As we journey through this life, we often find that our physical bodies begin to falter. With the onset of old age, our reactions slow down, and the weight of illness becomes difficult to bear. As the prospect of death draws near, we may feel a profound sense of helplessness, unable to take charge of our own destiny. This leads to empty sighs and a deep, lingering sorrow that permeates our very spirits. It is a common experience, yet one that we must learn to transcend through the wisdom of the .
Even for those who have dedicated decades to their practice, the challenges remain. We carry with us the baggage of our past lives and the habits formed in this present existence. When we encounter difficult situations, the 'self,' personal ego, and selfishness manifest instantly. This makes it incredibly difficult to maintain a calm and steady heart, leading to inner turmoil. These physical reactions and emotional disturbances directly impact our spirits, causing them to feel heavy with sadness and draining the vital energy within our bodies. We must recognise that these patterns are not our true nature, but rather obstacles that we must learn to overcome.
Now that you are practising within the Buddha-land, it is your duty to engage in diligent practice. You strive to rediscover your awakened being and to save the world and all suffering beings. However, you may find that your body is not under your control, leaving you to wonder: Where does the soul reside? Can the spirit truly find peace? How can one transform this state? The answer lies in the power of the heart: think good thoughts, hold good intentions, observe the good, and perform good deeds. We are fortunate to have the presence of and Practitioner Su to guide us. Because they are here, there is hope for transformation. They assist in helping the soul return to , allowing the spirit to find true peace.
Do not be sad, my child; you must rouse yourself and stand tall! You must be fiercely diligent in changing everything that hinders your progress. Do not let the 'self,' personal ego, and selfishness arise again. Only by doing so can you truly appease your and find harmony. Your body, mind, and heart are meant to be pure. By finding your way back to your original nature, you will see the truth and walk the path of Buddha-actions alongside Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Let us commit ourselves to this journey with a sincere heart, leaving behind the shadows of the past to embrace the light of the Western Pure Land. Namo Amituofo.
