or a practitioner, and the magic cast did not affect his heart of saving beings. In such a situation, I advise everyone to stop casting spells, because the karma created is too great! Especially casting spells against a Buddha; this is simply like digging on the head of the Grand Duke of Jupiter. Actually, in saying this, am I not talking about myself? Yes, I am the same; I also cast spells against Practitioner Su, attacking his eyes and causing dizziness and ringing in his ears, which he experienced. Moreover, my magic allowed my demon children and grandchildren to see that it was different from the magic they usually cast. It seemed that for the moment, the situation satisfied everyone’s needs, but the result was that Practitioner Su still led the Dharma assembly and still saved many demons of the Dharma Realm. Did that not mean the magic was cast in vain? And I myself created this karma and suffering.
Learn to be smarter. These are heartfelt words from my own experience that I share with the public and with our Demon Realm. After all, it is the Buddha who does not hold a grudge against you. How foolish your actions are! Yet, he still sends you into the Western Land of Dharma Nature, fearing that you might suffer, and allows you to enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature to be saved. So, everyone has learned; this is the conduct of a Buddha, which is completely different from the heart and actions of a demon.
Because 210,000 trillion years ago, I heard the Buddha-name Namo Amituofo, and I followed an old demon and chanted it a few times. It truly was a of that entered my ear canal. Even now, wow, recovering that memory, I can still see those words branded into my Alaya . Those words are too powerful, giving me the chance to be saved now.
I, the demon Jieshen, tell everyone these processes from personal experience, hoping that those who hear this—whether it be the demon crowds, beings of any of the six realms of existence, or even the Four Sacred Realms, or other demon realms, heavens beyond heavens, alien worlds, the galaxy, the universe, and demonic beings—that you can hear what I have to say. Practitioner Su often visits these places. Many things, if you hear them once, you let them go in one ear and out the other. If you hear them a second time, perhaps you hear one part; if you hear them a third time, you take in two parts; if you hear them a fourth time, you might be able to form a sentence in your head; and if you hear them a fifth time, perhaps you will be able to do it.
This is called the power of熏修 (熏修: long-term cultivation/nurturing). This is where the brilliance of the Buddha’s teachings lies: long-term cultivation washes away the pollution and incorrect things in your head, one by one. Once washed clean, you will be in sync with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, and then you will not do wrong things; you will walk on the Right Way and thus be saved. Because I know that many old demons who were interviewed before also earnestly advised the public, but the speaker had the intention while the listener had no interest, letting it go in one ear and out the other. This situation is also very likely to happen. For example, in the human world right now, among the fourfold assembly, have the advices from Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju or Practitioner Su been heard too frequently? You hear them every day and get tired of them, and they seem to have no power, right? By not listening, you have lost great benefits; I am truly sorry for you.
The foundation of some beings is just like this; demons are in sync with demons, and the other party needs to use stronger demon nature to suppress them before they are willing to submit. I am not talking about them themselves, but the demons within them. We can see the situation of the demon crowds within the fourfold assembly, and we naturally know their foundations like the back of our hands. They also have an Alaya consciousness, so when I want to confront a demon—for example, the eyes—there are often demons that cause bad vision inside. We look at their foundation, see what words they can understand and take in, and then we say those words to them. When they understand, they stop a little, and then we continue to speak; perhaps they understand more, and perhaps they see the Buddha-light appear and follow the Buddha. Does this not save that demon? Saving the demon is equivalent to saving the host, that is, the fourfold assembly members themselves. Practitioner Su often uses this tactic. Namo Amituofo.
Practitioner Su often perceives exactly where the beings attached to the fourfold assembly are located. He also knows precisely what must be done to save them—and in doing so, save you, the members of the fourfold assembly. This is why he often shouts at you, strikes you, or even pats you, sometimes to the point where you feel utterly humiliated. Yet, all of this is done to scold the beings attached to you, to make them happy. Ha! Once the beings are happy, their hearts open and their confusion dissolves. They think, 'I really had to do that to you! I couldn't bring myself to strike you, but Practitioner Su could say it for me. Very well, that settles a grudge in my heart! And to think I have discovered such a wonderful place—alright, I will go.' It is no wonder these beings listen to Practitioner Su; he stands on the same side as they do. But who is the one that ultimately benefits? You, the fourfold assembly yourselves. Should you not be immensely grateful? Do not blame Practitioner Su for these methods; that would show a complete lack of understanding of how to repay a kindness. This is what we call 'bitter medicine that cures the illness,' and it is the mark of a truly brilliant teacher.
The Wisdom of Bitter Medicine
Very well, I have said enough on that point. Sometimes, when you hear something pleasant, you take it to heart; when you hear something unpleasant, you brush it aside. It is better to listen to all of it; it is for your benefit and causes you no harm. In short, because of the existence of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, with Namo Amituofo residing within, and with Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju and Practitioner Su present here, you all have the opportunity to be saved. Seize it! Keep the Buddha-name in your heart 24/7—this is something the Buddha constantly reminds everyone to do.
I observe that even the demons in our Dharma-Nature Land are happily chanting the Buddha-name. It seems the demons in the Dharma-Nature Land chant even more diligently than those of you sitting here. That is because we have suffered, and we know how precious this Buddha-name truly is. It seems you have not suffered enough, which is why, at times, the 'demon children and grandchildren' give you a little bit of trouble. But let us stop that; this is a Buddha-land. Do not do such things, as it affects their spiritual progress and, by extension, affects the demon crowds as well. If a second Practitioner Su were to emerge, would that not mean more demons could be saved? If a second Dharma-Nature Land were to be established, more beings could enter to be saved and eventually reach the holy land of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I, the demon Youjie, speak these words. I hope those with karmic affinity can take them to heart, and those without it must absolutely not slander them. Ha! It is not for my sake, but to prevent you from creating negative karma through speech. Every word I speak is true; there is not a single shred of falsehood, nor is there a single word that deviates from the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way.
The Urgency of the Path
As for how to change the human world, I see that Namo Amituofo is right here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. If people only knew, would it not be simple to just come and find the Buddha? If you keep searching here and there, are you not just wasting your time, energy, stamina, and money? And after all that expenditure, you are not guaranteed to find the True Teachings, nor are you guaranteed to be reborn in the Western Pure Land. Why suffer such a loss? Just come directly to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to find the Buddha and chant the Buddha-name. How should one chant or find the Buddha? Everyone possesses a physical shell, and there will always come a day when it is exhausted. When that time comes, where will you go? Naturally, you should go to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. The human world does not necessarily know this, which is why Buddhist education is truly of the utmost importance.
The appeal that Practitioner Su has made to everyone has at least received the approval of this old demon. Education is vital. Without the channel of education, many people remain ignorant and simply act according to their own whims. When they act in this way, they go astray and deviate from the path, and their own spirits end up suffering, enduring retribution. Therefore, there is a clear direction here for everyone to follow. In Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia—a place you should find quite easy to locate, given how advanced technology is today—once you find it, enter it, and arrive, you can be saved. It is that simple. Moreover, we only encounter such an opportunity once every 210,000 trillion years. You humans have encountered it now; if you do not seize the opportunity, when will you?
A Call to the Demon Realm
As for the Demon Realm, under the Ultimate Vow and great heart of Practitioner Su, demons from all over, including those on Earth, have been saved on a massive scale. The most important thing for demons is to disturb others and feed on their energy. By saving the demons, is this not equivalent to saving the human world? Because once the human world is free from the attacks of demons, people have the chance to live normal lives. They even have the opportunity to enter the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to hear the True Teachings, allowing their Body-Mind-Spirit to be saved. This is a seamless process—how wonderful! Do not delay. Life is limited, and when impermanence arrives before your eyes, you will not be able to escape it. If you do not know how to go to the Western Land, and you fall into the cycle of rebirth instead, the loss will be immense. Demon crowds, if you hear my words, take this as an appeal to you. Surrendering and entering the Western Land of Dharma Nature is the best and most beneficial choice you can make. Very well, my supplementary explanation ends here. Thank you.
